Here is a nice working Vintage Tube Tester. This has been tested with a few tubes by my eletronics repair man that has over 30 years experience. He has mentioned this is nice because it test the older 1920's tubes up in the left hand corner slots Case has some dings/scratches but all hinges and clasp's work as they should. Vintage Simpson Electric Model 555 Tube Tester Parts Repair Display ? Chicago
Attic find. I'm sure that in the day this was state of the art but by today's standards it's a dinosaur. And I'm sure that when it was stashed away so many years ago"dad" was sure he'd need it again. It absolutly needs a new power cord before it could even be tested safely but, after noticing some screws missing on the cover I had to open it up to make sure it wasn't gutted. As you can see in the pictures aside from a coating of dust the interior looks surprisingly good with no evidence that anything but age has deteriorated the cord on the outside of the cover, even the paper roll looks quite good. This is a large heavy object so shipping will be quoted as parcel post. Sams Television Tube Location Guides(1st and 2nd editions. 1952) Size: 15 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 6 1/4" Weight: 19 lbs Introduction The Model 335 has been designed to measure the plate conductance of amplifier tubes. The dial on the instrument indicates percentage of plate inductance which can also be considered as percentage of mutual conductance in most cases. In addition to the percentage scale. The dial is arranged in four English reading sections- Good, Fair, Weak and Replace. Exhaustive tests have shown that tubes above 85% of their rated plate conductance give good performance. While those between 70% and 85% are only fair, tubes falling between 55% and 70% will still operate but with poor results, and those ... morebelow 55% may cause serious distortion, lack of sensitivity or even damage to associated equipment if the tube is continued in service. The model 555 is probably from the late 1930's which is phenomenal given the pristine condition. It was styled in art deco which would make it a good piece for a prop house although technically it is fully functional and could find a place on the bench of any tech working on vintage equipment. Cosmetically it is probably an 8 or 9 out of 10. The case is fully intact although it has some predictable scuffs and abrasions typical of something 60+ years old. Simpson 1000 Tube Tester Tested Working
Simpson 1000 Tube Tester. Several tubes have been tested and this appears to be working just fine but it may have a problem, the line adjust control gets hot, this may be normal for this tester or it may be foretelling of an imminent failure. Other known problems are the 9 pin mini socket will need replaced as it makes intermittent contact though it feels tight and the roll chart has been taped in a couple of areas and has a few other bad spots, only a couple of areas are un-readable, the chart is also off line and crocked through the window. Shown testing a type 55 tube, a 12AU7 and a 5Z3 all known good tubes, includes the User manual which is in good condition, the manual has the circuit diagram in the back should one need it. Simpson 1000 Plate Conductance Tube Tester Calibrated and fully operational
Simpson 1000 Tube Tester. The tube tester is a Plate Conductance type of tube tester. Much better than your simple emissions testers. This tester is nearly identical to the Eico 666 tube tester. Other than the lever knobs are reversed. The question arises. Did Simpson design the tester and Eico copied it? Or did Eico design it and Simpson copy it? My guess is that Simpson designed the circuitry and Eico being a"Kit Operation" slightly modified it so they could sell kits of this excellent tube tester. As to how the tester setup is made. The first 9 lever knobs correspond to Tube Pin Numbers 1 through 9 they are labeled A-I the knob J the 10th one is the Grid Cap lever. K then sets the plate and screen grid voltages and L sets the shunt resistor value across the meter. You also will set the Bias and Range knobs as per needed for each ... moretube setup. Hickok calls these Bias and English knobs. The positions of the first 9 lever knobs is. 0 = ground. 1 = Filament, 2 = Screen Grid, 3 = plate, 4 = control grid bias, 5 = open no connection. Once you learn to operate this tube tester its reasonably easy to devise tests for tubes that aren't listed in any of the books or obsolete tube lists. I have been through this tester and done capacitor replacement. Resistor checking and calibration. I have had this tester for several years. I just have too many tube testers so this one needs to find a nice loving home. The case on the tube tester has some rough spots on the covering. Mostly on the corners. See all Photo's for case condition. The original Manual is included with the tube tester. Also included is a photocopied listing of Obsolete Tube settings. I also have the obsolete listings in PDF form and can be supplied after the auction is completed. Lastly along with the tube tester is also a"Home Brew" I think adapter box to test Compactron Tubes 9 and 12 pin. I have never used this adapter so not a clue about it other than it has two tube sockets on top for 9 and 12 pin compactrons and the plug on the

What you see is what you get. My father does not use this anymore, but when he did, he made 2 copies of the operators manual, easier to read, protected in sleeves in 2 leather bound portfolios. Please look at all the pictures closely. I am selling off all my equipment! I got this this tester with the intension of restoring it but just don't have the time. It needs restoration and is being sold as is for restoration or parts. Case looks a little rough but is solid and would work nicely with or without new covering. Will test many audio tubes. Thank you for looking! Up for your consideration is a beautiful 1950's Simpson Model 555 Radio and T.V. tube tester. This may also test amplifier tubes. If you want to send me a message with your tube numbers, I can tell you if the are on the list or not) The face, dials, meter, and switches are all in beautiful shape. The light in the meter lights up when plugged in and turned on, and I am able to center the needle in the meter with the centering dial. The tube test chart does move back and forth smoothly, and is clearly readable. This also includes some tools. Including what appears to be a tube install/ remove tool. I also downloaded and printed out a copy of the owner's manual which will be included. Since I do not have any tubes to test on this tester. I do not know if the tester part works or not. U.S. Military Tube Tester Dynamic Mutual Conductance Model I-177-B Simpson
Up for your consideration is this vintage 1950 United States military dynamic mutual conductance tube tester. Model I-177-B manufactured by Simpson. There are several versions of this tube tester that were contracted and manufactured by several different companies. Some of the more common were Daven and Triplett. Even though they were manufactured by different companies.They still had to adhere to the strict military specifications. The only thing that varied from one manufacturer to another was the components used in assembling them. What is nice about this set is it was manufactured by Simpson(somewhat rarer) It is the same company that built another fine tank, the beloved Simpson 260 multi-meter. I tested this tube tester under normal conditions and allowed it to warm up for 15 minutes. I tested it with known condition tubes and it worked ... moresatisfactory.The line cord is a little dried out and should be replaced. It cracks a little when straightening it out.
