With sockets added to test the newer tubes that were becoming available. In addition to the usual octal, loctal, 7& 9-pin miniature sockets, Eico added 5& 7-pin nuvistor sockets, novar and compactron sockets, plus 7& 9-pin pin straighteners. The 9-pin socket is actually a combination 9& 10-pin miniature socket. The 628 also has a vastly improved roll chart. The old 4. 5, 6& 7-pin sockets are gone to make room for the new ones. But the older tubes can still be tested. In fact, the data is still on the roll chart and in the tube data manual(included) All it takes is a simple adapter you can make for yourself from an old 8-pin tube base and the socket of your choice. The EICO series of test instruments were intended for professional use. And were marketed mostly to radio and TV repairmen through the local electronic parts dealerships, and their construction shows it. The professional looking brushed aluminum panel was designed to inspire confidence in the customer who saw it, and the heavy steel case of this instrument was intended to protect it well. The circuit was licensed from Triplett and is the same as the Triplett 3413. Heath and Knight also licensed the circuit and produced it as the Heathkit models TC-x and IT-xx. Knight testers are known as the KG-600 series. The test data for all of these tube testers is generally interchangeable. Vintage Allied Knight Tube Tester Triplett Meter Old Radio TV Octal Big Pin USA. SOLD AS-IS. This is an old Knight tube tester as sold by Allied Radio. It was made in the USA and while I am not sure of the date I would guess it to be late 1950s. There is no model number on it. Though it appears very similiar to 600 series units I have seen. This vintage unit tests 4, 5, 6 and 7"big pin" tubes as well as octal, loktal, 7& 9 pin miniatures. It is not setup for subminiatures, compactrons or nuvistors. The case measures approximately 14"x10"x6" The unit shows some normal wear and tear, the worst damage being a slight bend to the pointer on the meter(see photos. I checked a few tubes with it and found that some seemed to work fine but others did not show any reading at all. Working Triplett 3413A Tube Tester. Nice working Triplett tube tester. Tests most vintage and popular tubes. Tube roll chart rotates easily. Nice feature is that the roll chart lights up with two bulbs. I show it testing a 6SN7 tube. The interior is very clean and without damage. The exterior is nice too with no dents just some light scuff marks. It was never stored in a damp place so there is no rust or musty smell. Handle and cover latch nice too. It comes with the old roll chart which is a bit wrinkled. Instructions are in nice shape and included. INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: I WILL NOT SHIP THIS ITEM Internationally. This item is a Vintage Triplett Master Unit Test Set. This is from circa 1934. There are 4 testers in the set. Model 1200 volt/ohm/ meter. A model 1210 tube tester. A model 1220 free point tester. A model 1230 direct reading all wave generator. These testers are fit into one black carrying case. There are separate testing pieces as shown in the photos. This item is used and untested. Triplett 3414 tube tester: Fully functional. I replaced a bad capacitor in this. And cleaned all pots and switches about 10 years ago, and it still works great! Includes'socket savers' on the 7 and 9 pin sockets. Leather' covering is peeling off at edges. And torn at corners, but the wood enclosure itself is good and solid. I'm including a CD which contains a PDF Tube Supplement and Cross Reference List from 1972; 59 pages of tubes to supplement the original Roll Chart. Also included is the Instruction Manual on CD. Selling my Vintage Triplett vacuum tube tester after it serving me well for many years. I just don't have the use for it anymore as I am not as active as I used to be in the antique radio hobby. This set is in excellent original condition and even includes original hang tags and even has the original warranty card that was never mailed. My Dad had sent away for a manual from the Triplett company and he was fortunate enough for them to mail him back a photo copy of the manual that is also included as well as the mailing they sent for other products. They are still in business today! This tester is very much like other brands like Hickok or Precision or Jackson. As far as condition the carry handle just broke off on me when I went to pick it up but it can be easily repaired for appearance, I should of known better not to try and use the ... morehandle on any vintage radio or test equipment. This is a True Mutual Conductance tube tester. The unit is perhaps the finest tube tester available or ever produced for the mainstream public and the beauty of this one is that it has been completely refurbished and upgraded by the best in the business on the Triplett 3444 my friends at C. G. Industries in Florida. See the photo of the sticker on the meter it was just calibrated last year and has seen approx. 150 hours use so it is ready to go as it is good for 5000 hrs. after the calibration. That's a lot of tube testing. Tester was brought back to factory specs and I had them add a circuit that doubles the amount of plate current the meter will read. This I-177-B was calibrated by the professional who made the upgrades and it is calibrated. The tester comes with a manual and other useful information about this tester and a three ring binder with all the tube data that is printed on thick quality paper. The line with a 6L6 in the socket is 6.16 volts on a DMM and a 6L6 that has a Gm of 5300 can be seen being tested with the same results on the 6000 scale as well as the 15000 scale. The 83 was tested on a 752 and the results were 1000/950 and 650 is the min. so it is a good tube ... morethat should last. The 5y3 was tested almost new. Scratches, and chipped paint. The screws that hold the chassis into the case and the bottom feet are missing. The handle is taped and may not be original. The octal plug on the set analyzer cable has a missing locating key, but you could replace it with a plug taken from an old metal tube. The tube chart is present, and the tube tester portion works. Westmore 501 same as Triplett 3444 mutual conductance tube tester
Here is a Westmore 501 tube tester. From what I have found it is almost identical to the Triplett 3444 tester but made for the government. You can research that more if needed. I assume if you are bidding you know what a great tube tester these are. I have had it for about a dozen years and got it from an old ham operator. I can't tell you much about the calibration since I have never had it calibrated. It does seem to all work fine and I have used it to test many tubes like 6SN7's for my Mcintosh amplifiers and they fall into the normal ranges. The case is in nice condition with a few worn corners. And the seller on eBay told me it was completely refurbished, calibrated and verified. I received it, it is immaculate. I cannot either figure how to use it, or it is in need of further calibration. DETAILED DESCRIPTION: For sale is this vintage Triplett 2413 tube tester. Tester is in good mechanical condition(no dents. No missing knobs, nothing broken) but is missing lid. The lid is where the test data settings booklet is stored, and that is also missing. So I have no manual or settings data for this. I searched online and there are plenty of people selling copies of the data booklet for around $10, so it is available. I did find an article online from the October. 1947 Radio News magazine which reviewed the tester and had a very limited list of tube settings. Using this list, my good calibrated Hickok 600A, and a box of tubes I had laying around; I was able to verify the tester works properly. I didn't check every single setting but I did test some 6L6's, an 80 rectifier, and one or two other tubes. Other than the missing lid(and ... moredata. And manual) the only issue I saw was the wire for the grid cap is frayed at the hole where it goes inside the tester and should be replaced before it shorts out. And the 83 is stamped. Tested both and both tested as good as new on Hickok 752; 1000 on both sections of the 83 where 600 is the min. and 650 on both sides of of the 5y3 and 300 is the min. With a 6L6 in the socket the filament voltage is 6.39 VAC. A new three-prong cord was added and the original plug will be included. One issue is that the cap wire is cracking near where it is plugged in to the tester. But works fine. One half of a hinge is missing on the top of the case. The tester is also measuring Gm very close to other Hickok testers we have. 6000a, 750, and a 752. Triplett 3423 Tube Tester - No Reserve
Nice Looking Triplett 3423 Tube Tester. I mainly work on Hickok 600. 800, 6000 series and bought this to basically learn how they work. The Triplett offers 250V plate voltage which is higher than the Hickok's at 150V. Tester tested within specs when I got it. But I haven't had time to really go over it, and I need the room in the shop, so Im passing it on. It now is registering tubes quite high, so Im selling as Parts, As Is, no Returns. I have a picture of a 12AX7 being tested. Adjusting the bias does move the reading, so its working just not reading correctly any more. Inside its generally all original including the calibration pots still have the original sealant paint on them to prevent movement. A recap might just do the trick but expect to at least calibrate. Fortunately, this one was built bu SIMPSON, A KNOWN LEADER IN ELECTRONIC TEST EQUIPMENT. I tested a number 80 rectifier tube, and it tested very close to what the tube tests on my calibrated TV7-D workhorse. But on a#26 tube, it tested it lower than my TV7-D did. So here is a great, well built tube tester that works but really would benefit from a calibration. I have downloaded step-by-step instructions from the web for calibrating this unit. I have repainted the case, it is amazingly dent-free indication it has been well cared for- most of these have various dents etc. Very original, thew wire for the acorn-type tube clip is dry and brittle, the other leads and power cord is in good condition.
