I purchased this Tube Checker from a retired TV repairman/neighbor about 10 years ago and used it to check my guitar amplifier tubes whenever I was having issues or trying to match tubes for the best sound. It worked fine for me but I have not used it in the last 5 years. So I cannot promise you that it works as it did previously. Having said that, I am not aware of any reason why it wouldn't work. U.S. Army Signal Corps Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester Here is a great vintage tube tester for checking out those old tubes. Made for the U.S. Army Signal Corp by the Daven Corp. Model I-177-B made in the 1950's. Serial Number 1511. I don't know a thing about this tester. My brother was a big collector of military items and this was in his collection. It looks to be in good condition. Not all beaten up. Can't say if it works or not. It has the original w prong power wire plug still intact. The Department of the Army Technical Bulletin TB 11-2627-2 is still in place and in good condition. The case.It is in, looks to be factory painted"Navy Gray" over"Army Olive Drab" that can be seen through a few scratchs on the case. It is that color inside and out. 100% sure done as a factory color change as it's ... moreso well done. So probably was used in the Navy vs in an Army field position, if used at all. There is a data/ serial# plackard on the front of the case by the handle. Hard to read as it' has a light coat of gray paint over it. Since I don't know how to use it or have a tube to test. I bought this at an estate sale several years ago just as you see it. With no lid. This Is a Working Unit with no apparent issues. I had to replace the wire wound resistor due to a bad spot on the winding(I will send it and the three clamps with the unit) I looked all over but never was able to find an original one as shown in the picture. I replaced it with a shorter but larger in diameter resister of close to the same specifications as the original. It's been some time, but I believe I was able to achieve the voltages required for proper calibration from the three taps on the replacement ... moreresistor. As you can see the cord needs replacing. As I said this is a working unit and just before putting it on eBay I tested a tube known to be good,it fell exactly within the parameters it was supposed to. 1955 Allied Knight-Kit Tube Tester-83YX142/3 This is a nice Vintage tube tester from 1955. It is by Allied Radio of Chicago. It has the how to build and trouble shoot manual included. It also instructs how to test tubes. I use to restore and repair old radios and I used it quite a bit years ago. I wanted to make sure it still worked. So I found an old radio stored downstairs and pulled a few tubes out of it to test this evening and a really old tube from a TRF radio I have sitting in my family room. The results are as follows. Which tells me the Tube Tester still works, which is a good thing! 6SK7- Tested good and no shorts or gas problems. 6F6- Had a short from the get go. 80(very old tube) Tested weak but good. Vintage B&K Dyna Jet Model 606 Vacuum Tube Tester! Powers right up!
Outside is in pretty decent condition. With one small stain, a very small tear, and a little rust on the latch. Inside is beautiful and spotless. The screws have a little bit of rust. But are just normal screws you could replace, or leave as-is, because they wouldn't affect anything. Unit turns right on. But past that I have no way of testing it. Vintage Simpson Electric Model 555 Tube Tester Parts Repair Display ? Chicago
Attic find. I'm sure that in the day this was state of the art but by today's standards it's a dinosaur. And I'm sure that when it was stashed away so many years ago"dad" was sure he'd need it again. It absolutly needs a new power cord before it could even be tested safely but, after noticing some screws missing on the cover I had to open it up to make sure it wasn't gutted. As you can see in the pictures aside from a coating of dust the interior looks surprisingly good with no evidence that anything but age has deteriorated the cord on the outside of the cover, even the paper roll looks quite good. This is a large heavy object so shipping will be quoted as parcel post. I have up for auction, tested by a friend whose business is restoring antique tube radios. He had to replace a tube and the dial for the paper roll. He said it functions great now but the paper roll still jams slightly sometimes. He went through it completely and tested each type of tube in it. The unit shows some wear from years of storage. The face plate has some discoloration. The black case is worn and the hardware rusted. It comes with a Test Data booklet. It says its for 533A but I am sure it's good for this model too. VINTAGE 1947 PRECISION TUBE MASTER TESTER SERIES 10 12 W BOOKS & IN GREAT COND!!
Here is a vintage Precision Tube Master Series 10-12 Tube and Battery Tester that's in very nice and also in as very clean condition. Its marked and was made by Precision Apparatus Company in Elmhurst New York and research told me the Series 10-12 was introduced in 1947 and that it was the foundation model for the Precision Series 10-15, 10-20, 10-22 and 10-54 models, research also told me that when these are found there wood cases are usually heavily damaged with scratches, stains and chipped from field use but notice in the photos this wood case didn't even know what field use was looking like new. I think the reason this is in such nice condition is that it was not used much at all, it came out of a very clean and well to do home and it was found neatly wrapped in a blanket inside a trunk. This has been plugged in with lights working ... moreas well as its meter working plus notice its also with many booklets. This is heavy and a large unit measuring with lid closed 17 1/4 inches long by 14 inches wide by 7 inches deep and it doesn't show in the photos but it also has four feet on its back side like showing on its bottom in the photos. This auction includes a Jackson model 658-1 vacuum tube tester in good working condition and with it's original owner's manual and supplemental tube data booklet. As the photos show. This unit is quite clean for it's age and all of the controls and push-buttons operate smoothly. All of the sockets are clean and are not cracked anywhere. The power cord is still in great shape without being brittle and the scroll tube data chart is still easy to read. The photos show this tester testing a 6L6 output tube(tube not included in auction) and, in addition, I took another photo showing that the AC line level is able to be set properly. There is a small crack in the meter cover however, it does not affect the functionality or readability of the meter. I was not able to get the small crack to show up in my photos. It was surplus from a company that set up their own repair department for the service of their fleet of tube type UHF and VHF radios in the 1960s. Soon after they did this they converted to the more modern transistor type of radios. As such this item has had almost no use. They just recently had an auction to reduce some of their surplus tools and stock. I have used it to check some tubes and it appears to work properly and has similar readings to a B&K tube tester. The"TEST-O-MATIC" tube tester was sold by Shell Electronic MFG. Corp in 1959. It works great and includes several tubes(tested and untested) a tube test chart. On the underside of the lid and a GE tube manual for refference purposes. It appears that the model number is either a L-18 or P-18. Looks like the number was modified to a later version.see pics) This tube tester is a suit case style and is self contained. The case shows lots of wear but is intact. Found at a recent estate sale of a guy that repaired clocks. This auction is for a VINTAGE HEATHKIT TC-2 TUBE CHECKER w/ CASE& Book. Since I know nothing about testing equipment. I don't know how to fully test this. We do anything household normally. I don't even have a old tube to test it with. RARE VINTAGE EICO TV RADIO HAM VACUUM TUBE TESTER MODEL 625 WORKS
This is my father's beloved Eico Model 625 Eico Tube Tester. Has the 4, 5, 6, and 7-pin sockets, the Octal/Loctal, 7-Pin and 9-Pin Miniature sockets. It has Shunt, Line Adjustment, Filament, Selector, with a few other swithes. The center scroll moves freely and guessing it is original as it is somewhat discolored. The light behind the scroll lights up. I was too afraid to plug in a tube, afraid I would blow up something either on the machine or the tube itself. It does not have the original instruction manual. The front is a vibrant blue with grey edges and the case is military green. History: My father was in the US Air Force and was a radio operator. He retired and they hired him as a civilian associate. For as long as I can remember. My father collected radios and restored them. He worked on Radios, TVs and HAM radios for anyone who ... moreasked him. It was his hobby and he enjoyed it up until a few years ago when he became ill. We are now auctioning the radios, testers and components to assist offsetting the loss of his income for my mother.
