Especially if you are servicing vintage radio and TV equipment. Even Radio equipment built into the 1990's cannot be serviced properly without this piece of vintage gear. I am fond of the Heathkit meters and using. Servicing and restoring these meters is enhanced by a good understanding of their use and operation. This manual originally came with the EF-1 Power supply which was basically a kit used primarily to teach VTVM theory. Pages 6 through 18 deal with assembling this power supply, which is not included. However, the rest of the book is one of the best and most specific guides to understanding and using Heathkit VTVM's. I only sell capacitor replacement sets. Repair kits, accessories and information for Equipment That I Own and Service, and have done the replacements myself. My auctions include pictures of equipment on my bench. The power cord is in tact and in good shape. The plastic lens on the meter is in tact with no major scratches or cracks. All of the buttons and knobs on front are present. Turns smoothly and properly lines up with the selected settings. The needle on the scale bounces and moves smoothly. This meter contains 2 tubes. The tubes were removed, tested and reinstalled(1ea 6AL5-strong and 1ea 12AU7-weak) The unit appears to be in good shape. There are no burn marks or smells emitting from the unit. The exterior metal case of the unit has some minor scratches and surface rust. No operators manual or test probes. Excellent edition to any vintage radio collector and or radio/component repairer. Everyone who does anything with electronics NEEDS to have one of these. Especially all ham radio operators. you would be surprised at how many hams don't have a device to measure voltages, resistance, continuity etc. With this you find out if you have a complete circuit, or if a wire is broken in the circuit.
