Real nice tube tester from my own laboratory! Very clean. It was extremely active since its production date but working as if it was new! Very robust and heavy duty! Dual transformer. New condensers, no burned wires, it has the schematic stapled on base! Push switches contacts are active and not coming apart, each contact has its tension and properly closing circuitry! It uses solid state system and not 1S5 tube. Unit was lubricated and 100% functional. It has extras such as the magnoval adapter original from Jackson M#9mna, extra chart, ac cord, academy ac plug, wire pin unit included. Meter works, switches intact, bulb works. Never gave trouble. Origin USA M# 648R S#23819 Photo shows the 6146 being tested. Code 125 AB469 17 W results shown on meter. Rebuilt by a license technician LIC#14830. Tube box has roughly 100 tubes and lots of them ... morebrand new such as 12au7. 6ax7, power tubes, audio etc. Box was reinforced with glue and re-varnished with marine type varnish so it can stand a bit of rain. Working Jackson Dynamic Tube Tester 715 Nice Old Working Jackson Tube Tester. Clean overall with some missing paint on the lower right. All the knobs and switches are in very nice condition and smooth turnning. As you can see in the photos it does work nice and is easy to use! I used a 6BA6 tube for testing in the photo. Leather strap is in good condition as is the power cord. The Roll Chart is intact and in good condition. Rolling free. This is a heavy item. Weighs in at 13 lb 7 oz. Jackson 648R fully functional tube tester..reconditioned. Not Sencore or B&K
The controls have been cleaned and adjusted. New capacitor and resistors checked for tolerance. I used a reference set of tubes to validate test results against my calibrated TV-7 and it passed with flying colors. Shown testing good reference 6L6, 5Y3, and 12AX7. Also used a 6L6 with known short to validate that shorts test operates properly. I will warrant this tester to be fully funcional for all the tubes I validate against. The case is solid with no loose joints and good hinges, but some of the tolxex covering shows wear and could use attention. This will make someone a very reliable tube tester. I am also checking out a Sencore MU150 Continental II and a B&K 747 that will be available later.

You are bidding on a used Jackson Tube Tester Model 634 from the 1940's. Tester appears to be in decent shape for it's age. There are a lot of signs of wear on the outside of the case and handle as it is missing some paint and there is some rust on the outside. Tester comes with original testing sheets although I am not sure if they are complete or not as all the pages are loose and clipped onto the inside of the tester. This auction includes a Jackson model 658-1 vacuum tube tester in good working condition and with it's original owner's manual and supplemental tube data booklet. As the photos show. This unit is quite clean for it's age and all of the controls and push-buttons operate smoothly. All of the sockets are clean and are not cracked anywhere. The power cord is still in great shape without being brittle and the scroll tube data chart is still easy to read. The photos show this tester testing a 6L6 output tube(tube not included in auction) and, in addition, I took another photo showing that the AC line level is able to be set properly. There is a small crack in the meter cover however, it does not affect the functionality or readability of the meter. I was not able to get the small crack to show up in my photos. I have tested a lot of different electron tubes on it. I have not used all the different docks/ ports on the unit but most. All the buttons. Switches& knobs work exactly as they should. This is a nice clean unit and it comes with a photo copy MANUAL and 30+ pages of EXTRA TUBE DATA WITH INSTRUCTIONS on how to test them for the Jackson 715. The copies are what was sent to the owners of these testers for upgrade tube information. The onboard reel offers 100's of different tubes as well. There is even a pic of the inside of the unit. Something was rolling around inside so I took it apart to see what it was and it was just a nut that came loose that holds the tube data sheet in place. Jackson 658-1 Dynamic Output Tube Tester This unit has been electrically brought back to specs. New 1% resistors. 5 watt power resistors, 450V capacitors. All factory solder joints have been checked/repaired. ALL diodes have been replaced. Please check your tubes for shorts. This can be a touchy unit. It's true what you read online you may get into the habit of tapping the meter to get the needle to set. If you know of a solution I would be happy to incorporate that into the rebuild before shipping. This unit has been calibrated using a Fluke 87 for currents and voltages. It adjusts properly to my line voltage. I tested an old 6E5, seems fine, nice bright display and 110% reading. Then I tried a 76 triode and it came up 90% Then I tried a 12AU7 and it came up 5% but it tested great on my EICO 628. So I figure it needs restoration. All the buttons seem to be working good, some were sticking at fist, but got better as I kept working them. So it has good transformers. Good meter and good controls. Schematic on the bottom, inside. Clean chassis internals. Heck, the handle isn't even broken. OK, the case cover is rough. That's easy. Overall, restoration should be pretty inexpensive. The 648R is one of the more recent versions of the classic Jackson 648 tube tester. This"R" series replaced the"648A in 1958 and was manufactured until 1961. It is preferable to earlier models in that it uses a diode instead of an internal 1S5 tube for calibrating line voltage. So it seldom needs calibration. It also features a Flip/Over tube socket bank. I see no significant defects on the tester- it looks nearly new in all respects except for external case wear. The switches. Knobs, meter, and chassis all look near new. There is almost no ... morewear on any of the plastic or metal parts. The knobs and switches all appear to be original. Paint is excellent near new. There is some very slight corrosion of some of the Philips head wood screws that hold the chassis to the case. The outside of the case has some minor dings and light corrosion as seen in the photos. The case is solid and clean and all the latches. Hinges, handles work great. If you refinished the leatherette exterior the whole thing would look near new. When I first got it I checked it against a friends Hickok and the readings matched very closely. I have had no reason to adjust things since then(in light use. Works great. Comes with instructions. And tube test set up data. Also has a built in roll chart for test set up. Roll chart moves very smoothly from end to end. Test sockets for 8 pin octal and loctal tubes. 4, 5, 6, 7 pin early type tubes, 7, 9 pin miniature tubes and acorn tubes. All sockets. Switches and controls have been cleaned. All bad capacitors and out-of-spec resistors were replaced. It has a good power cord. And good grid cap lead. Great for testing amplifier. Audio, stereo, hi/fi, radio and tv tubes. Nice Jackson 637 tube tester. VOM, noise test and tube chart! Jackson Model 637. This is a very well made tester that incorporates an analog VOM into it's circuit. You can measure voltage. Resistance, and current with a Jackson 637. Banana jacks are provided to connect VOM test leads. And high-impedance headphones to listen in on the tube as it is being tested. Setup procedure is quite similar to a Hickok/Stark tube tester. There are two rows of 11 push buttons on the panel; the top row are to select functions and ranges for the VOM circuit. And the bottom row helps test for shorts, leakage, and the'dynamic' conductance of triodes/tetrodes/pentodes. The headphones are not supplied but easy to find on EBay or else where. This is 1940's- 1950's Jackson Model 648A dynamic plate conductance tube tester. This tube tester was made by The Jackson Electrical Instrument Co. of Dayton. Ohio. This is a portable instrument housed in a wooden box covered with a now-tattered covering. The box measures 16.5 inches wide, 13.5 inches deep and 6 inches high with the top closed. It is powered by regular household current with voltage ranging from 100 to 125 volts. The tester can test most 4, 5, 6, 7, octal 8, loctal 8, Noval, 9, miniature 7, and sub-miniature 7 and 8 pin tubes of the 1930's era and later. A roller tube chart list of tubes it can test is built in to the lower portion of the front panel. Powers up and lights work, no other testing done. As-Is but guaranteed not to be DOA.

Jackson 658 Dynamic Mutual Conductance tube tester
I have several tube testers on auction today. This one is a Jackson 658 Dynamic Mutual Conductance tester. I have gone through this tester and replaced all old school rectifiers with new silicone rectifiers, I have also replaced all out of tolerance Capacitors and resistors as well as the AC cord. I have cleaned and tightened all sockets and switches and calibrated it so it is ready to go. The only thing wrong with it is that about 1/2" of the tip of the meter needle has been broken off& is missing.THIS HOWEVER has NO EFFECT on the FUNCTIONALITY of the METER. THIS UNIT HAS THE VERY RARE"POWER SCROLL CHART"push the button and it automatically goes forward or back! The unit itself is in excellent condition. It comes with a ton of documentation and extras and the vacuum tubes Inc manual and calibration tube which is the best! Also has a bunch of extra associated documentation and service bulletins. I did power it up to check the calibration and it's reading a little high. Tube is calibrated at 85 and it reads 90. This unit is one of the easier to calibrate as pots are used for the calibration I also recall that when I put it away. The meter was occasionally a bit temperamental, and needed a tap before it would register. This unit has the upgraded shorts test. As well as the filament voltage upgrade kit installed. The tester does test a number known weak tube bad and good ones good. But you'll probably want to have this serviced/service it ... moreyourself so the calibration is right on. This is a Jackson mod. 648R dynamic tube tester made in late 50's or early 60's. It's in great shape cosmetically with basically just surface rust on the case hinges and a little dirt. It hasn't been tested but when plugged in. The meter needle goes to the middle, all the knobs rotate smoothly, the tube specs chart rolls nicely etc. This is the later 648R mod, which along the s mod. seem to be the most favored. These Jackson testers are recognized as one of the top brands. This will be sold"as is" as I have no means to test it. Has an instruction sheet fastened to the inside of the lid.

Tube tester is in very good shape and works fine. Case is rough. Includes Vacuum Tubes Inc book that provides additional tube data for many obsolete tubes. This tester is sort of a cross between an emissions tester and a mutual conductance tester in that it uses proportional AC voltages on the tube elements instead of simply tying all of the elements together.

You can see the needle move to the center when it is on. And the tube I had in tested good when I pressed the buttons. Comes with instructions and tube charts.
