It looks as if you could do Morse Code with it. It was made to teach Electricity to high school students a long time ago. The silver plaque reads: A Sigh of Quality WELCH A Mark of Service W. M. Welch Scientific Company Established 1880 1515 Sedgwick St. Chicago USA I am sure this piece is older than 1968. Because the Welch Company merged with another manufacturer of scientific educational supplies named Sargent and the company became Welch and Sargent. Vintage gereral electric co. lynn mass. U.s.a. alternating current ammeter stadardizing laboratory, type P3 No. 780169, capacity 200 amperes, last tested august 22, 1925. Wooden case(8"X8"X51/2) and hardware are intact. The out side of box has scratches. Nicks, and small white paint specks and one of the legs is wore down. Inside the box is nice condition. So I'm not exactly sure what this is. I'm also not sure of the Brand. It says James G. Biddle Co. on the unit. And Esterline-Angus on the actual meter/recorder part. I DO NOT know if it is in working condition. I Repeat. I DON'T KNOW if it is in working condition, so it is sold as is with no returns. It was in a mixed bunch of items I got and I know nothing about it. Or it's history, and I have no way of testing it. A large vintage Westinghouse U.S. Navy amp meter. It measures over 4" square across the face and 4 1/4" deep less the connections. The face as well as the glass are in very good condition.
