This is very cool old voltage tester. They knew how to make things last back in the day. This tester. Has not been tested. I tend to blow fuses with my voltmeter, and then I have to reset clocks, the oven, microwave, re boot the computer that lost all the pages I forgot to save. So, I am not going to stick the probes of this tester in an electrical socket, I am too scared. I can say it looks very vintage. 2 brass plates look great, the over all condition is very good, for an old item. This gauge does work and the needle does move when a voltage is applied. But I believe the shunt resistor is bad, I put a 3volt battery on it and it read 51volts. Sold as is for parts not working. No returns and no refunds. Measures 5.5"X5.5"X4.25" not including the terminal posts on the back. The glass is cracked. See all photos. The Enclosure is made of metal. Very neat old pocket voltage meter tester is said to be from 20's or 30's. I am not particularly knowledgeable in this type of thing; please see photographs. I got the limited information I have, from it being printed on face. Glass'bezel' has 1" crack going vertical on left side, but it is quite stable. It has Amps gauge in black, and Volts in red. Two points out bottom are about 1/2" long, and another is out end of cord/wire, extending from top. It's about 3 1/4" tall with top ring, and 2 1/8" wide. Here is a circa 1967 commercial use voltage tester from the Square D Company. It is cat. no. 5008 and measures 110-600v AC or DC and polarity. It comes with the original blue vinyl carring case that you can put on your belt. It also has complete instructions for use. The meter is in fine shape. No cracks, chips or hairlines. I tried it out on AC and it does fine.the meter vibrates when it is testing AC. The small dome on top tells you if you have positive or negative DC voltage depending on how you have the probes on the voltage. I tested it on DC voltage inside a radio across plates on a tube and it worked OK as well. You are bidding on an incredible Vintage Reco Voltage Meter. This old meter was made by the Rectifier Engineering Company in Los Angeles. CA. The meter case is made of black bakelite and the back plate is black pressed steel. It has a sharp steel probe on the bottom and a screw terminal on the top for a wire. Only issue is part of the bottom is broken off, however, it still displays very nicely. It measures about 3" wide and 8" long. Good Luck Bidding!
