Clean, and accurate EICO model 628 tube tester with the attractive brushed aluminum ... morepanel from my collection. The EICO 628 was the successor to the very popular model 625. With sockets added to test the newer tubes that were becoming available. In addition to the usual octal, loctal, 7& 9-pin miniature sockets, Eico added 5& 7-pin nuvistor sockets, novar and compactron sockets, plus 7& 9-pin pin straighteners. The 9-pin socket is actually a combination 9& 10-pin miniature socket. The 628 also has a vastly improved roll chart. The old 4. 5, 6& 7-pin sockets are gone to make room for the new ones. But the older tubes can still be tested. In fact, the data is still on the roll chart and in the tube data manual(included) All it takes is a simple adapter you can make for yourself from an old 8-pin tube base and the socket of your choice. The EICO series of test instruments were intended for professional use. And were marketed mostly to radio and TV repairmen through the local electronic parts dealerships, and their construction shows it. The professional looking brushed aluminum panel was designed to inspire confidence in the customer who saw it, and the heavy steel case of this instrument was intended to protect it well. The circuit was licensed from Triplett and is the same as the Triplett 3413. Heath and Knight also licensed the circuit and produced it as the Heathkit models TC-x and IT-xx. Knight testers are known as the KG-600 series. The test data for all of these tube testers is generally interchangeable. As can be seen from the tag on power cord and the"Tested" stamp on the inside of the case, this is a factory wired instrument- perhaps important if you want to be sure it was done correctly. Sencore TC162 Mighty Mite. I just replaced 2 capacitors and calibrated the unit. Works Great. I am also including some New Socket Savers for the 8 and 9 pin sockets. Book is in good shape. Sencore's are great testers that will for sure weed out a bad tube. Even guys with testers that cost a lot more money use a Sencore for initial tests and shorts test. Condition is decent. It wont win prizes but its average with no real dents just some scratches. Hinge and handle are fine. Some minor light surface rust to inside of lid around tube chart.

Chart rolls smooth. May need to evened out at some point, but it works fine. Tester does power up, I tested 5Y3 and 12ax7 tube and result was just as good as my calibrated Jackson 648S tester. I didn't test other sockets. However. I never got a chance(time) to go thru with any major check up or calibration. I don't know when was the last calibration performed, so please assume it might be needed if you plan on using this HEATHKIT as your primary or secondary tester and you may also check ... morecaps and upgrade if necessary.Anyway, I don't need to tell you guys out there what to do when you get vintage piece of electronics. Very Clean unit for the late 70s. Model CM16549 Chart is in perfect working order 96 socket faceplate is clean and all sockets look pretty good, pulled faceplate and as you can see the wiring is in perfect shape, unmolested other than the power cord inside bypassed to eliminate the back light. Cord needs replacing and have not the time to look into the repair of this unit, priorities have changed in retirement. So here is how I bought it and I will pass along the same deal, i will list at $285 and shipping is on me. Lower 48 sale only, local pick up is fine also, it will likely cost me the better part of a hundred to ship this but if your looking for a tester in better condition you will be paying a lot more.

Nice Signal Corps. I-177 U.S. Army Tube Tester & MX-949A/U Socket Adapter Kit
Both pieces are in Very nice condition. It line adjusts great and I tested a few tubes and compared closely to my calibrated TV-7. It did not come with a manual so I did not test the MX-949A/U tube socket adapter kit but the Gentleman I purchased them from said they both worked great and the tester does so I would guess the adapter kit does also and the full manual can be purchased here on EBAY for a good price. Both cases are in nice shape with no dents or major scratches and you can tell they were both taken care of very well and they actually look a lot better in person than the pictures show. I-177-B Tester has worked well for testing 5 and 6 pin tubes. I have not tested tubes using the other tube sockets of this tester. I removed the tester from its rugedized case to photograph its interior. No loose or broken parts were discovered. Tubes glow nicely. Tube socket adapter mx-949A/U has not been used by me. I do not know how to use it. Nor do I know if it works properly. The metal case is missing one hook to catch the right latch. From the estate of an avid HAM hobbyist.
