I recently picked this tester up at an estate sale along with ... morea few other vintage electronic items. I have not personally used this tester myself but was told by the previous owner that he had used it approximately 3-years ago and that it was working at that time. After purchasing it. I brought it home, plugged it in, and was able to adjust the line voltage properly. I have not done any additional testing beyond this and therefore, I am selling this item in as-is, untested, used condition. As the photos show, this unit is quite clean for it's age both inside and out and all of the knobs, switches, and push-buttons are original and in great shape. All of the sockets are clean and are not cracked anywhere. The indicator needles in the three meters are not stuck and the power cord is still in great shape without being brittle. I purchased this tester without a case cover(as shown) which is how I am selling it. The tube data scroll wheel does work, and all of the data is readable however, it does stick once in a while. Own this Western Electric/ Hickok KS-15559-L1 tube checker for a great price. This item is not available for local pickup. It will need to be shipped to your location. ITEM DESCRIPTION A vintage 600A tube tester by Hickok. It works well. May need calibration though. I tested the function with a couple different tubes such as 27, 80, 6V6, 6SN7 and all performed as expected. The power cord is flexible and has no cracks. The small grid cap adapter aged and a bit cracked at the base of it. There is an nice built-in scroll for tube settings included and it even still shows those two digit tubes. The handle. Hinges and clasps are tight and in good condition. Exterior cabinet not water damaged or cracked however, it does have marks paint splatters, and tears consistent with its age. I got this from my Dad about 20 years ago and never used it. Looks to be in very nice condition but has been sitting in my office closet. I have no tubes to test it but it powers up. Has a few marks on it in pencil and a red pencil mark near the center of the face. Has the original manual dated 1965 and the supplement for obsolete tubes dated 1968. Has some adaptors with it. Probably needs to be calibrated and gone over by someone qualified. It is heavy so I will ship economy and with insurance and tracking. If you want otherwise let me know at auctions end. Hickok 550X tube tester. Is overall clean and in good condition. There is some wear to the case covering(see photos) but still in pretty decent shape. The leather handle has some wear but still seems solid. This does power on and I tried a few of the functions and it seems like it all works well but I don't have the equipment to fully test the functions. The TV-7/ 10 series of military tube testers are considered some of the best testers ever made. The TV-10 is a larger variant of the TV-7 and has a major advantage in that it reads out directly in micromhos and has a built in roll chart. The design is supremely rugged and compact. It tests a great many types quickly and easily and enjoys wide support. If you want a tube tester that gives great results with a direct readout than this is the one! The TV-10 is not a very well known tube tester. There just weren't very many of them made and they are hard to find. It is basically an up-scale version of the ever popular TV-7. Like most other US military tube ... moretesters. The TV-10 is a mutual transconductance tester designed by Hickok. This TV-10A/U is a pretty nice example. The outer case has its share of superficial dings and scratches but inside it is in great condition. Very clean panel and immaculate interior. The roll chart works smoothly and the tube tester works just fine as well. The only flaws worth mentioning is a crack or two in the plastic instruction sheet mounted in the lid and the power cord is getting a little stiff. I compared the readings with a friends TV-7 and this set was close but slightly higher on the tubes we checked[12AX7. 6V6, 6L6, 6BQ5] It has a Navy calibration sticker from 1968, so it's somewhat overdue for a calibration[several guys on the web will do calibrations reasonably] It measures approx 18" X 7" X 10" and very well packed[double boxed] shipping weight will be 26.5 pounds from zip code 24012. Radio City 808A/ 808AA Tube& Set Tester It would appear that this tester could be used to test tubes and other electronic functions. It comes with a lead that appears to attach to the back end of a TV cathode ray tube. There is a probe and some other leads as well. One of the pointer knobs is cracked in half. It might be able to be repaired but I will include a similar replacement in case it cannot be fixed. The rear of the wooden case has some mold/mildew staining which may or may not be cleanable. The wooden case appears to be made of oak with very nice box corner joinery. The handle feels nice and solid as are the rubber feet on the bottom. The plastic window for the scroll chart is warped/bowed inward on one side. This tester was pulled from storage and not plugged in or tested in any way- comes with leads and manual as shown- sold ... moreas-is/as-found. This tube tester works great but does need a tuneup I've enjoyed having it. But don't use it much do I'm selling it and will be listing all my tubes in the next week too. It powers up and works great but could use a tuneup. The power cord is starting to Frey and the big porcelain tube socket is cracked and the small cord input could be replaced. The tube chart is a little tight and could use to be reset too. And there are dings in the case. But it still works great I've tested and sold tubes with it on Ebay and never had a complaint. There is one stencil marking on the case that says"TV-7A/U" but the other stencil ID's and the manufacturing plate say"TV-7D/U. The tester is being sold'AS-IS' because I do not know the working condition or calibration. It has an old style 2-prong plug which I did not try to plug in. I will let someone who knows about proper restoration to bring this unit to life. Physically. The tester is sound, with a solid case that latches securely. Supreme 85 Tube Tester - Collector Grade - Working!
Supreme 85 Tube Tester- Collector Grade- Working! Here's a Supreme model 85 vacuum tube tester that's just simply beautiful. It's jet-black Bakelite panel is free of cracks or chips and the gold lettering is completely intact. The meter works as it should and even the large neon lamp. Missing from most older testers, is still present. The photos don't do it justice. The panel is so dark and shiny that it was impossible for me to get a good photo without glare making parts of the panel look washed out. Be assured that the panel is jet-black, even in color, and shiny- just like it came from the factory! This instrument has another plus. It not only works. But it works properly. I've checked it out thoroughly and calibrated the line adjustment- the only calibration control provided by Supreme. The tester is shown in the third ... morephoto testing a known good 6A7 7-pin tube. The second photo shows the adapters that were later available for the Supreme 85, and are used to test the"new" Octal and Loctal tubes. The only flaw this tester has is its box. It has done a great job of protecting the instrument inside. But it shows it. There are chips in the veneer, the handle is missing, and there are some stains. I'm not versed in wood restoration, so I'll leave that to the buyer. This was to be a"keeper" for me; but with an eventual move pending, even some of the keepers will have to go. The tester ships with the schematic diagram. The data sheet(originally posted in the lid) the tube supplement dated 06/39, and another data update. All are on CD in PDF format for easy viewing and printing. In going through the instrument I discovered that the circuit contained parts that weren't documented in its schematic diagram, but appeared in the Supreme 85PL tester and are documented in that schematic. As you can see from the panel face there is not much wear around the knobs as happens when a tester is used frequently. This unit has an 83 tube rectifier and a 5Y3WGT tube rectifier. Unit has been tested on various tubes an gave typical results. Meter jumps to position promptly for test results or line adjust. Outer cloth covering of case shows typical wear with some worn through spots at edges and corners. Has all four rubber feet and original handle. Power cord has been replaced. I have up for sale this very nice. ACCURATE INSTRUMENTS MODEL 151 VINTAGE TUBE TESTER. This is in very good working condition, and comes with the original instruction manual with tube charts, and 3 other tube charts that cover cross reference military tubes, and industrial tubes. The photos show the unit working with a tube under test. The case has a few scuffs and nicks, and the chrome hardware has a little bit of rust which could easily be cleaned off. This is a very simple to use, very portable tester!
