U.S. Army Signal Corps Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Here is a great vintage tube tester for checking out those old tubes. Made for the U.S. Army Signal Corp by the Daven Corp. Model I-177-B made in the 1950's. Serial Number 1511. I don't know a thing about this tester. My brother was a big collector of military items and this was in his collection. It looks to be in good condition. Not all beaten up. Can't say if it works or not. It has the original w prong power wire plug still intact. The Department of the Army Technical Bulletin TB 11-2627-2 is still in place and in good condition. The case.It is in, looks to be factory painted"Navy Gray" over"Army Olive Drab" that can be seen through a few scratchs on the case. It is that color inside and out. 100% sure done as a factory color change as it's ... moreso well done. So probably was used in the Navy vs in an Army field position, if used at all. There is a data/ serial# plackard on the front of the case by the handle. Hard to read as it' has a light coat of gray paint over it. Since I don't know how to use it or have a tube to test. I'm leaving it as unknown working condition. I'm selling this tester for my sister-in-law who can use the money more than this tester. Low starting bid with no reserve. Shipping.Handling and insurance to any address in the 48 continental united states will be $25.00 If you live anywhere outside this area. Shipping and insurance will be actual + a $10.00 handling fee. No exceptions. please don't ask If you plan to pay by check. I hold shipping for 14 daysfor your check to clear. Please ask questions"BEFORE" bidding I combine shipping if you buy more than 1 item I have for sale. Thank you for looking. Jim Knight. Newark delaware 19702.

Not Working I-177 1945 Military Tube Tester. Turned it on and no meter reading for any tube I try to test. I just do not have the time to mess with it right now so I am selling it as-is. The fuse lamp glows dimly when the line adjust it turned up. Please look at all my photographs for the condition. Mounting screws from chassis to case were missing. Received it from an old time radio guy but that's about all I know about it. Chassis looks to be all original except the line cord may have been replaced some time ago. INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: I WILL NOT SHIP THIS ITEM Internationally. Lately many of the International customers have been very impatient for delivery times and shipping cost which I cannot control. Also Paypal now charges the seller a commission on shipping cost which can be quite excessive on an International package. It is ... morefor these reasons I am now not shipping to an International destination. Shipping weight will be approximately 32 pounds as the actual weight is 26 pounds. I only charge for actual shipping and not packing. Excess shipping paid will be refunded. Items I am selling have been acquired over the years from inheritances and the like. I am selling items to create some space as I just have too many things and too little room. Items paid for by Pay Pal will only be shipped to the registered address with Pay Pal unless previously agreed by both parties. Alternate address requests will not be honored. Payments must be received within 10 days after auction completion to avoid auction restart. Any bid withdrawls during the last day of the auction will result in restarting the auction. Refunds will only be given upon return of sale item. HAVE A GREAT TIME BIDDING!

I 177-B Military Tube Tester- Hickok& Triplett Parts Calibrated& Works Great I-177-B Military Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Calibrated and Ready to Use This I-177-B tube tester has a Hickok meter and a Triplett 350v transformer and and has been upgraded with precision resistors and new capacitors. This I-177-B was calibrated by the professional who made the upgrades and it is calibrated. The tester comes with a manual and other useful information about this tester and a three ring binder with all the tube data that is printed on thick quality paper. The line with a 6L6 in the socket is 6.16 volts on a DMM and a 6L6 that has a Gm of 5300 can be seen being tested with the same results on the 6000 scale as well as the 15000 scale. The 83 was tested on a 752 and the results were 1000/950 and 650 is the min. so it is a good tube ... morethat should last. The 5y3 was tested almost new. They are not loose, they do not feel loose, and have no effect on testing tubes are still solidly in the tester. The pictures should help with the description. UP FOR AUCTION IS A VINTAGE 1950'S US ARMY SIGNAL CORPS I-177-B TUBE TESTER MADE BY THE DAVEN COMPANY. THIS IS ONE OF MY FATHERS MANY TUBE TESTERS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A NEW TESTER. IF USED HARDLY AT ALL, AS HE SAID HE NEVER USED IT. BEEN SITTING AROUND IN THE BASEMENT SINCE HE BOUGHT IT MANY MANY YEARS AGO. IT IS IN EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITION. I TESTED A TUBE AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTO AND IT PRETTY MUCH MATCH'S UP WITH READINGS FROM A COUPLE OTHER TUBE TESTERS WITH SIMILAR RESULTS. THE TUBE SOCKETS ARE INCREDIBLY TIGHT, THE METER IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND SO IS THE FACE PLATE OF THIS TESTER. THE CASE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I DID REPLACE THE ORIGINAL CORD AND PLUG-IN WITH A NEWER AND SAFER 3 PRONG PLUG-IN AS THE OLD ONE WAS IN BAD SHAPE. DO NOT LET THIS TESTER PASS YOU BY AS THEY ARE BECOMING HARDER AND HARDER TO FIND. DUE TO THE ... moreAGE OF THIS TESTER I AM SELLING IT" AS IS" GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BIDDING.

THIS IS IN CLEAN CONDITION AND APPEARS TO HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN A DRY ENVIRONMENT. CASE DOES HAVE A FEW SMALL DENTS AND HAS SCRATCHES. THE LINE ADJUSTMENT AND LINE TEST WORKS. I HAVE BEEN USING THIS TESTER FOR SOME TIME NOW AND IT DOES WORK. OBVIOUSLY I HAVE NOT TESTED EVERY TUBE IT TESTS OR EVEN USED EVERY TUBE SOCKET IT HAS. I HAVE INCLUDED PHOTOS OF A GOOD TYPE 10 VT-25 TUBE. A KNOWN WEAK 2A3 AND A GOOD 1626 TUBE ALL BEING TESTED. THE SHORT LIGHT HAS WORKED IN THE PAST FOR ME WHEN I CAME ACROSS A TUBE WITH A SHORT. ONE TUBE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TEST WITH THIS IS AN 807. THE TUBE LIGHTS UP BUT THATS ALL. CAN GET NO READINGS. HAS A SOLID STATE RECTIFIER IN PLACE OF THE 83 AND THE WINNER MAY WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH AN 83 TUBE. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS CALIBRATED AND THAT WOULD BE ADVISED. ALL THE CORDS APPEAR IN NICE SHAPE AND PLIABLE. GOOD ... moreLUCK WITH YOUR BID. SHIPPING: THIS WILL SHIP THE FIRST SATURDAY AFTER PAYMENT. DIRECT SIGNATURE REQUIRED. Up for auction is this: I-177-B Vacuum Tube Tester US ARMY w/the proper book that gets mounted to the rings in the lid. I just missed getting that in the picture. This is in really nice condition. This has been cleaned. Inspected, and tested. The equipment is in great condition for being roughly 50 years old. Everything works properly. I will NOT say this is calibrated to any standard. I did run it for over a week straight after cleaning it so that everything had a chance to settle in and prove itself over time. The factory specs for some items are pretty broad and the equipment is very old, but everything looks great on my bench in my lab in my home. It is NOT perfect. But it will come with the correct manual that clips into the lid. It IS a nice old piece of gear though and you need to look at the pictures and decide for yourself. The ONLY ... morereason I listed this as"For parts or not working" is because I have had some people get a great piece of gear that may need a little work, at a great price, and then try and take me to the cleaners for not knowing each and every single fault on this old gear. I do my best to inspect them as best I can, sometimes we humans miss things. This WILL be double boxed and properly protected for shipping! It will NOT ship before Monday the 7th of July. Enjoy your weekend! If you have ANY questions just ask before buying. If you do not have a confirmed paypal shipping address. I WILL NOT complete the sale! NO EXCEPTIONS! This will be shipped FedEX unless you stipulate and confirm in advance of payment.
You are bidding on a VERY hard to find Tube Tester Adapter. That allows many more modern type tubes to be tested by the I-177 tube tester. I am told this"Universal" tube socket adapter will also work with many other tube testers as well; but you see it paired mainly with the Military type testers. This adapter, as you can see from my pictures, is being used to test a 12AU7 while connected to my I-177-B(which is available on my other listing) it worked just as you would expect, GREAT! What with the great original Military paint and nice pliable cabling, I don't think you can do any better than this unit. Some documentation is included but you can get a lot more; just Google"Nolan Lee" Being offered AS PICTURED/ AS IS. I will pack really well and ship quickly to you. 73's

This is an MX-949A/U Adapter Kit designed to augment the test capability of an I-177-B Tube Tester. With this kit you can test anything! I believe it also functions as a break-out box to access individual tube pins with other test equipment. There's a dent in the lid but inside it looks unused. The cover closes easily and the latches work fine as-is. Note that I'm also listing an I-177-B Tube Tester in a separate listing. Closing before this adaptor kit.
I-177-B Tube Tester by Daven looks GREAT under the lid! Appears to be all original and used very little. When I plugged it in it did not power up. All the panel screws are in place and not buggered up. I'm thinking the toggle power switch may be stuck internally and some contact cleaner may free it up- I'll report back. Also one knob is missing on the micro-mhos switch. The cover could be straightened but it closes easily and the latches work as-is. Note that I'm also listing the I-177-B's companion MX-949A/U Adaptor Box in a separate listing. Closing after the tube tester sells. 006.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk%600d72f%2B%3E006-14770084738-0x114-

Both pieces are in Very nice condition. It line adjusts great and I tested a few tubes and compared closely to my calibrated TV-7. It did not come with a manual so I did not test the MX-949A/U tube socket adapter kit but the Gentleman I purchased them from said they both worked great and the tester does so I would guess the adapter kit does also and the full manual can be purchased here on EBAY for a good price. Both cases are in nice shape with no dents or major scratches and you can tell they were both taken care of very well and they actually look a lot better in person than the pictures show. So any questions please feel free to ask and thanks for looking and good luck.

You're looking at a vtg Military US Army Signal Corps Vacuum Tube Tester I-177. From the late 40's or early 50's. I believe this was made by Triplett. As it looks the same as those I have seen for sale; the identifying metal plate has come off the front. The unit is in good overall cosmetic condition. However I have no way to test it and cannot claim that it works. The test booklet dated June 1951 comes with the unit. Nice find! I do combine shipping. I-177-B Tester has worked well for testing 5 and 6 pin tubes. I have not tested tubes using the other tube sockets of this tester. I removed the tester from its rugedized case to photograph its interior. No loose or broken parts were discovered. Tubes glow nicely. Tube socket adapter mx-949A/U has not been used by me. I do not know how to use it. Nor do I know if it works properly. The metal case is missing one hook to catch the right latch. From the estate of an avid HAM hobbyist. No international shipping unless arranged prior to bidding. FREE SHIPPING. Please email any questions or concerns and I will respond promptly. These vintage items are being offered as"used. They have not been calibrated and there is no way for me to know if they function as designed. No returns will be honored. Items are offered"AS-IS.

This has an unusual modification which makes it do the same as a MX-949 adaptor- sort of. The adapter is mounted over sockets A. B, C& D and connects through E. A-D(4, 5, 6& 7 pin) are not available for use. The MX-949 booklet in the cover does not list all the tubes it can test. The Gilardetti spreadsheet you can find online lists many more types that can be tested than the booklet does. With the adapter it is not suitable for testing early radio type tubes. The grey crackle on the case looks like it was done fairly recently. The 83 is replaced with solid state. Recently calibrated and working well for what it does test. The switch style of the mod is sort of putzy to use. Not a good tester if you're trying to test a lot at once where you would need to frequently change the settings.
Vintage Signal Corps. 1-177 B Tube Tester U.S. Army All Original W/ Tube Reference Guide. The meter line calibration and rectifier calibration are working. The shorts function is working, did not have a tube to test. So did not fully test but looks to be in good condition and may need calibration. Metal case is in original condition. Serial Number 5620
Up for your consideration is this vintage 1950 United States military dynamic mutual conductance tube tester. Model I-177-B manufactured by Simpson. There are several versions of this tube tester that were contracted and manufactured by several different companies. Some of the more common were Daven and Triplett. Even though they were manufactured by different companies. They still had to adhere to the strict military specifications. The only thing that varied from one manufacturer to another was the components used in assembling them. What is nice about this set is it was manufactured by Simpson(somewhat rarer) It is the same company that built another fine tank, the beloved Simpson 260 multi-meter. I tested this tube tester under normal conditions and allowed it to warm up for 15 minutes. I tested it with known condition tubes and it worked ... moresatisfactory. The line cord is a little dried out and should be replaced. It cracks a little when straightening it out. As with any vintage electronic piece of test equipment. I would I HIGHLY recommend getting it tuned up and CALIBRATED. There are no guarantees with this set. This listing is for a KILITARY I-177B TUBE TESTER. DESIGNED FOR THE MILITARY UNDER CONTRACT TO HICKOK, AND BUILT BY SEVERAL CONTRACTORS. Fortunately, this one was built bu SIMPSON, A KNOWN LEADER IN ELECTRONIC TEST EQUIPMENT. I tested a number 80 rectifier tube, and it tested very close to what the tube tests on my calibrated TV7-D workhorse. But on a#26 tube, it tested it lower than my TV7-D did. So here is a great, well built tube tester that works but really would benefit from a calibration. I have downloaded step-by-step instructions from the web for calibrating this unit. I have repainted the case, it is amazingly dent-free indication it has been well cared for- most of these have various dents etc. Very original, thew wire for the acorn-type tube clip is dry and brittle, the other leads and power cord is in good condition. We technicians ... morelike our test equipment to not only work well, but also to look great. Please keep an eye on my listings, I am trying to empty a small warehouse of my electronics from the past 40 years, I will be listing radios, parts, test equipment, and thousands of tubes as fast as I can test them. I am always happy to answer questions, so please feel free to ask. My packing is Overkill, these beauties must not be damaged by careless handling. Thanks for looking, Enjoy every day! This is an absolutely amazing combination and for the I-177-B to have been recently calibrated. Well, that’s like the icing on the cake! I have checked this against my Dan Nelson just calibrated TV-7 and this tester is right there with it… SO accurate and it reads in Microhos! Now in combining this tester with the MX-949A/U adapter. Which was made for the I-177-B, you can test big amateur radio transmitter tubes right on down to the small 7 pin tubes. Both units have very tight controls, socket pins and it is obvious that they saw very little use. The calibration sheets for the I-177-B will be included as well as additional testing information, including documentation for using the MX-949A/U adapter. You won’t have another opportunity to buy such a fantastic combination as this, so make sure you don’t let this one slip by! Disclaimer: All ... moreused electronics are sold AS-IS to the buyer. Most of the items are 30 to 60 years old and often times older. I do my best to check them out and describe them accurately both cosmetically and electrically. But due to the fact that most parts are original, I cannot tell how long these parts will last. Vintage electronics may need capacitors, tubes or alignment, sometimes they work just fine. Shipping to the lower 48 states only. Paypal address must be confirmed. Shipping by FedEx insured and packed very carefully.

Please read entire ad and view super sized pics before bidding or asking questions and consider the pics as part of the description. Today. For your consideration, I have a NO RESERVE auction for an exact Home Brew copy of a Military MX-949 A/U tube tester adapter/modernizer for the Military I-177 tube tester. This adapter is an exact copy. I made it several years ago out of spare parts(mostly Military spec) to match an I-177/MX-949 combo I had purchased in mint condition(was advertised as possibly being brand new old stock) and I wanted to save the MX-949 as it was. This is an exact copy but for the cosmetics and a 4 position pin straightener. It is not in the best cosmetic condition to be sure(mostly smudging/dust) BUT it works just as good as the real thing and it would probably clean up pretty well if someone wanted to devote their time ... moreto doing so. As I said. It is built from Military grade parts& it is housed in a sheet steel soldered joint box. It is very sturdy! It has a thick cork backing which is glued on and can be replaced with whatever the new owner would like. I guarantee this unit to be as described or your money back HOWEVER. Since this unit is what it is& it is guaranteed to do what it is supposed to do it is otherwise being sold as AS IS/NO RETURN. Shipping to USA addresses will be@ my cost. Well packed, in a large flat rate box via USPS Priority mail. Shipping to foreign destinations will also be in a large flat rate(international) box at my cost but all destination/customs fees for your country will be the responsibility of you. The buyer and I will not low ball the customs declaration. In person pick up is also welcome AND encouraged if you live in my neck O the woods.
