Conar 223 Tube Tester Tested Working
Conar 223 Tube Tester. Several tubes have been tested and this appears to be in good working condition, shown testing a type 41 tube, a 12AU7 and a 5U4 all known good tubes. Includes the Assembly and User manual, the 221-223-C Supplementary chart, a Coletronics 5-2-67 New Tube Releases chart and several other papers that most likely came with it when it was new. This is a very versatile tester that test tubes from the old 4& 5 pin types to the newer Compactron and Decal types. The first socket accommodates the early 4, 5& 6 pin types, the second socket is a small 7 pin for 6B7 type tubes but will not accommodate the large 7 pin types like 53 or 59, while these types are listed in the tube chart one would need to make an adapter to test these tubes or replace the socket, the tester also has the more common mini 7& 9 pin sockets ... moreas well as the Octal, Magnavol and Loctal sockets, the roll chart is good and easily turns. The case is solid but shows its age, the tolex has some rips and tears and it looks like some paint has run down one side as seen in the last photo, the handle is good, the inside panel looks good and all switches and controls do work but but there are tiny dark speckles on the panel and meter possibly from paint over-spray, these may or may not clean up, due to its age this is sold as-is. This unit powers up perfectly and everything looks to be in working order. However. Since we do not have the equipment to calibrate the unit or fully test it, in accordance with eBay policy it will sold for parts or repair. As it is untested. The tester in in excellent working condition. It's beautiful, I don't know that a guy could ask for much more. It comes with the original build books, and even the supplementary tube charts. The inside shows very little signs of use, the outside has just a few scuffs. Only other thing worth mentioning, 2 of the rubber stick on feet have come off the case. The tester hasn't been used since the early 80's. I can't say it enough, excellent condition. Thanks for looking! Switches and controls are free and don't bind or stick, panel has no dents or scratches, chart is very good and has no tears from end to end. Meter plastic has no scratches or cracks. Conar model 223 vacuum tube tester. Included are the assembling and using manual and a sumplementary tube setting chart in addition to the built in scroll. I tested this unit with a good and bad 12AX7 and 6L6 tube. The good 12AX7 tested good and the shorted 12AX7 tested shorted. The good 6L6 tested weaker than it should have so I tried another one with the same results. They both tested just in the green but test strong on my Hickok 539C. Not sure what is going on there and I don't know if it could be adjusted. The shorted 6L6 tested shorted. I also tried a 6Y6 and it tested weaker than it should also. So what you see is what you get.
