Up for your consideration is a Hewlett-Packard Model 400GL AC(only) Voltmeter, dating from the 1960s. It bears S/N 628-00134. It is in very good used condition. And it is fully operable on all functions and ranges. This is a very popular AC voltmeter for use in pro audio. Technician testing, and R&D work. This meter is the all solid state descendant of the H-P 400H series of vacuum tube AC voltmeters. The case is aluminum, the meter is big and easy to read(with a mirrored scale) and the carrying handle is in good condition. Please see the photos for detailed views. Knowing that there are other H-P 400GLs out there right now, I'd like to tell you a few things about this one, as not much is said about the others. As of the time I listed this unit, this is the ONLY 400GL that has been checked out and verified as working(NOT just powered ... moreup) I obtained this meter in a recent purchase from the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting(near Minneapolis) as one of several items. It came to me with an incorrect power cord and no manual or test leads. It worked upon first try. And was tested on all ranges except for the 1000 volt range) The entire instrument, especially t he meter itself. Is in very good condition(see photos) I compared readings of this meter with those form my H-P 400H and a Fluke DMM. On the 1 millivolt(full scale) range, the variation of this meter from the others was within 0.02 millivolts. Since I do not have a precision AC voltage source for doing calibrations, I will say that this meter is measuring with accuracy typical of similar high quality analog meters. There are internal calibration adjustments for use when a suitable signal source is available. Note that this instrument is capable of battery operation(see photo of rear of unit) That is so the instrument can be operated free of any power line ground.
