I have used this tester and it seems to work fine although seeing as it is roughly 50 years old it could probably use some maintenance. I tested a few 12ax7 and 12au7 tubes as well as 6v6 tubes with good results. I have recently aquired another tester made by B&K that is more suited for my uses and do not need this one. Here is a Jackson Dynamic tube tester model#715 up for a NO RESERVE AUCTION. This Jackson vaccuum tube tester has been dependable and pretty accurate. I have tested a lot of different electron tubes on it. I have not used all the different docks/ ports on the unit but most. All the buttons. Switches& knobs work exactly as they should. This is a nice clean unit and it comes with a photo copy MANUAL and 30+ pages of EXTRA TUBE DATA WITH INSTRUCTIONS on how to test them for the Jackson 715. The copies are what was sent to the owners of these testers for upgrade tube information. The onboard reel offers 100's of different tubes as well. There is even a pic of the inside of the unit. Something was rolling around inside so I took it apart to see what it was and it was just a nut that came loose that holds the tube data sheet in place. Jackson 658-1 Dynamic Output Tube Tester This unit has been electrically brought back to specs. New 1% resistors. 5 watt power resistors, 450V capacitors. All factory solder joints have been checked/repaired. ALL diodes have been replaced. Please check your tubes for shorts. This can be a touchy unit. It's true what you read online you may get into the habit of tapping the meter to get the needle to set. If you know of a solution I would be happy to incorporate that into the rebuild before shipping. This unit has been calibrated using a Fluke 87 for currents and voltages. This tester is in one of the best shapes I have seen. These are rare and hard to come by. Please see the pictures for the fine details. I use a Nikon D40 with a 90MM zoom so you can see the detail. JACKSON TYPE 648A TUBE TESTER For your consideration. We are offering a vintage vacuum tube tester. Partially tested to be in working condition. I powered it up. It adjusts properly to my line voltage. I tested an old 6E5, seems fine, nice bright display and 110% reading. Then I tried a 76 triode and it came up 90% Then I tried a 12AU7 and it came up 5% but it tested great on my EICO 628. So I figure it needs restoration. All the buttons seem to be working good, some were sticking at fist, but got better as I kept working them. So it has good transformers. Good meter and good controls. Schematic on the bottom, inside. Clean chassis internals. Heck, the handle isn't even broken. OK, the case cover is rough. That's easy. Overall, restoration should be pretty inexpensive. Full service/restoration/calibration is recommended. Bonus! Comes ... morewith a Walsco No. 1960 Nuvistor adapter! This is a great tester. Easy to work on. I just acquired a TV7. Description: This is a very nice vintage tube tester from Jackson. Serial number 439101. It includes all the original literature that came with the machine. To my eye it appears to never have been used. There is no scratching or normal signs of wear and tear. In fact, the only defects seem to be related to its many years of storage. Jackson Model #648A Dynamic Vacuum Tube Tester Serial #M18578 Tube Tester
This is 1940's- 1950's Jackson Model 648A dynamic plate conductance tube tester. This tube tester was made by The Jackson Electrical Instrument Co. of Dayton. Ohio. This is a portable instrument housed in a wooden box covered with a now-tattered covering. The box measures 16.5 inches wide, 13.5 inches deep and 6 inches high with the top closed. It is powered by regular household current with voltage ranging from 100 to 125 volts. The tester can test most 4, 5, 6, 7, octal 8, loctal 8, Noval, 9, miniature 7, and sub-miniature 7 and 8 pin tubes of the 1930's era and later. A roller tube chart list of tubes it can test is built in to the lower portion of the front panel. Powers up and lights work, no other testing done. As-Is but guaranteed not to be DOA.

Jackson 658 Dynamic Mutual Conductance tube tester
I have several tube testers on auction today. This one is a Jackson 658 Dynamic Mutual Conductance tester. I have gone through this tester and replaced all old school rectifiers with new silicone rectifiers, I have also replaced all out of tolerance Capacitors and resistors as well as the AC cord. I have cleaned and tightened all sockets and switches and calibrated it so it is ready to go. The only thing wrong with it is that about 1/2" of the tip of the meter needle has been broken off& is missing.THIS HOWEVER has NO EFFECT on the FUNCTIONALITY of the METER. THIS UNIT HAS THE VERY RARE"POWER SCROLL CHART"push the button and it automatically goes forward or back! The unit itself is in excellent condition. The case is also in good sound condition although the tolex covering is quite shabby though there are no MAJOR chunks ... moremissing. Guaranteed to perform as described. You are bidding on a vintage Jackson 648 tube tester. It's in very good condition for its age. It comes with a ton of documentation and extras and the vacuum tubes Inc manual and calibration tube which is the best! Also has a bunch of extra associated documentation and service bulletins. I did power it up to check the calibration and it's reading a little high. Tube is calibrated at 85 and it reads 90. This unit is one of the easier to calibrate as pots are used for the calibration I also recall that when I put it away. The meter was occasionally a bit temperamental, and needed a tap before it would register. This unit has the upgraded shorts test. As well as the filament voltage upgrade kit installed. The tester does test a number known weak tube bad and good ones good. But you'll probably want to have this serviced/service it ... moreyourself so the calibration is right on. This is a Jackson mod. 648R dynamic tube tester made in late 50's or early 60's. It's in great shape cosmetically with basically just surface rust on the case hinges and a little dirt. It hasn't been tested but when plugged in. The meter needle goes to the middle, all the knobs rotate smoothly, the tube specs chart rolls nicely etc. This is the later 648R mod, which along the s mod. seem to be the most favored. These Jackson testers are recognized as one of the top brands. This will be sold"as is" as I have no means to test it. Has an instruction sheet fastened to the inside of the lid.

Jackson Dynamic Plate Conductance Tube Tester. Model# 648. Works great and is very clean. Comes with factory operating instructions, and a copy of special tube test set up data manual. Also has a built in roll chart for tube test set up. Test sockets for 4, 5, 6, 7, pin early type tubes, 8 pin octal and loctal, and 7, 9 miniature and acorn tubes. Circuit tube has been tested, and capacitor replaced. All sockets and controls have been cleaned. This is a very high end tester. Great for testing amplifier, audio, hi/fi, stereo, radio and tv tubes. Shows a little age but is in overall very very good condition. Very useful tester with a lot of great features!
