HISTORY The Weston Electrical Instrument Company was founded in New Jersey in 1888. The company was a pioneer in the manufacture of electric measuring instruments and developed the first accurate and portable voltmeters and ammeters. At one point in time. Weston was the world's largest manufacturer of electrical measuring instruments. The company was awarded over 310 patents and was commissioned to illuminate the Brooklyn Bridge. Founder Edward Weston was a competitor of Thomas Edison. Examples of Weston instruments are found in many technology-oriented museums. Including the MIT Museum, The Radio Museum, The Smithsonian, and The National Institute of Standards and Technology. DESCRIPTION This is a vintage Weston Electrical Instrument Corporation D.C. Voltmeter Model No. 45. The device carries various patent dates on the attached metal ... moretag. The latest being July 16, 1901. This is a transportable device that is housed in a beautiful tiger oak case. There is a thick leather carry handle and rubber feet. There is a latch that you undo in order to flip the top back and reveal the voltmeter dial and certification sheet. The meter window is glass. The wooden housing measures about 8” X 8” X 5.5" This is an early piece of the history of the electrification of America. The device really captures a moment in history and is graceful in appearance after all these years. CONDITION This item appears to be in VERY GOOD CONDITION. I don't know how to test it. So I don't know if it works. The glass is intact with no chips or cracks. The wood is in good shape with a couple of corner chips. SHIPPING Fourteen pounds packaged weight. Accuracy said to be ¼ of 1% of Full Scale. Resistance at each range is 1098.4, 2196.8, 4393.6 at 25 Deg. C. 75 V terminal knob was replaced. Crack in Bakelite at upper right of panel at +/ terminal has no effect on the instrument. Some scratches on the box. Leather on handle is strong but outer layers flaking. Wt is 11 lbs 6 oz.

This is a vintage set of Weston Model 528 Voltmeter and Ammeter. They are previously used but have not been tested to see if they are currently in working condition. They were first produced in 1929 and these particular models feature Bakelite cases. The Voltmeter measures up to 150 volts. The Ammeter has a low range of 0-3 amps and high range of 0-15 amps. Weston Electrical Electric Volt meter Model 45 vintage antique Pat Nov. 8 1888
Here is a real old vintage meter. It was made by Weston Electric in Newark NJ. USA. The pat. date is Nov.8 1888. For as old as it is it is in fairly good shape. I don't know if you would call the face brass or not. It is a heavy metal like brass but has more of a chrome color to it with may be a little brass in it.One of the little rubber feet is missing for when you set it up the one way. This would make a good display piece.It is not very often you find them as old as this.The meter goes to 140 volt. It can read positive or negative. I put 14 volts to it and the needle did move. The I reversed the polarity and the needle moved the other way. I believe it is in working order.I think the case is oak. it all most looks like Tiger Oak. Feel free to email questions or comments.

Vintage Lot of 3 Weston Electric Amp and Volt meter, Steampunk electrical gauge
This is a small lot of 3 Weston Electric meters. I have no way of testing these meter but they do appear to be in good condition with no dents. Dings, chips, cracks, or rust, but there are some scuffs and scratches from use. The smallest meter marked U.S.N. TYPE CV-22427 ZERO POWER LEVEL 6 MW. 600 OHMS. MODEL 506 has a diameter of 2 11/16" across the face. The other gauge marked MILLIAMPERES D.C. MODEL 616 no. 2897 measures 3 1/4" across the face. The last gauge is marked WESTON VOLTMETER MODEL 301 NO. 319095 and measures 3 1/4" across the face. These would also work great for an industrial or steam punk style art project.
