For auction is a rare early example of a volt meter/tester produced by the HICKOK Electrical Instrument Company. Based out of Cleveland. Ohio. This volt tester comes with the original cables. The box is composed of a cherry red stained wood case. With brass screws, brass knobs at the front. All original. There is a crack in the glass. But otherwise in really good condition. Weston Electrical Instrument Corp. Model 931 DC Volt Meter This is a very nice vintage volt meter. Has three ranges. 0-3vdc, 015vdc, and 0-150vdc. Everything is fine on this meter and it looks like it has been well cared for. The original leather handle is attached and in super shape. All the rubber feet on the back and bottom of the meter are in fine shape. I plugged this meter on my calibrator and it was working within a few percent on all three ranges. Accuracy said to be ¼ of 1% of Full Scale. Resistance at each range is 1098.4, 2196.8, 4393.6 at 25 Deg. C. 75 V terminal knob was replaced. Crack in Bakelite at upper right of panel at +/ terminal has no effect on the instrument. Some scratches on the box. Leather on handle is strong but outer layers flaking. Wt is 11 lbs 6 oz.

I don't know if you would call the face brass or not. It is a heavy metal like brass but has more of a chrome color to it with may be a little brass in it.One of the little rubber feet is missing for when you set it up the one way. This would make a good display piece.It is not very often you find them as old as this.The meter goes to 140 volt. It can read positive or negative. I put 14 volts to it and the needle did move. The I reversed the polarity and the needle moved the other way. I believe it is in working order.I think the case is oak. it all most looks like Tiger Oak. Feel free to email questions or comments.

I find these old pieces fascinating. I bought two of these at auction some time ago. Now I'm moving out of Victorian to a beach house and there just isn't enough room. Instruments such as this were used by trained technical/scientific staff for precision laboratory measurements of electrical current. And as secondary standards for calibrating other meters. Vintage Lot of 3 Weston Electric Amp and Volt meter, Steampunk electrical gauge
This is a small lot of 3 Weston Electric meters. I have no way of testing these meter but they do appear to be in good condition with no dents. Dings, chips, cracks, or rust, but there are some scuffs and scratches from use. The smallest meter marked U.S.N. TYPE CV-22427 ZERO POWER LEVEL 6 MW. 600 OHMS. MODEL 506 has a diameter of 2 11/16" across the face. The other gauge marked MILLIAMPERES D.C. MODEL 616 no. 2897 measures 3 1/4" across the face. The last gauge is marked WESTON VOLTMETER MODEL 301 NO. 319095 and measures 3 1/4" across the face. These would also work great for an industrial or steam punk style art project. This item is a vintage low voltage circuit tester manufactured by"King" The Electric Heat Control Co. Cleveland, OH. It was manufactured for the US Government Quartermaster Corp. The model is 1-42. The case is in very good condition with a minimum of scratches, however it does have surface dirt and grime that you would expect from many years in a garage environment. The test leads were removed from the case for inspection for the first time in many years and found to be in good condition with no cracking and minimal deterioration. All leads had the requisite connectors. Included is the original instruction manual which is dated 4-43. It shows minor dirt stains on the front and back covers.
