I have not personally used this tester myself but was told by the previous owner that he had used it approximately 3-years ago and that it was working at that time. After purchasing it. I brought it home, plugged it in, and was able to adjust the line voltage properly. I have not done any additional testing beyond this and therefore, I am selling this item in as-is, untested, used condition. As the photos show, this unit is quite clean for it's age both inside and out and all of the knobs, switches, and push-buttons are original and in great shape. All of the sockets are clean and are not cracked anywhere. The indicator needles in the three meters are not stuck and the power cord is still in great shape without being brittle. I purchased this tester without a case cover(as shown) which is how I am selling it. The tube data scroll wheel does work, and all of the data is readable however, it does stick once in a while. Western Electric KS-15560-L1 Tube Tester Hickok 539 Slightly Used
This is a Western Electric model KS-15560-L1 tube tester. This is made by Hickok for Western Electric. It is similar to the Hickok model 539. This has been in storage for many years. It is in like new condition with very little use. I have tried testing some tubes on this and it seems to be in good operating condition. The handle has a chip by the hinge and that hinge is loose on the case. One of the cover latches will not latch. There is some very small dings and scratches on cover. The roll chart will not roll to upper and lower ends. This can be easily fixed be removing it and re-rolling it. This is the nicest one of these tube testers that I have ever seen. Most show signs of use. I do not have the manual or any paperwork for this.

Up for auction is a Western Electric Hickok KS-15750-L2 Tube Tester. This tester is from a collection I'll be auctioning over the next few months. It has been stored indoors in a smoke free and climate controlled home. Included is a copy of the operator's manual and an extensive tube data supplement. The KS-15750-L2 was manufactured by Hickok for Western Electric and is of the highest quality. Despite being built for industrial research and development service this example has escaped with only a few dings and scratches suggesting limited use. Upon opening the lid a stunning faceplate and knobs are revealed once again confirming limited service. The only detraction is a missing right hand lid stop arm and stud. This part is made of bent steel rod and can be easliy fabricated. The KS-15750-L2 is a truly beautiful tube tester. Very Early Western Electric Tube Tester KS-13588-L1 Hickok Working
Whether you collect vintage Western Electric Tube Audio Amplifiers or if you collect vintage tube testers. This is one that you don't see every day. This is likely the earliest Western Electric tube tester you will find. It isn't even branded with the Western Electric name, yet, but is has the KS(Kearney Specification) number on it that Western Electric assigned to all of its gear. It also includes a blueprint for the octal to 9 pin miniature adapter that is included and the blueprint is from the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania(Western Electric was the purchasing agent for all Bell Telephone companies) This is made by Hickok as their model 531 tester and includes the Hickok setup book and a roll chart installed in the tester. The tester is in good to very good cosmetic condition. I have checked the two tubes, installed a new ... morefuse lamp, and tested the tester and it seems to be in great operating condition. I purchased this WE KS-15750-L2 Tube Tester early this year to finalize the design and testing of the new DIGITAL MAIN METERS as shown in one of the pictures. It was upgraded with enhancements and now that the project is finished its surplus. The Digital Main Meters are being offered for sale by our group VHSystems on eBay. CONDITION: The metal case is in really good condition with a few markings from normal use. Faceplate knobs and meters are in very good condition. The electronics are nice. The roll chart works well and has the Western Electric types listed. The original handle has been replaced with a new heavy duty equipment handle. Pictures show all parts of the unit including the enhancements. The Digital Multimeter and the Digital Main Meter shown in the pictures are not included. If desired this unit can have a Digital Main Meter ... moreinstalled here before shipment by purchasing one listed by VHSystems here on eBay. Enhancements. Calibration and tests performed: Rectifiers 83 and 5Y3GT were replaced with solid state devices. This conversion plugs into the tube sockets and can be removed. A combination of zener diodes and rectifiers to match the tubes being removed. It also provides a load to the power transformer filament windings for power stability from load to no load variations. Plate Current pin jacks were added for testing plate current with a Digital Multimeter. Bias Selenium Rectifier was replaced with Silicon Rectifiers. Bias. Main Meter and VR Voltage Electrolytic Capacitors replaced. The large self bias can capacitor removed& replaced with modern small ones. A terminal strip was installed where the self bias capacitor was removed. Grounded line cord installed that attaches to the terminal strip. Main Meter was tested for Full Scale with120 uA and 180 mV. All three meters meet specifications. Return to zero and do not stick. Calibration was verified using Hickok’s procedures in the supplied manual. Up for bid is a Hickok built KS-15750-L1 tube tester. This machine is similar to the Hickok 539-c and was built for the Western Electric Company by Hickok and includes testing data for Western Electric tubes such as the 300B etc. both on the roll chart and in the supplementary tube data manual. Included in this sale are the following: The tester. A grid cap lead, a larger plate cap connector so you can build a lead that will allow you to check tubes such as an 811A without holding the grid cap lead to the plate cap(see picture) a copy of the operations manual and a copy of the Obsolete Supplementary Test Data Manual, and the Daven 4416B Self Bias Decade Resistor. In my opinion, the condition of this unit is very good both cosmetically and functionally. The cabinet is clean inside and out as is the tester itself. The face of the tester has ... moresome light scratching and the repainted cabinet has some scratches also(see pictures) All meters, switches and pots work well-roll chart does too. The only fault I could find with any of this is that the far left filament switch is a little stiff in a couple of positions, but I think that this is more from lack of use than anything. I deoxed it and lubed it and that helped. I tested tubes in what I think to be the most used sockets and had no problems with connectivity(specifically the octal, 4, 6, 7, 9, pin sockets) Taken all together, with the way the switches and pots work and given the tightness of the tube sockets plus no distinguishable wear around the thumbwheel for the chart roller I don't believe that this tester has had a great deal of use. Great tester but probably needs calibration. Comes as shown with book. All meters work fine and from what I can tell so do switches and controls. Sockets are tight. I don't think this has seen much use. I have had this for some time and just have not got to it. I was going to calibrate or have someone to calibrate the machine. Appears to be in great shape. This listing is for a Western Electric KS-15750-L1 Hickock 539 Dynamic Mutual Conductance Tube Tester. I got this with a store I just recently purchased. Look for some REALLY interesting items in the coming months! While this tester is nice enough to reside in a museum. It deserves to be used analyzing tubes as its capabilities are significantly better than those of your garden variety tube tester! As the label says. It was made by Hickock specifically for Western Electric. It was used in a laboratory at the Bell System. It was not trotted about very much, as the case is in very good condition. Electrically it is the same as my old 539 but has a separate meter for Grid Bias and a separate meter for the AC Line adjust. In addition. It dispenses with the"English" pot, the"Good/Bad" Emission Test rating, and depends upon ... morethe user to understand the meaning of the Gm reading. Gm ranges are from 3.000 full scale to 60,000 full scale, with selection of high and low signal tube types. Filament voltage is selectable from 1.1 volts to 117 volts. Grid bias is fully adjustable in two ranges. 0 to 6 and 0 to 60 volts. There is also an option for testing in self-bias mode. This tester also allows you to plug in a headphone to the"Noise Test" pin jacks and listen to the tube. Either in static operation for random noise or in a test wherein you tap the tube and listen for microphonics(a very important test) Unlike most Hickock testers. With this model allows you to lock the P4 test position by pressing"P4 Lock" This allows you to watch tube operation over time without needing to hold the P4 button. I then tested them on my Western Electric/Hickok KS-15750. They tested very close. It's very clean, socket pins are nice and tight so they grip the tube pins tightly. The unit is in very good shape both mechanically and electrically and even the rubber feet on the bottom of the case show no or very little wear. It definitely was a shop unit not used in a service truck and doesn't seem to have been used that much. It is used but I've never seen one in such like new shape. Up for auction is a model number KS-15750-L2 tube tester made for Western Electric by Hickok. It is being sold as-is and untested(untestable due to the frozen switch) It is missing the rectifier tubes. The roll chart and many of the front panel screws. The short/tube test switch is frozen solid. All other switches and pots move freely. The filament switch is a little gummy feeling. It feels like the shaft needs lubricating. The case paint is scratched, stained and oxidized and the front panel needs cleaning. Note: Those things that look like drops of rain on the front panel are drops of rain on the front panel. Just started to rain when I took the pictures, it is pouring now! The sun was out when I took the rest of the pictures so nothing got wet underneath. This is a vintage tube tester made by Hickok for Western Electric. Condition is pretty good for its age. Front panel and lettering is very good. Nice large meter for easy reading. It is in working condition. But have used it mainly for testing power tubes so I cannot guarantee all types test accurately without a complete evaluation by a technician. I'm selling this as is. It works and the needle moves freely but it should be checked and calibrated. Overall it's in really great condition the glass is clean and clear. The black casing is a few minor surface scratches on it but looks nice and shiny. The face of the meter is very clean but a few of the numbers are worn a way a bit, see the photos. This is group of cards for the Hickok 123 and Western Electric cardmatic tube testers. It has the"no test" card and then all card from number 2 to number 53. This includes all the troubleshoot and detailed calibration cards to really dial in the tester.

Hickok RD Instruments 1575 Tube Tester - Western Electric KS-15750 / Hickok 539B
You are looking at an RD Instruments 1575 Tube Tester. This tester is similar to the Hickok 539B or the Western Electric KS-15750. Overall. It is in good used condition. However, it does not have a top lid. All meters are Hickok. All knobs, buttons, switches are working. The top face panel has some stains, marks, etc. All of this can be seen in the photos. I tested it using a 6L6 tube(photos 23 and 24) and it seems to be working accurately. It has a couple of service labels on it, and apparently the last service was in 1982. I had to open it up and rip the certification label(located in the top left corner- photo 12) in order to take photos inside. Inside, it is clean and there is no oxidation. A Good testing Hytron 5Y3GT rectifier tube installed. Tube sockets cleaned and tightened. Tube deck has been polished and waxed! Neon shorts test works properly. Has socket for compactrons already installed! Switches, levers, fuse cover, neon lamp cover, sockets, meter cover are in excellent condition! Meter is in impeccable condition and works smoothly. Meter resistance is exactly 160 ohms(spec) Handle has black tape wrapped around the middle section. The clear plastic over the tube chart is warped which is common in these units.
