THE recommended meter for calibrating Hickok tube testers. This is a military-grade VOM model TS-352 A/U is the meter used by the military in calibrating Hickok tube testers and is noted in the calibration instructions for the TV7 D/U, among others. It has the 1000 ohms/volt scale that is universal to the Hickok calibration instructions, no more trying to figure out what resistors to place over your DVM to get the proper voltages for calibrating, it's all here! Also has 20,000 ohms/volt scale, and a 5kv high voltage section. This Precision Model 640 I picked up from the estate of a fellow who used to work on old radios. I am offering it for parts or repair. Right now it is non functioning. I've plugged it in and couldn't get it to do much of anything. If I toggle the on/off switch I can see the short light flicker. Noticeable issues are the power cord needing to be replaced and the roller tube chart is damaged on the right side. If functioning this is a very good tester. Hickok TV-7/U Tube Tester in Great Condition - Calibrated all Within SPECS
Hickok TV-7/U Military Tube Tester Working& Very Nice Conditon all Within SPECS Hiclok TV-7/U Military Tube Tester Works very good and installed new JAN 83 and 5y3GT rectifiers. Would normally say it was calibrated. But according to the manual, it was only tested& adjusted. Bias voltages all within specs, 22, 50, 75, and 100. The plate voltage was checked according to the manual, with a 375k resistor parallel from the cathode to the plate, pin 6& 3, and it is right at 150 volts and specs call for 150 volts. The high screen voltage used the same resistor on pins 6& 4 and was at 129 volts and specs call for 130 + or– 3 volts. The low screen voltage was checked and at 56 and specs call for 56 volts. Also, checked the line voltage with a 6L6 in the socket and it is at 6.1 volts. This was all in the manual and all the manuals and ... moreupdated tube data can be found here: Tested a 6L6 and there are pictures of that test below and the data says the minimum for a 6L6 is 25 and this one tests at 35. The meter reads on a 0– 120 scale and I am sure there is a way to convert to Gm. But that info was not included in any of the manuals. Sometimes the tests that need to be done don't require sophisticated analysis the real requirement is weight and reliability. It's 13 pounds. The TV-7 weighs 19 pounds and a clean low hours example costs at least twice as much, maybe more. The 747 us a usefull instrument to have on hand. Most vacuum tube hi-fi equipment lovers have more than one tester for a backup. This example appears an accurate low hours example. There is no finter tip wear on the the usual places. Instruction manual, and a short pamphlet on finding faulty tubes in your TV along with the main unit. The tester housing is plastic. I'm not sure if it works, but I don't think there's to much that could go wrong with it. The red housing measures approximately; 3 1/2" by 2 3/4" by 1 5/16" thick. The box is in fair condition. This listing is for a Hickock Model 605 Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester with VTVM. Capacitance Measurement. I got this with a store I just recently purchased. Look for some REALLY interesting items in the coming months! Filament voltage is selectable from 0.6 volts to 117 volts. This tester includes a VOM for measuring voltage. Current, resistance and current plus it has a capacitance measurement circuit. This is in very good condition with only a few nicks to the case. All switches and pots are crisp in operation and not erratic. I cleaned all switches and pots plus the sockets. Tube sockets are as tight as they should be. The roll chart is smooth with very little looseness or binding. Occasionally you do need to press a little bit on the wheel to get the chart moving. It is sold as guaranteed good. Comes with the catalog of numbers for testing various tubes. Y ou may be able to spot the control labeled'Grid' in the lower left corner on the picture shown above. This sets the grid bias on the tube. And ranges from-5VDC all the way up to-45VDC. Under the hood, there are no tubes to worry about in these testers. The'solid state' bias supply is furnished via the single diode. See the picture of the'guts' of the Model 666. Highlighted in yellow is the filtered DC supply(for the transistor test) on the right and the adjustment for leakage indication on the left. You can set how'high' a leakage exists between elements of the tubes that would be'failed' on the leakage test. Bulbs for the heater and overload are good. The plastic over the meter is clean and free of scratches! Meter movement is nice and smooth Several known tubes were tested to ensure proper operation of this tube tester. The hinge is tight to open and pops when you do open it. If you are looking for a tester with a nice case. This is not the one. The case is in terrible condition. It is intact enough to safely house the tester, it just doesn't look nice. I don't know if all functions are working. I am capable of; finding a tube number in the scroll. Plug the tube in, make the listed settings, push the listed button, and read the meter, good or replace. Other then setting the line adjust, this is all that I have the knowledge to do. I do not know how accurate it is, as I don't have a tube of a known condition or another tester to compare to. The face of the tester in in pretty good condition. It has definitely had some use. As you can see wear marks around the switches wear fingers have rubbed on it. There is a lens missing over the bias fuse, and the power cord is pretty cracked up and should be replaced ... moreas well as the short test lead. The metal name plate that is supposed to be glued under the lid has come off. The tube sockets seemed to work fine on the two I tried, but all look like they have light corrosion on the contacts. The scroll is complete and works well, it gets a little harder to roll as you approach the ends. There is some writing in pencil on the back of the face. I will wrap up the two tubes underneath to be sure they are not damaged during shipping. BE SURE TO OPEN AND REMOVE THE PACKAGING MATERIAL BEFORE USE! This is a Precision Apparatus 10-60 tube and transistor tester. I tried it on 3 tubes. A 6L6, a 5Y3 and a 12AX7. It worked and gave reasonable results, but calibration is not guaranteed. I did not try testing any transistors. It is one of the last, and most complete testers that Precision made and covers many tube types. This is the one to have if you're looking for a high end emmisions tester. The case is a little beat up( see pictures) but solid and there are some wear marks and scratches on the face of the tester. Hickok 800 Tube Tester - Plate Current Mod
Hickok 800 Tube Tester. The diode test ports have been modified to test power tube current using a standard DMM for power tube matching. I will send instructions on how to use to the winning bidder if you are not familiar with this function which is commonly used on the 539 series. Also included are manuals and test data on CD. The 83 tube has been replaced with a voltage regulated SS device providing proper voltage drop. This unit had a rough shipping time getting to me and the wooden bracket on the left side came loose. And the top deck is slightly bowed. I have repaired the bracket, and everything fits pretty well but its not perfect, please see pictures. Electronics repaired and calibrated. My calibration voltages read- Plate Voltage = 151.9(150 +/ 5v) Screen Voltage = 133.3(135/5v) Reduced Screen Voltage = 55.7(56 +/3V) Max Bias =-38.9(39 ... more+/1V) This tester reads small signal tubes fine. 12AX7, 12AU7, 6CF8, etc but larger power tubes appear to sag the power supply a bit, and so read a little on the low side. This does not affect the current reading if matching power tubes using current readings. However I'm starting the bidding low. Guaranteed to be functioning on arrival but due to age of vintage gear otherwise no returns unless something is grossly mis-stated or is in error.
