Tube tester precision apparatus audio stereo guitar amp hi-fi model 612
This tube tester is in decent condition for it's age. I tried it with several different tubes and it appears to work correctly. I did not try every socket and would assume the switches could use cleaning. There are five paper rolls beside the one in the machine. there is also an ad from 1958 for the company and a letter dated 1972 checking for an update. The case has some deep scratches and the hinges are missing from the cover. The original foil tag is still on the handle as well. Thanks for looking.

This is a gorgeous tube tester. I used it to test several tubes after a thorough cleaning and polishing. All pots and switches were cleaned with de-oxit gold. The wood cabinet has been refinished using Mohawk satin lacquer. Roll chart moves nicely end to end. Will test all the important tubes including the old four pinners and the newer 12AX7's. You are Bidding on a VINTAGE Tube and Battery Tester Precision Brand Series 612 Defects: No Handle on top. Missing clear plastic over needle gauge, dent noted to right top corner(very edge) Missing one of the 10 white knobs that move up and down Unit was very dusty and white knobs and front of unit were quite dirty. I did wipe off with wet cloth as best i could. Unit has in lower left corner a red light which does come on when plugged in. And needle does move side to side when levers and knobs adjusted. Unit has NOT been tested with an actual battery or tubes. I just know it comes on and needle reacts to knobs and lever adjustment. Precision Apparatus PACO 612 Tube & Battery Tester, Calibrated Fixed Tested NICE
Here is a very nice PACO tube tester. It's the Model 612 tube and battery tester. I haven't done much with PACO gear(though I'm totally dependent on their C-20 capacitor tester) But based on the shiny chrome faceplate this looks to be a later production run of the venerable 612 emission tester. This is a nice tester. It beats my trusty old EICO 625, that's for sure. I toyed with the idea of swapping out the 625 for the 612 for my quick bench tester. still might happen. We'll see how the sale goes. This tester has the following sockets: Octal Loctal 7& 9 Pin Miniature 4. 5, 6& 7 Pin Large Base Acorn Subminiature(8-pin pencil tube) 7 pin in-line Subminiature It will test most. If not all, rock and roll tubes and antique radio tubes including 12AX7, 12AU7, 12AT7, 6BQ5(EL84) 6CA7(EL34) KT-66, KT-88, 6550, 5881, 6146, ... more7025 etc. I tested a tube in every socket. I have a standard weak 6CA7(EL34) that I use to judge testers. This tester got it right. Checked leaky and good capacitor. The 612 had no trouble identifying which one was which. The battery test also worked. I am confident this tube. Condenser and battery tester is fully functional. The meter is very nice. The movement is very smooth and repeatable. Overall. This unit very nice as you can see from the pictures. The case has some scrapes and marks but is very solid. All feet are there. They're not a exact match but close. Up for sale here is a vintage Precision Model 612 tube and battery tester. The buy it now price on this is only $50. Look at what these sell for, this is a great bargain. This is in as found condition I have done no work on it and I am not really qualified to. My advice to any potential bidders on this item or ... moreany vintage electronic item like this is have a qualified professional replace out of spec caps and resistors before you put this into regular service. These are very simple devices that will last a long time if properly maintained. I did replace the faceplate screws because some of the originals were missing and others were chewed up so I replaced them and the replacements look great. I powered this up and tested a 12ax7. 5U4 and 6SN7 that had already been tested on my professionally calibrated tube testers and found this tester to generally be in agreement with my testers. In order for this tester to be put into regular service it needs the sockets cleaned as well as the contacts on the switches& the potentiometers could use some Deoxit. The roll chart works fine and doesn't slip or bind but the plastic cover is yellowed and it can be tough to see the setup info. There is no manual but there is a supplemental chart included. There is a split in one side of the wooden case but overall the case is solid. This is a nice little tester for either parts or restoration.

I just tested several tubes and they test comparable to my Hickok TV7 tester, I mostly use a Precision 915 upright tester which remains on my bench. I like Precision testers and they have don't quite well by me, There are lots of spare parts. Paperwork, Rolls and Vibrator tester as well. Cabinet is good and there is one spot where veneer is loose at the edge. It can be glued easy, I can repair if you would like, You would never know, It tests tons of tubes for shorts and quality.
