Vintage HICKOK MODEL 546 Vacuum Radio Audio Tube Tester NO RESERVE!
Vintage test equipment in used condition. Has missing/wrong screws on face plate. There is some electrical tape around the power cord where it goes through the plaate. The carrying case shows signs of wear but overall very good condition. The paper reel is intact with no tears and the thumb dial works smoothly. Testing: Unit powers up. The line adjust works. Tested a few known good and bad tubes on the 9-pin socket only. It"passed" the good tubes and"failed" the bad ones so it appears to be somewhat functional. Instrument is not/has not been cailbrated so accuracy is not known. That is the extent of the testing that was done. No manuals. Test leads, socket adapters etc included. For sale here is a HICKOK Model 532 vacuum tube tester. The unit is working as you can see by the first picture im testing a known good 6L6. The unit does seem to be complete though unit will need a good cleaning as most tube testers do. I sprayed the insides down with deoxit to help with connectivity and electrical lubricant to help the switches turn smoothly. As with all tube testers it MUST be assumed that the unit needs a calibration. As you can see it is working powering on(pilot lamp needs replaced) etc. The roll chart is free and moving as well as the switches and knobs including a free moving meter. It applies individual voltages to all elements and sends a varying ac signal to the grid of the tube under test. Its actual amplification factor is measured as a Gm value on the meter. Its the only way to truly match tubes in amplifiers. This tester will handle: 4.5,6,7,8 pin large base tubes; 8 pin octals; 7& 9 pin miniatures; 8 pin micros; 8 pin in line tubes. It measures Gm. Vintage Hickok Mutual Conductance 600A Vacuum Tube Tester, Functional
ITEM DESCRIPTION A vintage 600A tube tester by Hickok. It works well. May need calibration though. I tested the function with a couple different tubes such as 27, 80, 6V6, 6SN7 and all performed as expected. The power cord is flexible and has no cracks. The small grid cap adapter aged and a bit cracked at the base of it. There is an nice built-in scroll for tube settings included and it even still shows those two digit tubes. The handle. Hinges and clasps are tight and in good condition. Exterior cabinet not water damaged or cracked however, it does have marks paint splatters, and tears consistent with its age. Hickok 533 Vacuum Tube Tester W/ Crt Adapter
I do not know how well this tester is calibrated etc. However. It turns on, and the one 12ay7 tube I had to test it with that i knew was good showed as such.Needle moves when button is pushed. The reel with all the tube names and properties Is completely legible and rolls properly. Main and"Short" Fuses appear to work, was unable to figure out how to test the bias fuse, but it isnt obviously blown. The 9 pin socket I tested the 12ay7 appears to be worn, as the tube only lights up when not entirely seated on the socket and feels loose when put in. I am unable to test the other sockets. Cosmetically, In my opinion it appears to be in pretty great shape, but my vintage electronics knowledge base is layman at best. I just compared test resultes between my Amplitrex AT1000 and this tester on a 6SN7GT and the results were within 2% Tester is in good working condition. All the controls are smooth and do what they should. Tube chart will need some work as it is sometimes loose and then it gets tight. As you can see from the pictures. It is quite clean. The front panel looks VERY good. Cabinet does show wear typical of a 50 year old instrument. All tubes are tested using my Calibrated Western Electric KS-15750-L2(Similar to Hickok 539B) or my Amplitrex AT1000 The tubes will be individually wrapped and packed safely for shipping. This Hickok 539c was used by me for the last 10 years for hobby use only. It is in working order and has the more desirable meter. Was used to test vacuum tubes w/in the last 2 weeks. The case is in very good condition. I purchased this beautifull unit about 12 years ago in a Ham Fest here in Florida. I repaired and used it for awhile then it stayed in the attic, with my Hi-Fi& tube collection until I moved out recently. As you can see in the pictures. Hickok Model 600A Micromho Dynamic Mutual Conductance Vacuum Tube Tester
If you are looking for a tester with a nice case. This is not the one. The case is in terrible condition. It is intact enough to safely house the tester, it just doesn't look nice. I don't know if all functions are working. I am capable of; finding a tube number in the scroll. Plug the tube in, make the listed settings, push the listed button, and read the meter, good or replace. Other then setting the line adjust, this is all that I have the knowledge to do. I do not know how accurate it is, as I don't have a tube of a known condition or another tester to compare to. The face of the tester in in pretty good condition. It has definitely had some use. As you can see wear marks around the switches wear fingers have rubbed on it. There is a lens missing over the bias fuse, and the power cord is pretty cracked up and should be replaced ... moreas well as the short test lead. The metal name plate that is supposed to be glued under the lid has come off. The tube sockets seemed to work fine on the two I tried, but all look like they have light corrosion on the contacts. The scroll is complete and works well, it gets a little harder to roll as you approach the ends. There is some writing in pencil on the back of the face. I will wrap up the two tubes underneath to be sure they are not damaged during shipping. BE SURE TO OPEN AND REMOVE THE PACKAGING MATERIAL BEFORE USE! I will include a note making mention of this to be sure it is not forgotten. On a few of the tube sockets some tubes seem to need a little convincing to make a good connection but this shouldn't be a big deal. Original cord has been replaced. Instead of the original 2 prong cord it has been replaced with a 3 prong cord without the 3rd pin. Outer case shows wear but handle and hinges are fine and work as they should. Note that I did press the Line Adjust S10 button and when I varied the line adjust knob the meter registered accordingly.so that is a good sign. Also, neither of the two fuse lights were illuminated, thus another sign it is functional. There is a perfectly in-tact paper roll chart with various tube data on it(no tears/ no damage to paper roll) I tested it by using the scroll knob located to the right of it on the faceplate and successfully scrolled it up and down without issue. As you can see in the pictures the test results of a 6V6GT in my Amplitrex AT-100 testing at 4.480 on the Gm. Then I show it testing in this 752A at 1,120. This is in the X4 range so 1,120 time 4 = 4,480. This tester is dead on. The face has a few mars on it but nothing serious and has really nice print. The case shows it age somewhat but is a very solid case. I have taken all kinds of pictures so you can judge physical condition for yourself. All in all. A very nice tester. Here is a used vintage Hickok Model# 752 tube tester. Manufactured by The Hickok Electrical Instrument Company. Originaly purchased in 1959. Purchase includes an additional used paper tube sheet reel. Has a custom black hinged case with rear storage compartment. Front handle, and 2-latches on front; has metal protective pieces on all corners. Approximate measurements of the case: 18-1/2" x 17" x 7-1/4" some dings, but for the age, pretty good condition. This auction is for a Vintage Hickok Tube Tester T-53. With no reserve. The tester shows some wear and can be seen in the twelve(12) pictures below. The tester is sold as is and I do not know if it works properly or not. When it is plugged in and it is turned on, the light of the meter goes on. When the Line Adjustment knob is moved the light for the meter goes dimmer and brighter. When the line test button is pushed, the meter goes to a little over 1500. When the roller is turned the chart moves from Stop to Stop. I see no light for the chart. The coating for the red wire has some breaks in the coating. Hickok 800K 600A Vacuum Tube Tester Tester seem to work pretty good. The 6V6GT being tested measured 4180 on my Amplitrex and so looks pretty close. I did put a new cord on it. Cleaned the switches with DeOxit. The tubes(83& 5Y3GT) inside it test as new. Interior electronics look good. Roll chart goes from end to end but gets a little tight at the very ends. Easy fix. Some minor stains on the face and a small dent in the lower right hand corner(see picture) I do not have the manual(a 600A manual will work just fine) but available free on line or nice reprints on Ebay. The case is a little rough but solid. There is a plate/grid wire but the wire covering is cracked and should be replaced. As with any tester purchased on Ebay. Hickok TV-3B/U Excellent Condition Rare Vacuum Tube Tester
Here is a very nice TV-3B/U. Which was made by Hickok. This is quite a rare unit. Especially considering the good condition! Based upon the color of the unit, it was likely made for the US Navy or Coast Guard, but there seems to be a lack of information about this unit due to its rarity. This is physically/electrically similar to the TV-10. It will test all the popular audio tubes and many others for shorts. Mutual conductance, life, gas and noise. Some advantages of this tester over the popular TV-7 series of testers are that it reads directly in Micromhos. The meter was replaced with a new Simpson and much appreciated help was received by the TV-7 guru. Dan Nelson, who helped me have it sourced from his personal supplier, Larson MeterCraft, who duplicated the meter face and calibrated it. The tester works flawlessly, even the ohmmeter, ... morevolt meter and capacitor meter functions are working… Amazing! Switches and sockets are tight and the roll chart is smooth, strong 83 and 5Y3 tubes, and it has a new-grounded line cord. I have checked this against my Dan Nelson calibrated TV-7 and this tester’s results compare very favorably. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer TV-3B/U at any price. Thanks for looking. Hello again.this is an early probably 1950's Vacuum tube voltmeter.I know really nothing about the unit.It does power up but that's about all I know.This is a Hickok brand model#110a. the unit is about 10" tall by 13" wide and 6 1/2 deep.It is electrical and probably has internal tubes.needs cleaning.need I am sure a good calibration but as I said does at least power up.Has frontal dial that reads the volts.I have no other wires that should have plugged into the ac probe on the front.A four prong wire. Hickok 600A Vintage Vacuum Tube Tester Hifi Amp Calibration Checked
Hickok 600A w/ manual Transconductance Tube Tester as seen in pictures. Both(internal) tubes test as new on my calibrated Hickok 539C Calibration has been checked. And This is an electrically excellent performer. I replaced the shorts cap, and the meter cap(both are included with your purchase) As you can see. The tube under test is a 6000 gm bogey tube, and it is spot on on this tester Roll chart is very good. Some scuffing on meter plastic. And face. During initial testing I did have the meter stick a little bit. I ran a dryer sheet over the meter face and couldn't get it to stick again after that. So it Seems static related, but i wanted the buyer to be aware of that. it's-10 outside right now and dry as a bone so it wouldn't surprise me) Casing is in fair overall shape. USED Hickok TV-7/U. The*ONLY* reason I am selling it is I have replaced it with an Amplitrex AT1000. This has been my trusty bench tester for over a year. It has never given me any problems. I have tested tube ranging from 2a3/45/80/50/6v6/12ax7's on this tester. Again. I have had ZERO problems with this tester. That being said, it is sold as working but*NOT* calibrated. I have never opened the case, so I do*NOT* know the condition of the insides. Assume it needs to be calibrated. I will also include a copy of the printed manual and calibrations procedures. Super Sounds Perfect Prices. Item Description. Up for auction is a Hickok model 752 dynamic mutual conductance vacuum tube tester. Many of you who are real tube aficionados will instantly recognize the brand-name Hickok. The big Hickok"laboratory" models. The 752 series and the 539 series(along with the military version of same, the TV-7 model) are widely considered the most durable and accurate testers ever sold to the general public. They were also sold to the US Government by the thousands, to be used in critical applications, such as planes, tracking equipment, etc. so you know they had to be built to work, and keep working. There are many stories out there, some apocryphal, I'm sure, about these testers surviving floods, mud-slides, extreme rust, extreme heat, you name it, then being plugged in- only to find out they still ... moreworked. Oh, make no mistake, they do and did break down- but it usually took a lot of use and/or abuse to cause that. This tester has some very nice features. Including a test for(relative) remaining tube-life, the ability to test dual-triodes without changing settings, the ability to set exactly accurate plate-voltage that the tube was designed for, the ability to measure the tube's reading in micromhos, test and measures shorts and leakage in the tubes, and much more. One thing it will not do: it will NOT cook your dinner for you(you need a significant other for that) well, maybe it would cook your dinner ONCE- but then, you'd need a new tester.Seriously, though, this really is considered a professional unit. This unit was sent to the well-known Roger Kennedy of All Tube Testers dot com. Who inspected, cleaned and calibrated it in May of 2014. Mint Calibrated Stark 12-22A Mutual Conductance Vacuum Tube Tester Hickok Tester
This calibrated Stark Model 12-22A Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester is probably the hardest vacuum tube tester to find. It tests both European and American Vacuum Tubes along with Selenium Rectifiers. Transistors and Diodes. Stark was the Canadian subsiduary of Hickok and made electrically identical tube testers. Using the Hickok circuits, but with a somewhat different appearance, and a lot wider range of sockets. The quality is second to none. The bias pots etc. feel very healthy. Function switches look and feel great. Both are somewhat bigger than their hickok counterparts. To allow for the extra sockets. A Stark 12-22A Users Manual. Calibration instructions and a Hickok Consolidated Test Data Manual is Included. Both the Hickok 533A and the Stark 12-22A use the same 2.5 Screen Voltage so they share the same Tube Testing Data. Resisters ... moreand Capacitors were checked and replaced as necessary. The 83 Mercury Filled Rectifier Tube has been replaced with a perfectly balanced solid state replacement. The 5Y3 tested new and balanced. This tube cannot be replaced with a solid state replacement without loosing accuracy. Calibration double checked with 6L6 and 6sx7 Calibrating Tubes. Then Tripled checked matching tubes on a Calibrated Hickok 533A.
