Accurate Instruments Model 257 vacuum tube tester. Picture#1 shows it testing a known good 6K6 RCA tube properly. I tested several tubes with accurate results. However, no warranty or returns on electrical stuff! Unit has not been professionally calibrated to my knowledge. Unit and case are average cosmetically and could use a good scrubbing, look closely at the pics. Handle, hinges, and latch work. Has a manual included to show settings for tube values and operating instructions. This is a later model tester and will test most vacuum tubes. All electronics I sell are"As-Is" due to parts swappers and uninformed misuse. My feedback is score is excellent! This tube tester is in rough condition. But appears to work. I tried a 7 pin and a couple of 9 pin tubes(not included) on it, and got good indications for a couple of them, and a"shorts" indication on the other. There are some handy pin straighteners in the top row, and one of the sockets is for Nuvistor tubes, which are kind of rare. I have listed it in the"for parts or not working" category. Mostly over concerns that some of the switches and sockets might need cleaning. All of the metal is rusty, and the material covering the wood enclosure is coming off. You can see this in the pictures. The manual is coming apart, but looks like it has all of the pages except for the front and back cover. It has a date of 1/68 on the first page. Please look at all of the pictures carefully for the condition. There is nothing included ... morebeyond what you see here. This is from the estate of a local ham radio operator. A vintage/original c.1960's Accurate Instrument Co. Inc. Model 257 Tube Tester w/ it's original poor condition Manual. As found at a recent estate sale, I plugged it in& it powered right up. Visually it appears to be in nice/decent original condition showing light to moderate overall wear w/ surface rust on the exterior metal surfaces. Having no knowledge of how to operate or test other than plug it in and turn on the power switch. I plugged it in and turned it on and the red power indicator light came on. Accurate Instrument Model 257 Vacuum and TV Tube Tester. Works.
This Accurate Instrument tube tester was made around 1970. It has a row of pin straighteners across the top and can test 14 different tube types. It is also capable of testing TV tubes. It is in very good overall condition and does work. It doesn't have the manual so I placed a tube in a socket and just set all the knobs at a low setting. Pressing the quality button gets the needle to move. I believe manuals are available on CD for this set. An original or reprint should also be easy to find. It's a very slim and compact tester.
