Beautiful Professionally Calibrated Hickok 6000 Tube Tester
Fully functional and calibrated Hickok 6000 Tube Tester. Calibrated by Roger Kennedy in 2012. BRAND NEW ROGER KENNEDY CUSTOM METER INSTALLED! Only five or six tubes have been tested on this unit since calibration by Roger. Out-of-spec resistors replaced. Old Capacitors replaced. Pots opened up and cleaned. Ferrite beads installed on socket wiring. New 3 wire power cord. Outer case shows some wear but is in excellent overall condition. Tube deck is mint condition. Especially around the roll chart roller. Knobs are perfect and clean. Tube sockets are clean and tight. This tester has seen very little use. Comes with all the ORIGINAL paperwork and manual. I used the Gm test ranges for the tests( set to the 3000, 6000 or 15,000 Gm red dots on the shunt dial) Here are the readings I got. The first number is the reading, the 2nd is what the average new tube should read according to the roll chart: Raytheon 6L6GB 5100/5000 RCA 12AX7 1300/1250 Sylvania 45 1950/1850 RCA 6BQ5 7500/7500. Which has some additional features including the transistor tester and the island style socket plate. The 6000 has a socket plate with all the vintage style sockets 4. 5, 6, 7, pin types, Locktal, octal, 7& 9 pin miniature. The units face plate is in great condition. The outer case has some wear spots but is in overall good shape. The inner lid of the case has some signs of wear around the edges, the outer latch hardware metal has some oxidation. I plugged the unit in and tested a tube and it appears to work, the meter needle moves when the test ... morebutton is pushed, however may need some service and/or calibration. I powered it up and tested a 12sn7 that I had tested in my calibrated TV7. the tube tested lower than the tv7 results. Enclosed are printouts for upgrades and calibration. The Roll Chart is in good working condition. It turns freely and smoothly. Photocopy of User's Manual, Test Data will be included. The tester is working condition and has been calibrated recently. The meter is original and accurate. The type 83 rectifier for Plate voltage supply and 5Y3GT for Green& Bias voltage have been replaced with strong tubes. Hickok 6000 Tube Tester is Calibrated & All Within Specs 55 Tubes & 6L6 Included
Hickok 6000 Tube Tester Calibrated& All Within Specs 50 Tubes& 6L6 Included Hickok 6000 Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Information including the manual. Calibration procedures, and updated tube data are readily available at no charge at Bama and elsewhere. All the specs were checked and the tester calibrated and the line voltage with a 6L6 in the socket is at 6.2 volts that will help ensure accurate Gm test results. The two tubes in the tester are both RCA, 83 and 5Y3, were new in 10/2013 and both tested and balanced. This tester did not come with this case and is held down with only four screws although in the original case all ten were used. The plate on the case goes to this tester and the cases and plates were swapped with another tester. We did not plan on selling this tester and the appearance of the case was unimportant ... moreas long as the tester functioned properly. All the specs were checked and the tester calibrated in 10/2013 and has been used little since. Notes during the calibration were recorded on a blank page in the manual. We use an outside source for the calibration tube and the tester is reading 5400 for Gm and the tube calls for 5475. This could be easily corrected. And according to the calibration procedures, the shunt dial would be tagged about one number or so lower to show 5475, but that has not been done and will be left up to the new owner. The calibration tube's Gm reading is from a 533A and from a very reputable and trusted source. The Hickok 6000 series is fairly simple to calibrate and instructions on calibration. The manual, and updated foreign and domestic tube data is readily available at no charge. The calibration can be done using a DMM as long as shunts are used and this tester was calibrated using both an analog and DMM. This tester has a pot to set the line voltage and with a 6L6 in the socket the line is at 6.2 volts which is where it needs to be. This is a vintage Hickok Model 6000 Micromba dynamic mutual conductance tube tester. It has the following knobs. Plug ins, buttons: Filament.6-117; bias 0-100; shunt 0-100; micromhos dynamic mutal conductance meter; fuse light; power off to line adjust; no. 49 lamp bias fuse; shorts; function A-G; filament continuity, test, gas buttons; filament A-M; grid 0-Y; plate 1-O; screen 0-Y; cathode 0-Y; suppressor 0-Y. There is a section for Selectors& Chart, but there is no levers for both. It also includes the roll chart for it. The power cord and one other short connector cord is included. Serial#18711127. A photocopy of the user manual& tube data will be included. I have plugged it in and it powers up. As you can see from pictures, but not able to fully test. It was my friend's Grandfathers unit, and has been in storage for over 15 ... moreyears. I don't know much about these, so please see pictures for condition. Great for matching audio tubes, great for testing audio, hi/fi, stereo, radio and tv tubes. Very clean inside. Good circuit tubes. Roll chart works well. Top panel in very good condition. I plugged a 6l6 tube in and it warmed up but when I pressed the test button the meter goes from? down to 0. Might be an easy fix I just don't have time to mess with it. Hickok model 6000 tube tester. Super clean face. Recently acquired from an estate. As you can see the face of this tester looks great. The case is a little beat up but not to bad. We are not techs. We are selling this"as is" described to the best of our ability. It powers up and the meter works. We have no idea if its been calibrated and we have no way to test it further. All the knobs are present and seem to do what they are suppose to do. The rubber shield on part of the power cord has crumbled a little. Beautiful Hickok 6000 Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Lightly Used AUCTION
This is a beautiful working example of one of the finest tube-testers ever built. It is one of the last of the great Hickoks and has been very lightly used. The roller tube-chart functions properly and has the test-data for many modern tubes not seen on other testers. Such as 5687, 5755, 5670. Of course the test data for the old stand-bys such as 12AX7, 6V6, 6SN7 are included, too. It tests solid-state devices such as transistors and diodes but I have never performed these tests. I have tested many tubes with this unit. It is working properly. It has not. However, been professionally calibrated. It is a true analog device and tiny changes in either the bias or shunt controls have a dramatic effect on the test reading. This is a unit you can live with for the rest of your life. If you have never used one, it takes a little time and practice ... moreto perform a test correctly. For example, there are two ways to read the output: GOOD vs. REPLACE, or in MICROMHOS(transconductance) To do the good-replace test, you use the settings on the tube chart. To test for approximate transconductance, you use one of the three red dots on the shunt knob to set the scale on the meter. You can then compare the reading on the meter to the nominal standard reading shown on the chart. Sound complicated? It isn't. It just takes a little practice and patience to become an expert. If you want to use this as a commercial tube-seller. I suggest you have it professionally calibrated. Look on ebay for folks who perform that sevice. I have read their ads and they sound like they know their stuff. In the photos you can see me testing a Russian EL34 and a Chinese 6L6GC. Both lightly used. The EL34 tests a little low. The 6L6 is right on the money. You can test your own tubes to draw your own conclusions about the calibration. Remember, even GOOD tubes test differently. Description Up for auction is a vintage Hickok Model 6000 Micromho Dynamic Tube Tester. It is in good condition. Does power up and I did test two known good tubes. It did work as the tubes passed and were good. The original fuse bulb was damaged and replaced with a lighted auto type bulb.I could not find the correct fuse. A full operational test of this unit has NOT been done. It is not known if it will fully perform as originally intended. All of the mechanicals do work with the exception of the chart that has a habit of hanging up. I do not have the adapter. It is being sold as is.as it is shown as it was described.
