A wee bit dusty the meter is in very good shape. I see no cracks or chips. Glass intact. I took the back off and took photos. It did have a C Battery but I was unsure how to even test it so its AS IS. Has the red and black cords too. Box in okay shape.some shelf wear.the leather handle is cracked on the surface from being dry. Still secure. Pamplet in good shape. Nice color. Clean pages. Heathkit IB-1101 frequency counter, working and warranted
I bought this Heathkit IB-1101 frequency counter in the 1970s. I put myself through college fixing stereo equipment. And this counter served me well for those years. College ended in'82 and I've had little use for it since. I powered it up and fed my signal generator into it. Although it is only supposed to be an 80 MHz counter. As you can see, it does count to 90MHz. I noticed as I increased the frequency that the counter is very specific about voltage levels- too little or too much and it quits counting. At 80 MHz, it was much more forgiving. I never had the manual. And never needed it. It comes with the probe shown, which is made by Dynascan(B&K Precision) and is switchable 1:1 and 10:1, by removing and rotating the probe tip. Also comes with the power cord shown. This is the old-fashioned type with three round pins, so it's ... morehard to find. I warrant that it functions. Although I don't warrant calibration- I don't know if the counter or signal generator needs cal. If they were both calibrated, it would have read 90.000 MHz. Here is a perfectly good VIZ/ RCA VTVM WV-98C. The"Senior Voltohmyst" model with a mirrored scale for accuracy, in good working order. It has been restored to the original working condition and calibrated. The Tubes 12AU7 and 6AL5 original parts were replaced with NOS and are in top condition with a conductance value of 80% Switches have been cleaned and instrument has been calibrated. A new battery has been installed. Inside of instrument is like new, with all parts in tolerance. Two separate test Probes for AC/ohms(black Probe) and DC Voltage( Red probe) will be provided. Operating manual is included. The interesting thing about this meter is it was made and sold by a company called VIZ out the ghetto in North Philadelphia that was started by the Reverend Leon Sullivan and co-shared with RCA to hand off the RCA instrument division ... moreto VIZ. The meter face says it was made in Philadelphia. However the rear Logo says RCA Harrison NJ making this equipment a rarity as neither company exists today. RCA sold off it's Test Instrument Division in 1970 to VIZ.
