800x600 This is a model 539C transconductance tube tester made by Hickok. It is in very good to excellent condition. I tested some tubes on this and it appears to work fine. Notice the EL34. 6L6G, and 12AX7, tube under a test. Includes grid/ plate clip lead, and original manual with tube setting data. Serial number is 29200870. The case is in good condition with a few scuffmarks. Front panel looks very good and has only a few scratches. I cannot guarantee this unit is calibrated, and will probably need some calibration, due to age. All meters and switches work. Tester was always in shop with the same atmosphere as the living quarters of a home. Switches have that low hours feel. Meter is working fine. Tube measurement results correlate closely with a known accurate TV-7. Faceplate has no wear at the usual spots. Chart is working with correct tension. Faceplate screws are all original. Cabinet shows some wear and what appears to be paint spots. Cabinet has no serious stains. Inside of tester has that sweet smell and not the damp musty smell of a tester stored in damp atmosphere. I am selling this for a colleague of mine who is helping to liquidate his father in law's estate. He used to purchase government auctions of electronic and other test equipment and was an electronics trainer and engineer himself. This has been in storage and unused for quite a while. I wish I could report that this thing is working 100% but I can't. The power light comes on and the line voltage meter registers. The bias voltage can be adjusted as well as the line voltage but I cannot get it to test a tube. The tubes under test do not light up and they have tested good on the BK tester that I can operate and do have some limited experience with. It could be operators error but I believe I am getting the settings right. I am selling it as is. The 3 sockets and manuals pictured are also included. This is one of the best and most versatile tube testers ever made. This 13” x 10” x 6” tester has 12 sockets and covers a very wide range of tubes from the earliest 4 pin tubes right through sweep tubes and compactrons. Very few testers do this whole range.
