You are bidding on one Vintage EICO Model 667 Dynamic Conductance Vacuum Tube and Transistor Tester. Useful for testing and debugging vintage electronics. Including guitar amplifiers and antique radio equipment. Rolls turn. Mechanical switch interlocks and reset work. Some black electrical tape on one of the levers. Up for auction is a vintage Eico Model 625 tube tester. The serial number is 68782W. I recently purchased a number of vintage tube related items from an estate and this tester came from that group. The tester was plugged in and it lights up. But I don't know how to test it properly. The roll chart scrolls smoothly and the cabinet is in good shape, but needs a cleaning. RARE VINTAGE EICO TV RADIO HAM VACUUM TUBE TESTER MODEL 625 WORKS
This is my father's beloved Eico Model 625 Eico Tube Tester. Has the 4, 5, 6, and 7-pin sockets, the Octal/Loctal, 7-Pin and 9-Pin Miniature sockets. It has Shunt, Line Adjustment, Filament, Selector, with a few other swithes. The center scroll moves freely and guessing it is original as it is somewhat discolored. The light behind the scroll lights up. I was too afraid to plug in a tube, afraid I would blow up something either on the machine or the tube itself. It does not have the original instruction manual. The front is a vibrant blue with grey edges and the case is military green. History: My father was in the US Air Force and was a radio operator. He retired and they hired him as a civilian associate. For as long as I can remember. My father collected radios and restored them. He worked on Radios, TVs and HAM radios for anyone who ... moreasked him. It was his hobby and he enjoyed it up until a few years ago when he became ill. We are now auctioning the radios, testers and components to assist offsetting the loss of his income for my mother. If it does not work. Mail it back to me and I will refund your money. I would rather have it sitting on my shelf than destroyed. It worked properly 2 years ago and was in the cabinet, stored in his workshop. This was what he used for his hobby though all of his testers worked. Here's a nice. Very clean Eico model 667 tube and transistor tester. It's the model with the sockets for 7, 9 and 10 pin miniatures, 5,6, and 7 pin subminatures,octals, loctals, and Compactrons. The Eico 667 is the last and the best of the Eico tube testers. This is the one you want if you're working with vintage electronics. The Eico 667 tester is of the"Dynamic Conductance" type which was originally designed by Jackson as an improvement over simple emission testers without infringing on Hickok's patented"Dynamic Mutual Conductance" design. Eico licensed it from Jackson. And produced a very good tester of this type. The Eico version has an advantage over many, in that it actually measures leakage values on the tester meter instead of using a simple go/no-go"shorts" lamp. This is invaluable for ... morefinding leakage paths that simply don't show up using the less sensitive lamp method. Perhaps one of the nicest features of the Eico 667 tester is the use of precision wire-wound resistors in the measuring circuits- a feature usually found only in the most expensive equipment. As a result. They have held their values and are still well within tolerance. The Eico series of tube testers were intended for professional use. They were marketed mostly to radio and TV repairmen through the local electronic parts dealerships. And their construction shows it. The professional looking brushed aluminum panel was designed to inspire confidence in the customer who saw it, and the heavy steel case of this instrument was intended to protect it well. Vintage Eico Vacuum Tube Tester Model 625 Electronic Test equipment
This tester seems to work ok. Occasionally I would have to flip or rotate the switches a couple of times to get it to work. The more I used it. The better it seemed to work. I'm not for sure but it would seem that maybe some of the contacts need cleaned, maybe blown out? Also the needle seems to jump or jitter around while testing, I don't know if this is normal. The face plate is in pretty good condition with some minor dings and scuffs. The outer housing is missing a lot of the finish and has some minor surface rust. I'm not sure if the two light bulbs on the lower corners are working. They had never came on when I tested a few tubes. It looks like the power cord may have been replaced. The information/data scroll has one small spot that had been tore and taped back together(see picture) My knowledge of things of this nature ... moreare minimal. Vintage EICO 625 Tube Tester Restored and Calibrated
Here for your consideration is a good working. Guaranteed Eico model 625 tube tester. This is a great tester for musicians. Hi-Fi owners, Hams, hobbyists, tube collectors, etc. This tester has been professionally repaired and tested for calibration. It tests most popular audio and radio tubes. Including 6L6, 6V6, 6550, EL34, 6CA7, 6BQ5/EL84, 12AX7, 12AT7, most rectifier tubes, etc. It also tests the old four, five and six pin tubes, as well as seven and nine pin miniatures and loctals. There is no socket for compactrons, although Eico made an adapter(model 610) which sometimes shows up on Ebay. This is an emission tester. It does not measure transconductance like much more expensive Hickoks. But it will certainly tell you if your tubes are good or bad, and check for shorts. If you are in the business of selling tubes, you need a Hickok. If ... moreyou just need to know the basic condition of your tubes, then this tester will work fine for you. You can test tubes very fast with this tester. It is easy to set up and use. It is also not as susceptible to damage from incorrect setups as some testers. An inexperienced user can easily damage a Hickok. I have repaired and restored this tester to good working condition. The Carbon composition resistors that affect calibration have usually drifted badly out of tolerance on these testers. I replace them with modern 2% tolerance resistors. The tester is now very accurate. I have owned several of these. As well as several Hickoks, and it reads consistent with all of them. I replaced the old two-wire AC line cord with a grounded three-wire cord for your safety. I replaced the test leads with good quality test prod wire. One of the top cap connectors is chipped. But it does not affect it's function. I replaced some missing knobs using correct types. I also repainted the outer case which had some rust. The internal wiring was in poor condition due to age and poor wiring practice by the original assembler. I replaced most of the original wires with new vinyl insulated wiring and added a terminal board to better organize the wiring and on which to secure the several resistors. Also improved the bearing arrangement of the chart rollers for smoother action. Refurbished tester has been tested with several tubes from an early short wave receiver and it appears to function as designed. Normally you set the controls as indicated in the charts and then turn on the tester and then when the tube warms up you adjust the pointer to the LINE mark(halfway) The pointer doesn't move when the tester is turned on and nothing happens when I adjust the knob. When I push the short merit button. The pointer moves to give a condition value, but without the line adjust, there is not way to know how good that value is(as far as I know) I don't know if there is anything else wrong with it. This being the case, I am selling it for parts or repair. In addition. Vintage Eico 628 Tube Tester Nice!
Here is a nice working Eico Model 628 Tube Tester. I’ve owned this tester for quite a few years. And use it occasionally. Functionally, this tester works fine. All switches work, and the sockets are in nice shape. In the picture I’m testing a 12AT7(not included) Over the years, I’ve tested many different tube types and this tester has never failed me. Cosmetically, the unit is ok. I’d say a 7 out of 10. The face has some marks on it, and the meter face has some crazing(I think that’s what you call it) but it is very readable and does not affect the operation of the unit. The tube chart(roll) works fine. There is a tear at the end of the roll that was repaired with tape. This is how I got the unit. It works so I didn’t mess with it. This tester also comes with the original construction and operating manuals. It also comes with a tube supplement ... morebook. These are originals, not reprints! Up for bids is a Vintage Eico 625 Tube Tester in excellent condition. A very easy-to-use tube tester that will test a wide variety of tubes for guitar amps. Stereos, radios, etc. Does all the basic tube tests read on a GOOD/BAD scale. Tester spent most of it's life inside a small wooden cabinet and it was used sparingly so it is really clean for it's age. I tested it against my Triplett 3413-B with several different tubes and it gave similar results. Includes original owners' manual, a NOS roll chart still in it's cardboard tube, a Westinghouse guide to vacuum tubes, and a tube chart supplement. Will be packed very well for shipping. Original paperwork/manuals, Tube chart supplement sheet, paper roll for inside plus two extra Tube Substitution Handbooks dated1960/1969. Machine powers on. Lights works and all components are accounted for. Line adjusts needle perfectly and needle seems to work as it should. NOT FULLY TESTED WITH TUBES. We do not have the sized tubes to test. Average wear from age and use- no damage noted. Some scuffs/scratches. Missing 4 screws that mount machine into case. Currently has four in place which has machine secured and does not move. Vintage Eico 666 Vacuum Tube Valve Tester
The fine item you are considering is a Vintage Eico 666 Vacuum Tube Valve Tester. I have lots of photos below. So be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this page to take a better look. This well made vintage tester looks to be in good overall condition, is powering up, and I tested a few tubes with it. The only issue I can find are that sometimes the roller chart sticks and doesn‘t want to turn all that well(but it eventually will turn) and I also was unable to find a socket for testing smaller tubes like 12AX7‘s, so perhaps you‘d need some kind of adapter for these which I do not have. No reserve. This auction is for a vintage Eico model 625 tube tester. Description to follow but first please note I can't always ship things out right away. Sometimes it can take a week before I can send a package so if that's an issue please contact me first. It looks complete and in generally good condition but the glass lens for the gauge on top has come unglued from it's frame and is resting on the face of the gauge, that definitely needs to come apart and get reglued to avoid damaging the gauge needle before turning it on. The unit may need more service beyond that, I don't know, I'm selling it as-is, I got this from an auction, it was stored nicely when I got it but I don't know how to use it so I can't test it out.
