HICKOK NAVY MILITARY VACUUM TUBE TESTER MODEL OZ-1 MEASURES Gm This tube tester is superior to the simpler emission testers for sale. It applies individual voltages to all elements and sends a varying ac signal to the grid of the tube under test. Its actual amplification factor is measured as a Gm value on the meter. Its the only way to truly match tubes in amplifiers. This tester will handle: 4.5,6,7,8 pin large base tubes; 8 pin octals; 7 pin miniatures; Acorn tubes. It does not have a socket for 9 pin miniatures. It measures Gm. Shorts and leakage/gas. Gm readings 0-3000/6000/15000. The TV-7/ 10 series of military tube testers are considered some of the best testers ever made. The TV-10 is a larger variant of the TV-7 and has a major advantage in that it reads out directly in micromhos and has a built in roll chart. The design is supremely rugged and compact. It tests a great many types quickly and easily and enjoys wide support. If you want a tube tester that gives great results with a direct readout than this is the one! The TV-10 is not a very well known tube tester. There just weren't very many of them made and they are hard to find. It is basically an up-scale version of the ever popular TV-7. The outer case has its share of superficial dings and scratches but inside it is in great condition. Very clean panel and immaculate interior. The roll chart works smoothly and the tube tester works just fine as well. The only flaws worth mentioning is a crack or two in the plastic instruction sheet mounted in the lid and the power cord is getting a little stiff. I compared the readings with a friends TV-7 and this set was close but slightly higher on the tubes we checked[12AX7. 6V6, 6L6, 6BQ5] It has a Navy calibration sticker from 1968, so it's somewhat overdue for a calibration[several guys on the web will do calibrations reasonably] It measures approx 18" X 7" X 10" and very well packed[double boxed] shipping weight will be 26.5 pounds from zip code 24012. I assume the tester will need cleaning, calibration and possibly replacement of old capacitors. The tester comes with a card punch and a calibration cell. The tester is missing the main socket deck. It was pointed out to me that although the top case is marked"118A" This tester is actually a 118B, since it has the two added"Q Base" adjustment potentiometers on the right side of the power supply. Honestly. I do not think(in your lifetime) you will ever find a more Beautiful, Iconic, Rare and WORKING piece of equipment! Look at the pictures and look at the thumb wheel for the roll chart, there is ZERO wear; the whole tester looks like it was never used, or maybe once or twice. This testers condition deserved some electrical restoration to get it back to working condition, so I did that for. There was no calibration procedure in the manual(original and included) so I simply used my Lab quality 6L6 calibration tube to verify this testers function; ALL was"right on" as expected. This Rare tester will test all older tubes, like popular 2A3 and W.E. 300A/B audio tubes. It has a modern 7 pin tube socket but not a 9 pin. Japanese pre-war Navy Ammeter by YEW. Yokogawa Electric Works. Model# K14618. Beautiful Wood and resin construction. Comes with original case and keys. The back plate is stamped with 3 Japanese crests. I have tried the meter and it reads. Any further testing has not been done so the meter is some as-is. The meter is in great shape considering its age. It has a few scuffs and scratches and the carrying case shows it's use. Please see the close up photo of the dial. There is a little dirt on the inside of the glass. As far as I can tell. It comes from being used in the Japanese navy in the 30's. But am not sure. Thanks for looking and good luck! Not all of the small tools are present(normal) but the important TS-673/U Signal Tracer and most of the other tester items are there. Up for auction is a later model Hickok AN/USM 118 B military grade tube tester of the cardmatic series. This tester was used on US Navy ships to test communications. Radar and weaponry electronics. I purchased this from the estate of a local ham radio buff and the equipment was ALWAYS stored properly in the heated main part of the home. no basement. Garage or attic) I tested several new-old stock tubes and found the unit working properly. The cardmatic unit still has the calibration seal(photo#5) intact and comes with a complete calibration manual and plug in calibration cell. The tube cards number(pre punched and numbered) in the thousands in their own case. Several tube adaptors and all needed manuals, charts and specs. will be included in the two heavy metal cases.
