Mercury Electronics Corp. Mineola, NY 1960 CRT Tester-Reactivator Model 800 The wooden carrying case is a little worn. Metal parts on it is rusty. The inside appears clean and in good shape. It comes with several parts that plug into one another. One is called a color gun with red, green and blue and you turn the dial to the desired color. Guessing that is for the color tubes? There is another gadget that plugs into that and the side of the bakelite is broken but wires are intact. It appears to reduce down to a smaller tube size, guessing that is B&W? I plugged this in and it lit up and that is all I know how to do with it. It does come with a manual that says"The most complete picture tube tester available for TV service technicians. There are no extras to buy! This tester can test B&W and color tubes. My father collected radios and restored them. He worked on Radios, TVs and HAM radios for anyone who asked him. It was his hobby and he enjoyed it up until a few years ago when he became ill. We are now auctioning the radios, testers and components to assist offsetting the loss of his income for my mother. It is being sold"As-Is" as I have no idea how to test it. Well I could read the manual but it doesnt explain how to tell a radio tube from a TV tube. There are thousands of radio or TV parts around here but I dont know what is what. As pictured. Up for auction is this Vintage Mercury Model 1100 Portable Tube Tester. Used for Diagnostic testing of vacuum tubes from old Radios. TV's, Amp's. Came out of the estate of an old electrician who also moonlighted as a TV repair guy. First and foremeost, I know virtually nothing about vacuum tubes from vintage devices, let alone testing them. There is no manual included with tester. I only had one old radio in the house. So I removed the tube, plugged it into a tube port that fit the pin profile. turned the unit on, and flipped a couple dials til I got it to light. So, there is functionality. very possibly fully functional, but there's no way for me to demonstrate that, or warrant it. I attached a YouTube Video so you can see the unit in action. This is a Mercury Tube Tester with Sylvania advertising. Guessing late 1950's or 1960's. Could not find any dates nor could I find any info on this particular model, you collector's and electronic's wizards will know what this is. The Serial Number is 3270042. It powers up. Red light on panel comes on as well as others, top advertising sign lights as it should. When I put tube in and press check button, needle moves as it should to check tube, see picture) It is important that you realize I know nothing about this item, or if it works correctly. The meter setting knob does not move the needle as instructions state when turned, and its knob is loose. When looking from bottom inside up to underside of control panel it appears all wiring is original and intact, but there is one red wire hanging loose, am guessing it the meter ... moresetting knob power. Also the bottom door has no key so it swings open or closed on its own. My opinion is that this item is all intact and most likely will work perfectly with a bit of help from someone to service it. I took 2 photos from inside bottom up so you could see wiring. This item is 62 inches high. Not that heavy, probably 60 pounds or so, it will break down into 2 pieces, the sign at top will come off. I tried it with numerous tubes and it tested them all accurately. I don't know when it was last calibrated so probably has been too long and it should be checked over/ tuned up if you are going to use it regularly.
