This is one of Heathkit's neatest vacuum tube volt meters. It is extremely easy to use. You can check AC. DC- DC+, and 7 ranges of ohms. It even measures decibels. Heathkit's BEST VTVM Model IM-13 under counter mount
This is my favorite VTVM. It can sit on the work table or mount up under the shelf above. And in both instances it is adjustable so you readily read it in case of glare. Another very nice feature is that. With just a twist of the knobs on each end you can slip it out of it's mount and take it with you to another part of the work area. Notice the mount I have detached, with the"t" slots, so you can not only adjust the angle but also just slide it out of the mount. It does not have a probe with it. A guy e-mailed me on another VTVM. Saying without the probe it is useless. But anyone with a junk box can build the probe in 15 minutes.In the past I bought a lot of estate stuff and never did I get test probes with VTVMs, nor manuals) This VTVM works however as with all my auctions I offer no guaranty. The condition is excellent. The pictures pretty well tell the story. It has seen very little use. The switchable probe is stored in an attached vinyl pouch. The adjustable bracket serves as a swivel stand or a wall or under-shelf mounting bracket. I did remove the battery. But it's included as is the full assembly& user manual. It has separate ac voltage scales for the two lowest ac ranges for greatly improved accuracy on those ranges over the smaller 4.5 inch meters. Rare vintage Heathkit Vacuum Tube Volt Meter VTVM IM-32 inc manual
I've enjoyed owning this rare vintage meter- it took me back to the 60's when I first started dabbling in electronics. But now beside this I have a couple of moving coil meters, a digital Fluke and my O-scope, so I can manage without this. It's in good shape and looks to have been nicely assembled. The original owner made neat marks with a soft black pencil in the included assembly manual as he checked off each stage. Prior to listing. I check calibrated the Ohms ranges at 100 ohm and 2.2k- scroll through the last four photos before the manual photo and you can see it's good. I couldn't get the DC volts scale to calibrate. It appeared to read about 70% of the actual value, connected to the red and black terminals, not the center and black terminals. I don't have the time to troubleshoot or adjust further. It has separate ac voltage scales for the two lowest ac ranges for greatly improved accuracy on those ranges over the smaller 4.5 inch meters. It also has multi-turn zero and ohms adjust controls that make adjustment much easier than on most VTVMs. This instrument has a bracket that rotates a full 360 degrees(see photo) which can be used as a stand(as shown) or a mounting bracket to mount the instrument to the wall or the bottom ... moreof a shelf. Exact item shown. Nice Heathkit V-7A VTVM, works on DC ranges that I tested, I didn't test AC ranges or ohms- I've never seen DC work and the other ranges not work. For a nearly 60 year old meter, this is in great shape. from. The VTVM(Vacuum Tube Volt Meter) V-7A and V-7AU* came on the market in 1956 and was produced until 1961. It was the successor of the V-7 that was only produced during 1955. That in turn was the successor of the V-6. In 1961 the V-7A was replaced by the IM-11. There is only minor differences between the V-7A and the IM-11. The VTVM V-1 was one of the first Heathkit s that came on the market in 1947. Just after the oscilloscope O-1. The circuitry is very similar in all the VTVM's. Heathkit IM-18 VTVM voltmeter with manual
This volt meter is from the estate of a ham radio operator. It's been given a good inspection- the slight amount of dust inside was blown out and Caig deoxit 5 was applied to the contacts and rotating switches. A new battery was installed and all functions have been tested. The front panel and meter lens are in perfect condition. The cabinet had some flaws, so it was sanded and a new coat of high quality paint applied. Although no longer'factory original' it now has an excellent finish. It comes with a complete copy of the original IM-18 manual which details everything needed to operate, calibrate and maintain the instrument. The manual includes information about the various probes required for testing different types of circuits, and includes instructions for making your own basic probe.
