Clean, and accurate EICO model 628 tube tester with the attractive brushed aluminum ... morepanel from my collection. The EICO 628 was the successor to the very popular model 625. With sockets added to test the newer tubes that were becoming available. In addition to the usual octal, loctal, 7& 9-pin miniature sockets, Eico added 5& 7-pin nuvistor sockets, novar and compactron sockets, plus 7& 9-pin pin straighteners. The 9-pin socket is actually a combination 9& 10-pin miniature socket. The 628 also has a vastly improved roll chart. The old 4. 5, 6& 7-pin sockets are gone to make room for the new ones. But the older tubes can still be tested. In fact, the data is still on the roll chart and in the tube data manual(included) All it takes is a simple adapter you can make for yourself from an old 8-pin tube base and the socket of your choice. The EICO series of test instruments were intended for professional use. And were marketed mostly to radio and TV repairmen through the local electronic parts dealerships, and their construction shows it. The professional looking brushed aluminum panel was designed to inspire confidence in the customer who saw it, and the heavy steel case of this instrument was intended to protect it well. The circuit was licensed from Triplett and is the same as the Triplett 3413. Heath and Knight also licensed the circuit and produced it as the Heathkit models TC-x and IT-xx. Knight testers are known as the KG-600 series. The test data for all of these tube testers is generally interchangeable. As can be seen from the tag on power cord and the"Tested" stamp on the inside of the case, this is a factory wired instrument- perhaps important if you want to be sure it was done correctly. Eico didn't provide any calibration adjustments for this model tester. Relying instead on the inherent accuracy achieved by the use of close tolerance components in the measuring circuits. Up for bids is a Hickok model 799 tube tester with CA-99 adapter. This tester is being s old in working order. Cosmetically tester is clean. Lettering is bold. All knobs are present, outer case is in pretty good shape. This is tester was compared against results using our TV-7D/U and it was very accurate, although it seems to be a bit more conservative on 6SN7 tubes. It is a solid state unit, and very simple to calibrate, which it could probably use and is suggested. Sold in working condition with new copy of manual plus original. This auction includes a Jackson model 658-1 vacuum tube tester in good working condition and with it's original owner's manual and supplemental tube data booklet. As the photos show. This unit is quite clean for it's age and all of the controls and push-buttons operate smoothly. All of the sockets are clean and are not cracked anywhere. The power cord is still in great shape without being brittle and the scroll tube data chart is still easy to read. The photos show this tester testing a 6L6 output tube(tube not included in auction) and, in addition, I took another photo showing that the AC line level is able to be set properly. There is a small crack in the meter cover however, it does not affect the functionality or readability of the meter. I was not able to get the small crack to show up in my photos. I bought this tube tester used as a young ham decades ago. I used it lightly over the years to test vacuum tubes for transmitters. Receivers and amplifiers. All this time it was stored on a shelf under my bench in a dry non-smoking environment. I recently powered it up to test a set of old tubes prior to sale. You'll see one of these in the photo. This is TUNG-SOL Model 78 tube tester by Seco Electronics, Inc. Seco Manufacturing Company) of Minneapolis, Minnesota U.S.A. The serial number is 5051. It is a small portable unit measuring approximately 10 1/2 x 9 x 5 inches, housed in a hinged wood box with what appears to be a plastic covering, metal hinges and latch, and a plastic handle. nice and working Sylvania tube tester Model 140. Super clean with NO corrosion or rust, tube sockets best I have ever seen on a tube tester! I have gone thru the tester and replaced all out of spec resistors and tested for proper operation, while I do not have a manual for this, I do have an online file I can email, the tester noted as a dynamic tester. The roll chart lists 9-pin tubes, however there is no 9-pin socket on it, there is a space for a socket so that a 9-pin can be wired in, although I do not have instructions for doing so, probably can be found online. HICKOK CARDMATIC 1230 TUBE TESTER - VERY CLEAN - NEEDS REPAIRS - 123 / 123A
Nice Hickok 1230 tube tester in very clean condition. Too bad it needs repair work. As seen in the third picture testing a known good 12AX7 the meter does not read into the green zone as it should on line 2 and as seen in the fourth picture the needle does not fully return to zero, if left to sit off for a period of time the needle will return closer to zero but it never quite gets there. Several other known good tubes have been tested and only one read into the green zone and I believe that one was a rectifier tube. The meter is labeled 123A, this may or may not be the correct meter for this- I'm sure the Hickok aficionados will know and maybe share a bit of knowledge as WEB searches have revealed little info on this tester, any shared info will be posted in the Q&A section at the bottom of the page. Thumbing through the test cards ... morethey appear to all be in excellent condition, there are an estimated 500+ cards included inside the case, the cards are marked"123" I assume the 123/A tester is very similar to this tester, see my other listing for a HUGE set of 123/A cards that will work in this tester. The tester accepts and releases the test cards with no issues, the power stays on and the off switch works well. The power cord is dry rotted and will need replaced, the case is nice showing only a couple of minor blemishes in the tolex, the metal hardware outside the case is mostly clean with some minor flash rust, the leather handle shows some minor cracking and is still very solid, the inside panel is very nice and clean- I can't imagine this will need a lot to get it going again- possibly just needing re-caped and the tubes replaced, that seems to do the trick on most of these old testers from my experience. The tester is large and heavy weighing in at almost 42 pounds and measuring approximately 20.5" by 17" by 9.5" no manuals or other literature is included. This is a nice working BK 747 Dynamic Mutual Conductance Solid State Tube Tester. All Switches. Pots, and tube sockets were cleaned and/or tightened. Caig Deoxit was used to clean the contacts. Bulbs for the heater and overload are good. The plastic over the meter is clean and free of scratches! Meter movement is nice and smooth Several known tubes were tested to ensure proper operation of this tube tester. The hinge is tight to open and pops when you do open it. External metal hardware shows some surface corrosion that can be easily cleaned. We have sold and shipped over 50 tube testers over the last 15 years. HICKOK 539C TUBE TESTER WORKS WELL, CLEAN, TESTS HAM RADIO AMP MUSIC
This offering is for a nice HICKOK 539C TUBE TESTER. The case is solid and presentable. But it does show signs of use. But it has done, and continues to do- it's assigned job of providing protection to the tester. The tester itself is very clean, and seems to work well. This is a fairly complicated tester, I ordered a high-quality, color operator's manual so I could test the unit, this manual will be included with the tester when shipped. The roll chart is dated SPRING 1969, and rolls smoothly. All the meters work smoothly and properly, push buttons work properly, I do not find any problems with this tester. Hiowever, I am not familiar with a tester of this complexity, so I cannot atttest to proper functioning of all the various moptions and tests possible with htis Hickok. So O am selling it as-is, but I do believe it does basic ... morefunctions properly, and likely all functions etc. The 539C seems to work well, I have attempted to compare the test results to the results on my recently calibrated( by Dan Nelson in AZ) TV7-D, but that is not so easy to do since they have different scales.but a tube that tested borderline bad on my TV7-D also tested to be right between acceptable and bad. So I believe the tester to be working well, but I have always believed a tester of unknown calibration date should be re-calibrated to be really accurate on all tube types. All testers should be calibrated every decade or so, if the user wants extreme accuracy. They test a wide range of tubes, with a total of 14 sockets for different types of tubes. All the hardware woeks great, the latches, hinges, and the heavy duty handle all function properly. somewhat corroded. but all work fine. The Hickok 799 Mustang is Hickok's only Solid State tube tester that they produced. This particular unit has had one upgrade which is a new capacitor on the meter. The one removed was good and will be included. The tester is calibrated per the calibration instructions and works perfect. The unit itself is in great condition as you can see in the pictures. The Hickok 799 Mustang includes the instruction manual(dated 1965) and tube data that is in addition to the tube data on the unit itself. Very clean tube tester. A reliable workhorse in very nice condition on the inside. No rust on the hardware inside or out. But the cover's a little rough in places as the pictures show. Comes with cap probe, test data book, and original user's manual, which includes a fold-out circuit diagram. I calibrated it according to the procedure in the manual. All internal voltages are within spec, and tube test results agree with my other B&K 700. I have not gone as far as cleaning all the switches, but they seem to make good contact as they are. NICE CLEAN HEATHKIT TC-2 TUBE TESTER SERVICED AND READY TO TEST TUBES
Very nice condition Heathkit TC-2 Tube Tester. This unit has been gone over and is in great working condition. I took the unit apart cleaned it all up. Changed the bad plate cap wire, cleaned all the pots and switches. Also Made sure it calibrates to the standard of my calibration tube that has been in lots of tube testers. The box and cord are also in good shape. The tube sockets are nice and tight, So I doubt this tester was used too much at all. This one isn't an old Donkey, Nobody ever used it much. I try to earn my keep, Thanks and enjoy.
