This tester came out of a large private collection auctioned off at an estate sale. The tester is in very fine condition- inside is mint- bottom of case has a few scratches( see picture) We ran a few tests straight out of the manual and afterwards duplicated the test seen on YouTube entitled: how to test a 6dj8 with a hickok tube tester. All tests worked with multiple tubes all gauges worked perfectly- no bad switches cracks or blemishes- doesn't get any better than this. It comes with instruction manual. This Tube Tester is very good looking with only minor wear. This was made in the 1945-46 era. The design was made by Hickock, it was licensed and assembled by Supreme Corporation in Greenwood Miss. The manual appears completed without any significant torn or worn pages. Since in it partially working it might be any easy fix. I just don't have time. My loss is your gain. Hickok 600 Transconductance Tube Tester. Low Hours Tester was used on the bench of a gent that was not an engineer but in management. Owner had limited time and tester accumulated low hours. Tester was always in shop with the same atmosphere as the living quarters of a home. Switches have that low hours feel. Meter is working fine. Tube measurement results correlate closely with a known accurate TV-7. Faceplate has no wear at the usual spots. Chart is working with correct tension. Faceplate screws are all original. Cabinet shows some wear and what appears to be paint spots. Cabinet has no serious stains. Inside of tester has that sweet smell and not the damp musty smell of a tester stored in damp atmosphere. Fantastic working 539C tube tester has 2011 manufacture meter +extras
I have decided to part with my 539C very reluctantly(serial# 396-00941) but it needs to see more use than I give it these days now that I have the at1000. This tester has been recently serviced and calibrated in Jan 2012 by Kara Chaffee and has a brand new production glass front meter bought from Roger Kennedy(receipt included for both) the original meter was the newer square plastic one(the kind you do NOT want) and this is a later model tester with the smooth face. Comes with original manual. Obsolete and foreign tube charts. This tester functions in every way and quite well, specs on tests have matched my at1000. I am including a vintage pair of headphones to use with the noise test function and a DC mA meter to plug in to the plate current jacks when reading this measurement. This will not be cheap but will be fully double boxed with ... morethick hard Styrofoam and fully insured against any damage that may occur in shipping. I will not accept returns on this but check my seller feedback and you will see an extensive history of service including multiple testers sold. This is the tester you want and ready to go so do not hesitate, I see these every so often and some have sold for way more just because the case is mint and shiny even though they have original meters that are prone to failure with age and have not been serviced. It is fully functional but unfortunately only he knew its last calibration. The only tube he kept with it shows up as a little weak although it’s never been used, as such it is my belief that it is working within normal limits, but will probably need to be calibrated in the near future.the case has some dings/scratches as is normal for an item of this age. The unit has all the instruction booklets, the original Warranty and the original Sales Receipt dated April of 1968. The outer case shows normal signs of use. HERE'S A VERY NICE TUBE TESTER AT A BARGAIN PRICE. It does need some knowledgeable TLC however. As you can see this tester is in VG+ to excellent original condition. Case is fine. Roll chart exceptional. All lettering. Knobs, etc. mechanically OK. No loose switches, etc. Inside the unit is very clean and shows no signs of shop abuse, such as smoke or being left on continuously. The mystery is it will test some tubes exactly as you'd expect and some it doesn't! It may be a poor solder joint or a switch contact that I've overlooked. Moreover, I've given it a general cleaning and inspection and still haven't located the intermittent problem. As mentioned the roll chart is smooth and still very white indicating low use. The meter is in fine shape with no signs of abuse and few scratches. The transformer shows no signs ... moreof rust/corrosion and runs very cool and quiet. A very early and quite popular emission tester from Eico was the Model 625. While it is a basic emission tester. The Model 625 is very compact and easy to use. Up for auction is a vintage Knight tube tester It is a model KG 600 b. It is in good as found condition. Purchased from a recent garage sale. The previous owner told me it works. I have turned it on and it does work in that respect. I have not run tests on it. I know nothing at all about old electronics and I know even less about vacuum tubes. Also I have no tubes to test. The exterior or the case is dirty and dusty, but the inside is pretty clean. The lid/top of the case has the previous owners initial painted on. The case is good and solid, there is no breaks or repairs. There is some surface rust on the hinges and closing clasps. there is some spots of the faux leather cover coming loose. The manuals I have are all dated 1955 so it would be a good guess that this particular unit was made somewhere around that time. The manuals are a must and themselves are very difficult to find. I believe that its retail price then was somewhere around $1500, which was about the price of a new car, so not many were made and few would have ended up anywhere other than a lab. It adjusts properly to my line voltage. I tested an old 6E5, seems fine, nice bright display and 110% reading. Then I tried a 76 triode and it came up 90% Then I tried a 12AU7 and it came up 5% but it tested great on my EICO 628. So I figure it needs restoration. All the buttons seem to be working good, some were sticking at fist, but got better as I kept working them. So it has good transformers. Good meter and good controls. Schematic on the bottom, inside. Clean chassis internals. Heck, the handle isn't even broken. OK, the case cover is rough. That's easy. Overall, restoration should be pretty inexpensive. Military TV-7A/U that is in Excellent working condition and nice cosmetic condition compared to most other than it is missing the clasps that hold the tube data setting book shown in the photos. You will see in the photos it line adjusts perfectly and also is shown testing my 6L6 calibration tube which is rated at 40 and showing a reading of 40 on the meter so it is very accurate and I have tested and sold several tubes here on ebay with this very tester and nothing but great feedback. Jackson 648R Tube Tester-EXCELLENT! 648 Works Great This listing is for a vintage Jackson 648R tube tester in exceptional condition. It works great. And except for some wear on the wood case, it looks nearly new. I have not seen another on eBay in quite some time in this excellent shape. The 648R is one of the more recent versions of the classic Jackson 648 tube tester. This"R" series replaced the"648A in 1958 and was manufactured until 1961. It is preferable to earlier models in that it uses a diode instead of an internal 1S5 tube for calibrating line voltage. So it seldom needs calibration. It also features a Flip/Over tube socket bank. I see no significant defects on the tester- it looks nearly new in all respects except for external case wear. The switches. Knobs, meter, and chassis all look near new. There is almost no ... morewear on any of the plastic or metal parts. The knobs and switches all appear to be original. Paint is excellent near new. There is some very slight corrosion of some of the Philips head wood screws that hold the chassis to the case. The outside of the case has some minor dings and light corrosion as seen in the photos. The case is solid and clean and all the latches. Hinges, handles work great. If you refinished the leatherette exterior the whole thing would look near new. Please contact me with questions or for additional photos. I have used it as my primary tester for about 10 years and have never had a problem. When I first got it I checked it against a friends Hickok and the readings matched very closely. I have had no reason to adjust things since then(in light use. Perhaps 10 tube tests a year) Instructions for calibration are easy to find online if you want to do that. Included on the top cover are the Operation Instructions and an Additional Tube Guide. The built in rolling tube guide is in excellent shape. I am also including(not shown in the photos) a 12 page photo copy of a newer tube guide dated 1965. I Just OVERHAULED this tester& it's FREE SHIPPING to Canada& US. FULLY INSURED& TRACKED. Eico 667 Mutual Conductance Tube Tester& Transistor Tester. Serial# 9123. C/w copies of Instruction Manual. Older tubes& European tubes set up Manuals. Transistor manual The tester looks excellent inside. But it needed extra long servicing to bring it to proper Calibration standards. Per manual. It now works PERFECTLY. It looks Excellent outside(but few marks) There's an Eico tape on the bottom of the case w/ their# 667 51026 0044 OVERHAUL: The tester was operational. But I wanted to but to bring it to proper Calibration standards. Per Manual- it needed extra long servicing- THE RIGHT WAY: Changed Plate potentiometer w/ a Wire Wound MALLORY Industrial Grade type. Changed Leakage& Line resistors. Matched within 2% resistance- ... morebetter than the originals- the Manual says they've to be of equal value. Installed 2 New diodes& a New Electrolytic capacitor. I painted& installed a NEW Pilot Light. Took apart the meter& straightened its pointer. Installed missing screw/nut for Push Buttons assembly. This was very important. As some PB's weren't holding! Removed residue of old tape(you still see it inside the cover. Picture 1) Cleaning throughout. CALIBRATION: Per attached Instruction Manual. TESTING on the Mutual Conductance scale 0- 140; Note that what you see in the pictures are very resembling to the results on my Upgraded Stark 8-77(~= Hickok 6000/A) Mutual Conductance tester: 1. Russian Army 6P6 = 6L6. No leaks 2. A Leaking tube. 3. 5U4GB. P 1 = 94 = Mid Good, P 2 = 94 = Mid Good( make sure you switch the Grid pot OFF = 0. Per instructions) No picture. 4. 6CW4 Nuvistor- 94. No picture. 5. 4 Transistors- One shown in picture. NOTE: don't buy these Russian tubes. Because although they test OK in testers, they have Anode Glowing& develop Voltage on i/p Grid in my Class A perfect Amplifier. Out of the 4 tubes I got recently, 3 w/ Anode Glowing, 1 w/ voltage on grid! Pleas

After servicing the tester was used regularly to assess the reliability for few months. Finally this was calibrated last week and checked every day for consistant values. TV3 BU is one of the well recommended Hickok Tube testers among many variants due to its military grade Potted Transformer. Micromho range selector with different Grid signal voltage selection. Also this tester has Ceramic tube sockets- an added advantage with military testers which show little usage in this. The Tester has safety 3 Pronged Earthed Plugs for 110V US use. AND has several Western Electric tubes types right on the chart! 300A/B. 101L, 102L, 396A, and 417A! Will also test most common audio tubes like 6CA7, 6L6, 6SN7, KT88, 7247, 12AX, AU, AT, 7247, 7199,7355, 7591 and 7868(with adapter) A super value compared with TV-10 and TV-7. One unique feature is an auxilliary on/off switch that the lid controls-when you close the lid the tester turns off!
