Meter has been in storage for 40years. So battery is dead and unit is untested. Simpson’s Model 8455 Line Loop Tester detects line shorts. Opens and multiple ringers, DC voltages and loop resistance. Vintage Simpson 392 AC/DC VOLT-WATTMETER: This Vintage circa 1950’s AC/DC VOLT-WATTMETER is used and in excellent physical and working condition. It has come from an estate of similar era meters and test equipment(see our other eBay items) The AC/DC Volt- VOLTS-METER has a dual wattage range of 0-1000 and 0-5000 AC/DC watts and a dual voltage range of 0-130 and 0-260 AC/DC volts. It features two switches one for watts and one for volts to change the scales. This meter has the owner’s name scratched into one side and otherwise it is in exceptional condition. This meter comes in its original fitted box which has a tear and a worn corner on the front top edge. The rubber leads attached to the meter are in excellent condition and the clasp and handle on the box are in very good condition. This auction is for a vintage Simpson Load Type Battery Tester Voltmeter Model 245. Made by the Simpson Electric Company of Chicago. Illinois, U.S.A. Its case, measuring about 5" x 3" x 2" deep. Is made from red bakelite. The DC voltage ranges are: 2 V, 4 V, 8 V, 50 V, 100 V. And 150 V. The higher voltage ranges are for"A" and"B" batteries found in vacuum tube radios. If desired. An internal load can be applied to the battery under test. For example. The 2 V range has a resistance of 2 Kohms with LOAD OFF, but 7 ohms with LOAD ON. This load resistance increases as the voltage range increases. The LOAD ON setting should be used briefly as it quickly drains a battery and generates heat inside the tester case. The condition of this battery tester is as follows: A known test voltage was applied to the probes. ... moreWith LOAD OFF. A wee bit dusty the meter is in very good shape. I see no cracks or chips. Glass intact. I took the back off and took photos. It did have a C Battery but I was unsure how to even test it so its AS IS. Has the red and black cords too. Box in okay shape.some shelf wear.the leather handle is cracked on the surface from being dry. Still secure. Pamplet in good shape. Nice color. Clean pages. Vintage Minty Simpson 260 5P Overload Protected w/ Leads and Manual – Untested
The cabinet is shiny with no chips or cracks and the white printing still looks crisp. The glass and scale look equally good. I bought this at an estate sale recently where almost all of the“guy things” were great old plumbers/pipe fitter tools that were heavily used. The owner probably bought it because he thought that he would need it occasionally. But I don’t think that he ever took it out on service calls. Testing AC and DC looked good, but the three“R” ranges didn’t seem normal. Touching the leads together on the RX10,000 setting causes the meter to peg. The R1 and R100 settings do allow you to zero the meter but I don’t think they are accurate. Because of this I am offering this AS IS. For the testing this I put in a new D cell(included) The old 15 volt battery tested good.
