Vintage Tube Tester SECO 107- 120 Volt A unit of US-based Vintage SECO 1950-th. The compact Tube Tester allows for testing of nearly 5.000 American and European tubes! Vintage TUNG-SOL Seco Model 78 Vacuum Tube Tester - Clean, Works
I bought this tube tester used as a young ham decades ago. I used it lightly over the years to test vacuum tubes for transmitters. Receivers and amplifiers. All this time it was stored on a shelf under my bench in a dry non-smoking environment. I recently powered it up to test a set of old tubes prior to sale. You'll see one of these in the photo. This is TUNG-SOL Model 78 tube tester by Seco Electronics, Inc. Seco Manufacturing Company) of Minneapolis, Minnesota U.S.A. The serial number is 5051. It is a small portable unit measuring approximately 10 1/2 x 9 x 5 inches, housed in a hinged wood box with what appears to be a plastic covering, metal hinges and latch, and a plastic handle. There are 4 metal feet on the bottom. The case has two compartments. On the right side is the electronics chassis with tube sockets, switches, pots, plate ... morecap, and meter. It tests filament continuity, shorts and merit. This side also contains a compartment to store the standard 110 VAC line cord. The other side contains the operating instructions and a set of tube setup data cards that define the proper settings of the instrument for each model tube. Up for sale is a vintage Seco Model 1100 Tube Tester with lighted RCA sign. It was a store display model and is quite large with many differ It appears to be in good condition. Tube tester is being sold in"as is" untested" condition. The back features a scroll featuring the different model tubes and settings for testing. The plastic light cover has some crackling/cracks on the it due to age(please see all pictures for any condition issues) But other wear is fairly minor, and par for the course when dealing with vintage items. This is a must have for any collector of vintage radio/tv equipment. If one could test all features, it could potentially be used to test and repair old tv and radio tubes. This is a large item and would make a great conversation piece. It has a fun vintage look.
