Up for offer is a Vintage Knight VTVM- Vacuum Tube Volt Meter- Seems to be Working Includes Leads and Instruction Meter in great condition. And lights come on when plugged in and meter moves, but I don't know how to verify it works. It comes with various leads, but some of the wires need to be replaced(they are crumbling and brittle. One of the leads is broke off the wire. The cover over the meter area is not really connected and is loose(although it doesn't fall off when just sitting there) The screw that looks to hold it on doesn't seem to attach the front on- not sure why. Please look over photos for details. I also have the Knight RF Probe and a High Voltage Probe for this meter for sale in other listings. My dad purchased this kit and built the tester. The condition is excellent. The pictures pretty well tell the story. It has seen very little use. The switchable probe is stored in an attached vinyl pouch. The adjustable bracket serves as a swivel stand or a wall or under-shelf mounting bracket. I did remove the battery. But it's included as is the full assembly& user manual. Here is a vintage Hickok model 209A VTVM vacuum tube voltmeter and capacitance capacitor tester meter. In good to VG physical condition, and sort-of-working electrical condition- both the"center zero" and regular"zero" functions work fine, meter needle moves smoothly and evenly throughout entire range, all tubes test strong, and all components(except power cord) look original so may well need some replacing of out-of-spec capacitors and resistors, so selling as a to-repair set- but you're off to a good start with this one. No probes or paperwork. Very large and fairly heavy, they don't make'em like this anymore, and the huge analog meter can be seen across any room! Used HP 410B Vacuum Tube Voltmeter. Purchased from electrical engineer's estate that had a shop/lab of test equipment used for his projects. He looked very meticulous and therefore would assume working just fine. Only testing performed was powering up and rotating selector knob. When tubes warmed up. Selector on" needle shot to right then drifted back to about.1 volts, then moved selector to"+" and needle went below zero volts, then moved selector knob to AC and it when to about.05 volts, then moved selector to ohms and it moved all the way to the right and held there. Rare vintage Heathkit Vacuum Tube Volt Meter VTVM IM-32 inc manual
I've enjoyed owning this rare vintage meter- it took me back to the 60's when I first started dabbling in electronics. But now beside this I have a couple of moving coil meters, a digital Fluke and my O-scope, so I can manage without this. It's in good shape and looks to have been nicely assembled. The original owner made neat marks with a soft black pencil in the included assembly manual as he checked off each stage. Prior to listing. I check calibrated the Ohms ranges at 100 ohm and 2.2k- scroll through the last four photos before the manual photo and you can see it's good. I couldn't get the DC volts scale to calibrate. It appeared to read about 70% of the actual value, connected to the red and black terminals, not the center and black terminals. I don't have the time to troubleshoot or adjust further. This portable unit is being sold as is because it hasn't been tested. it needs 2 B batteries to test it. The meter is in fair cosmetic condition for its age with some rust along the sides. It is a good conversation piece for someone who collects 50's style technology. Again it is being sold as is with no returns except for damage during shipping. No manuals. All of this is government surplus. I tried to find one like it on the net. And I could not find one. So you have a RARE item here. I included the patent application. This is an estate find from an old Ham Radio Operator and while untested and offered for parts or repair. It does power on and appears operational.
