The light comes on when you turn it on and the needle moves when you turn the Set Line Knob and that's as far I can test this. The red wire coating is cracked and the plastic cover over the needle is scuffed and cracked. Other than that this looks good. There are some instruction papers that are chewed up, there is a Brochure book for 1958 Heathkits. There are three fold out papers with diagrams on them. HERE'S A VERY NICE TUBE TESTER AT A BARGAIN PRICE. It does need some knowledgeable TLC however. As you can see this tester is in VG+ to excellent original condition. Case is fine. Roll chart exceptional. All lettering. Knobs, etc. mechanically OK. No loose switches, etc. Inside the unit is very clean and shows no signs of shop abuse, such as smoke or being left on continuously. The mystery is it will test some tubes exactly as you'd expect and some it doesn't! It may be a poor solder joint or a switch contact that I've overlooked. Moreover, I've given it a general cleaning and inspection and still haven't located the intermittent problem. As mentioned the roll chart is smooth and still very white indicating low use. The meter is in fine shape with no signs of abuse and few scratches. The transformer shows no signs ... moreof rust/corrosion and runs very cool and quiet. Here's a very nice Heathkit TC-2 tube tester in full-working condition. The light-up data roller is very cool. The unit has been tested with new-old tubes and found to read within manufacturer specs. This is an emissions-type tester. So it doesn't test for mutual conductance. It comes with the original users manual(not pictured) and tube-data update booklets. The plate-clip lead wire has some brittle insulation that can be taped or replaced. Please make sure the item is suitable for your needs. Heathkit Tube Tester. Model# TC-2. Works great. Comes with copies of assembling and instruction manual, supplement test data sheets and test data for seldom used tubes. Also has a built in roll chart for tube test set up. Test sockets for 4, 5, 6, 7 pin early type tubes, 8 pin octal and loctal tubes and 7, 9 pin miniature tubes. All switches, controls and sockets were cleaned. Circuit capacitors and some resistors were replaced, newer roll chart window. Good power cord and grid cap lead. Great for testing audio, amplifier, stereo, hi/fi, radio and tv tubes. Shows some age. But is in overall very good condition. Very useful tester with a lot of great features!

I didn't test other sockets. However. I never got a chance(time) to go thru with any major check up or calibration. This auction is on a used. Vintage Heathkit TC-2 emission vacuum tube tester. It has been tested with a few different type tubes and appears to be working properly. The face of the actual tester is very clean, with the only notable issue being a fine crack about 2" on the meter lens, along with some minor scuffing and scratches. Not as bad as it sounds, as the meter can still be read just fine. The meter is made by Simpson for Heathkit and works properly. The case shows normal wear and tear but still looks good and is structurally sound. Comes with all paperwork shown, along with an adapter for picture tubes. Up for auction is an original vintage Heathkit model TC-2 portable tube tester dating from the 1960's. Comes with the manuals as seen in the photos. Tube tester is in its original carrying case as seen in the photos. The case is in nice shape and has normal wear on the surface. Could use a good cleaning. Tube tester works as it should and needs the red wire replaced(has a crack in it) Face is in great shape with no dents. No rust, no deep scratches, no cracks and all the lettering is in great shape. All the dials work great and has some normal wear on the clear window as seen in the photos. Weighs 11 1/2 pounds unpacked and measures approx. 14 1/2" wide by 6 3/8" tall. Any ... moreelectronics for that matter. I purchased it in a lot at auction. I can tell you I plugged it in. The lights came on under the chart(picture 2) and the needle went to center. Well, almost center, in the yellow anyway, as shown in picture 9. The chart is a little off kilter. And when you roll it, it's not always even and dips and rises as you're turning it, and seems loose inside. Maybe there's an adjustment underneath to take up the slack? There is a cut/ splitting in the casing of the red wire in more than one spot. So that will need to be changed. There is a pretty good patina build up on some spots. It surely needs a good cleaning. There is also some cracking at the top of the clear"window" covering the needle as shown in picture 9. Nothing horrible. The case is pretty crappy. The covering is peeling all over and one corner is coming apart or has come apart and barely hanging together. Also. It's clearly been stored in a basement, so has that musty basement smell. It comes with the manual which is hallway decent shape. Certainly useable, and a"Tube Test Data" booklet for Heath Model TC-1& TC-2 for use with roll chart 1-1-66, which this

Working Heathkit TC-2 Tube Tester Same as TC-1 Test 4 Pin Rejuvinate Tubes
This is a TC-2. It is the same design as the TC-1. This was an early TC-2 and Heath changed the model number right on the panel. Both use the same tube data. There are many. Many websites will LOTS of info on these nice testers. Note: There is a space hole where you can add a new socket for say. A WD-11 tube or for others. The instruction manual(not included but readily available for free download online) tells how to set up the switches for new types of tubes. This makes it easy to use this to rejuvenate Thoriated Tungstun filament tubes. You just set the switch for filament voltage but no plate voltage. Most of these older tubes can be brought back to life this way and you can give them a higher filament voltage"shot" to get them going. I have another one of these I'm keeping. Heathkit Tube Checker, Model TC-2 project
This auction is for a Heathkit TC-2 tube tester that has an open winding on the transformer. The winding is 30 Volt which is in series with the plate supply winding. This can be easily fixed by just using a small 28 to 30 V transformer in place of this winding. Everything else appears to OK. The line adjust works fine. See the scanned schematic. Vintage Heath Co. Heathkit Vacuum Tube Tester Checker Model TC-2 With Manual This is a nice vintage Heathkit TC-2 tube tester. It has only been tested to power up. It does power up with no issues. The light behind the tube list comes on and the needle on the meter goes to the yellow area when powered up. No further testing has been done. Overall this does have wear but looks good for its age. Outside case is original and has general surface wear. Corners are beat up and one is especially torn. Looks like someone added tape all the way around or it was put there by the company(looks decorative) Overall size is 14 1/2" x 12" x 6 1/2" The lid inside has a place where it is gaping but still sealed from outside. see last pic) A bit musty smelling.No burning smell hisses or noise.

NICE CLEAN HEATHKIT TC-2 TUBE TESTER SERVICED AND READY TO TEST TUBES
Very nice condition Heathkit TC-2 Tube Tester. This unit has been gone over and is in great working condition. I took the unit apart cleaned it all up. Changed the bad plate cap wire, cleaned all the pots and switches. Also Made sure it calibrates to the standard of my calibration tube that has been in lots of tube testers. The box and cord are also in good shape. The tube sockets are nice and tight, So I doubt this tester was used too much at all. This one isn't an old Donkey, Nobody ever used it much. I try to earn my keep, Thanks and enjoy.
