Rare Working Hickok Cardmatic Test-Card Punch
This is a punch for making test cards for the Hickok Cardmatic tube tester. It came from a surplus sale at Sandia National Labs some 30 years ago. One can use it to duplicate Cardmatic cards or if one know how. They could make custom cards for special tubes which I assume is what Sandia used it for. There is no label on it so I do not know if Hickok, Sandia or someone else made it. I have never seen a Cardmatic card punch so I assume it is rare. There are no blank cards with it. I tried it out to duplicate a 12AX7 test card using stiff paper which worked fine. I had to do the card in two passes as I needed 5 more punch dies than is with the unit. I simply did one pass and then moved 5 punch dies from already punched holes to the holes remaining to be punched. Note the cardmatic test card in the pictures nor the duplicate I made do not go ... morewith the auction) As one can tell from the pictures. The paint shows some wear. The punch lever is missing, but I simply used a very large nail that I bought from Home Depot. The base measures 9 by 6 inches, and it is about 5-1/4 inches tall. It is heavy duty construction and weighs almost 24-1/2 pounds. It fits in a medium flat rate priority mail box, so shipping will be reasonable.

Offered is a lot of@1200 Hickok 123 Cardmatic tube tester cards. This lot comes in what's left of an RD Instruments case which is missing its lid. Someone added a cardboard top to keep everything in place. This card set has a little bit of everything in it. Cards start at 0A2 and run up to 9006. With a good set of 2-digit radio cards and a fair amount of 4-digit industrial cards. There's a good set of 6-volt cards for radios' ie: 6L7, 6SQ7, 6SC7 etc. A bunch of 12volt cards for 12BY7, 12AX7. 1-volt cards, 3-volt cards, 5-volt cards including 5AR4, 5U4(i think) Industrial cards starting at 5642 running through 7308. Offered is an original manual for a HICKOK 123/A Cardmatic tube tester. The manual comes complete with its original set of set-up cards. Calibration cell, and an additional set of@40 calibration cards. The calibration cell may or may not still be good. The last date for inspection was 1978, which is a few years ago. The calibration cards start at card#1 and run through#53. There is one card absent#14. These cards are for a more detailed calibration of the 123. Cards are entitled: Meter, Shorts, Bias, Main B+, DC Filament Cathode, Meter Shunt, Decade Resistor, etc. If you have a 123/A this might be a useful item for you. Shipping is extra.

Up for sale is my Hickok Cardmatic AN/USN 118B tube tester. In working condition. It is all original except for the 120 volt cord and cap. They were replaced. Included with the tester is: Tester Case. Manual, Calibration cards and Calibrator cell Shipping weight 50# Full deck of cards. Approximately 2484 cards covering 1556 tubes. Since I have never actually counted all 2484 cards.And there may be a couple missing, I am including 40 card blanks and the punch. Card holder case. The same dimensions as the tester case. I have the manual and punch in the case. Shipping weight 35# One non test card installed for shipping and one"tuck me in card" Rather worn, but original. This tester is shown in the pictures testing a 6146 and showing good quality in the meter. It is a functional tester and I have been using it regularly. Interior picture ... moreshows that it is clean with no corrosion. It would not hurt to recalibrate it. The full card deck seems to be complete. But I did not count them, so not guaranteed. 40 blanks, same as the original set, and the punch included. One supplier is selling the full decks for $500 and another $5 a card. The shipping may seem high. But remember, we are shipping two containers, plus I will not ship without insurance. The shipping calculator will not let me figure 2 containers. So the weight for two is there, but the dimensions for one container only. HICKOK CARDMATIC 1230 TUBE TESTER - VERY CLEAN - NEEDS REPAIRS - 123 / 123A
Nice Hickok 1230 tube tester in very clean condition. Too bad it needs repair work. As seen in the third picture testing a known good 12AX7 the meter does not read into the green zone as it should on line 2 and as seen in the fourth picture the needle does not fully return to zero, if left to sit off for a period of time the needle will return closer to zero but it never quite gets there. Several other known good tubes have been tested and only one read into the green zone and I believe that one was a rectifier tube. The meter is labeled 123A, this may or may not be the correct meter for this- I'm sure the Hickok aficionados will know and maybe share a bit of knowledge as WEB searches have revealed little info on this tester, any shared info will be posted in the Q&A section at the bottom of the page. Thumbing through the test cards ... morethey appear to all be in excellent condition, there are an estimated 500+ cards included inside the case, the cards are marked"123" I assume the 123/A tester is very similar to this tester, see my other listing for a HUGE set of 123/A cards that will work in this tester. The tester accepts and releases the test cards with no issues, the power stays on and the off switch works well. The power cord is dry rotted and will need replaced, the case is nice showing only a couple of minor blemishes in the tolex, the metal hardware outside the case is mostly clean with some minor flash rust, the leather handle shows some minor cracking and is still very solid, the inside panel is very nice and clean- I can't imagine this will need a lot to get it going again- possibly just needing re-caped and the tubes replaced, that seems to do the trick on most of these old testers from my experience. The tester is large and heavy weighing in at almost 42 pounds and measuring approximately 20.5" by 17" by 9.5" no manuals or other literature is included. HICKOK CARDMATIC 123 123A TEST CARDS 1400+ CARDS
Hickok Cardmatic 123/123A test card set. Most cards are marked 123- some are marked 123A. There are an estimated 1400+ cards in this set, an estimated 400 of these are of the 2, 3& 4 digit type like 80, 801 and 6025- most all of these 400 are of the 4 digit type, there are an estimated 600+ cards from 0A3 through the 6 volt tube types, the set appears to be light on 12 volt type cards but I did notice cards for popular tubes like 12AU7& 12AX7. I did not notice many doubles thumbing through the set and for the most part the cards are in order, if there are any doubles they would be of the 4 digit type, there is a stack of these(75-100 or so) out of order that makes it difficult to say one way or the other if there are many doubles of these. The down side to this set is that many cards are warped but many more than that are good or ... morejust slightly warped. Some of the warped cards may be unusable but I think most will be usable, the upside is that you will have the pattern for the tube type to punch your own cards if one of the warped cards is what you need, see sample pictures above. The cards were not properly stored and they are on the dusty/dirty side and will need cleaned before use. The pictured storage box is NOT included in this sale, the cards have been packaged for shipment so I will not be able to answer specific questions about any one card in the set, this was done to get an accurate weight for shipment, shipping weight on this set is 21 pounds for double boxed shipping. I included the opaque and colored cards with this auction as I have no use for them. Hickok Cardmatic CY-3873/USM-118A
Out of a friend's estate and up for auction is a Hickok Cardmatic tube tester. It blows the line fuse when turned on and it has been determined that the main power transformer is shorted and thus needs to be replaced. Not the transformer that supplies the voltages for all of the tube sockets-the other one. It is the one that is in the upper left hand corner of the picture that shows the underside of the tester. It is unknown if there is anything else wrong with the tester. But I did lift the leads going to the meter and, checked with a Fluke digital ohm meter got a reading of 259 ohms. Added the tube card, and read the meter indicating the tube was good, appears to be functioning properly: however, since I’m not a electronics technician, I’m unable to verify if it truly is fully functional. Up for auction. The Hickok Cardmatic Model 123 Tube Tester. This 123 comes with cards for all the popular tubes, a technical manual, the owner’s manual and a set of schematics. This Model 123 was just serviced for this auction. I took the 123 to my local repair shop and the following work was done. The main filter was replaced, the sockets were replaced, all controls and connectors cleaned and the 123 was calibrated. The 123 is in good cosmetic condition with the normal signs of age. The repair shop tested the 123 after all repairs were complete and the 123 and all of its functions were working as they should. Due to the age of the tester, this unit is being sold AS IS.

The CardMatic tube tester was built by Hickok for the Western Electric company. It uses hole-punched cards that are inserted into a card reader.
