800x600 This is a model 539C transconductance tube tester made by Hickok. It is in very good to excellent condition. I tested some tubes on this and it appears to work fine. Notice the EL34. 6L6G, and 12AX7, tube under a test. Includes grid/ plate clip lead, and original manual with tube setting data. Serial number is 29200870. The case is in good condition with a few scuffmarks. Front panel looks very good and has only a few scratches. I cannot guarantee this unit is calibrated, and will probably need some calibration, due to age. All meters and switches work. Produced in the 1960's I believe. When fully working, this model is capable of testing for dynamic mutual conductance, emissions, shorts, life test, and grid leakage. Good physical condition. With some signs of rust on metal/chrome band that goes around the case. Handle/latches work fine. Unit weighs about 22lbs by itself. Opened up the unit to take a picture of internals for potential buyers. Saw one resistor(upper left in photo) that appeared to have some signs of overheating. Here is a Sencore TC162 vacuum tube tester that is in really good shape. It is part of my collection of many tube testers and is fully functional. It is shown in one picture testing a 6V6 tube. It has a safety power cord and the inside panel is great looking. I do not know of its last calibration. However, comparing it to values obtained on a tube by my calibrated machines, it's spot on. Sencore MU-150 Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Fully Functional
Due to having 2 of these testers. I have decided to sell one of them. This is a Sencore MU-150 mutual conductance tube tester that was electrically restored and calibrated in March, 2003. I would very safely say that I have tested about 25 tubes on it since then. It works great. I ran a test this morning on a 12AU7, seen in the photos, and it performed fine. There is normal wear on the unit, to be expected. There is a date inside the unit on the meter back of 1968. The 2 tubes it uses were both tested on the other like it and tested good for emissions, shorts, and mutual conductance. This is a great tester for folks that like to"tube roll" their amplifiers. The original operating instructions and tube chart were a bit worn out.but i was able to find a copy online and have included a printed copy. The GE Tube Checker. TC-3A, is an emission type tube checker. Tubes are tested for quality by a test wherein the grid is placed at cathode potential while the screen is placed at a lower potential then the plate. There are some imperfections in the paint of the main tester panel. Which I believe are from the factory. If you are really picky you will see some fine rub marks on the main tester panel, probably from the cardboard it was packed in. I checked several tubes of different types and the parameters came up very close to mine. It has two books with it in addition to the tube checking chart. One book shows how it works and how to use it and the other is an owner's that includes a schematic. I always tell people who buy these things to clean the control and the switches. I purchased this WE KS-15750-L2 Tube Tester early this year to finalize the design and testing of the new DIGITAL MAIN METERS as shown in one of the pictures. It was upgraded with enhancements and now that the project is finished its surplus. The Digital Main Meters are being offered for sale by our group VHSystems on eBay. CONDITION: The metal case is in really good condition with a few markings from normal use. Faceplate knobs and meters are in very good condition. The electronics are nice. The roll chart works well and has the Western Electric types listed. The original handle has been replaced with a new heavy duty equipment handle. Pictures show all parts of the unit including the enhancements. The Digital Multimeter and the Digital Main Meter shown in the pictures are not included. If desired this unit can have a Digital Main Meter ... moreinstalled here before shipment by purchasing one listed by VHSystems here on eBay. Enhancements. Calibration and tests performed: Rectifiers 83 and 5Y3GT were replaced with solid state devices. This conversion plugs into the tube sockets and can be removed. A combination of zener diodes and rectifiers to match the tubes being removed. It also provides a load to the power transformer filament windings for power stability from load to no load variations. Plate Current pin jacks were added for testing plate current with a Digital Multimeter. Bias Selenium Rectifier was replaced with Silicon Rectifiers. Bias. Main Meter and VR Voltage Electrolytic Capacitors replaced. The large self bias can capacitor removed& replaced with modern small ones. A terminal strip was installed where the self bias capacitor was removed. Grounded line cord installed that attaches to the terminal strip. Main Meter was tested for Full Scale with120 uA and 180 mV. All three meters meet specifications. Return to zero and do not stick. Calibration was verified using Hickok’s procedures in the supplied manual. Vintage Eico Vacuum Tube Tester Model 625 Electronic Test equipment
This tester seems to work ok. Occasionally I would have to flip or rotate the switches a couple of times to get it to work. The more I used it. The better it seemed to work. I'm not for sure but it would seem that maybe some of the contacts need cleaned, maybe blown out? Also the needle seems to jump or jitter around while testing, I don't know if this is normal. The face plate is in pretty good condition with some minor dings and scuffs. The outer housing is missing a lot of the finish and has some minor surface rust. I'm not sure if the two light bulbs on the lower corners are working. They had never came on when I tested a few tubes. It looks like the power cord may have been replaced. The information/data scroll has one small spot that had been tore and taped back together(see picture) My knowledge of things of this nature ... moreare minimal. Hickok 546 Tube Tester for Parts Only, Accessories and Original Manual Included
What once was a very nice tube tester. My inspection includes the following: I could not adjust the line voltage as the gauge did not respond at all to the adjustment. However the gauge did move when the switch was placed in resistance mode, so the gauge may still work. The 9 pin socket has been replaced by some strange blue socket- it is not original. The push buttons may or may not work the Gm button and the rectifier buttons stick. The transformer looks like it has been replaced with one that was larger than the original. The roll chart does work smoothly. All buttons and knobs appear to be original. Power chord has been replaced. This tester is sold as is for parts or not working. The panel and knobs are in very good shape. Both vacuum tubes tested strong. The accessories are in like new condition, not sure if they were ever used.
