Vintage RCA WG-87B"Master VoltOhmyst" VTVM This top of the line. Famous test equipment" retailed in my 1959 Allied radio catalog for $137.50! excluding probes or wires! Cleaned and inspected. This unit has all good testing(1) 12AU7& 2) RCA 6AL5 tubes. Decaying"Ray-O-Vac" D battery was removed and is ready to be replaced. A 10uf@ 250v. filter cap I've replaced with new fresh quality stock. The.1uf@1600 volt cap is leaky and should be replaced by new owner before power up. All the remaining sprague orange drops and military style resistors look to be in excellent condition as is the rest of the interior cosmetically. Powered this up to around 50 volts A.C. to see if meter worked. Meter needle moved(see 2nd photo) but pilot light did not come on. Sold as/is. VINTAGE RCA UZ4238 DUAL TEST METER
This RCA UZ4238 is about 70 years old and was used to test audio amplifiers used in radio broadcasting facilities. One meter was for voltage readings and the other was for current. A tag on the meter indicates that the last time it was tested was in 1959. It was probably removed from service in the late 1960s. The cable is cloth covered and it has a telephone type plug. And is used for the current meter. There were separate probes for voltage readings but I do not have them. There is a push button on the side to change the meter scale to 0-10 mA. The case is made of black bakelite. Condition is pretty good considering the age. The individual meters were made by Weston. I tested the volt meter and it works. I didn't have an easy way to check current. Will pack and ship anywhere in the US for $12. Payment by PayPal.

It is in great condition with no scratches or marks. The battery is still in it and has no corrosion. This was a bench meter and kept in nice shape. It comes with the AC-DC probe. The meter window is almost completely clear and crack-free. Sorry. I don't have the manual but you can find scans online. I don't know enough about these to fully test or calibrate it, so I'm selling it as-is. However I can verify that the unit turns on, and the tubes are in good condition and the filaments light up like normal. It would be a great addition to a vintage electronic collection. Here is a perfectly good VIZ/ RCA VTVM WV-98C. The"Senior Voltohmyst" model with a mirrored scale for accuracy, in good working order. It has been restored to the original working condition and calibrated. The Tubes 12AU7 and 6AL5 original parts were replaced with NOS and are in top condition with a conductance value of 80% Switches have been cleaned and instrument has been calibrated. A new battery has been installed. Inside of instrument is like new, with all parts in tolerance. Two separate test Probes for AC/ohms(black Probe) and DC Voltage( Red probe) will be provided. Operating manual is included. The interesting thing about this meter is it was made and sold by a company called VIZ out the ghetto in North Philadelphia that was started by the Reverend Leon Sullivan and co-shared with RCA to hand off the RCA instrument division ... moreto VIZ. The meter face says it was made in Philadelphia. However the rear Logo says RCA Harrison NJ making this equipment a rarity as neither company exists today. RCA sold off it's Test Instrument Division in 1970 to VIZ. Vintage RCA Senior Voltohmyst VTVM, Old Volt Ohm Meter with History. No battery
Vintage RCA Senior Voltohmyst Model WV 98A RCA Senior Voltohmyst. Yep. This is the model"A" as in 98A. I found this at an estate liquidation and although I did not test it because of a frayed AC cord near the entrance point, I do know a little bit about it as a result of notes attached to it by the previous owner. Apparently he was aging and having difficulty working with his hands. He evidently realized his troubleshooting days were behind him so he removed the battery to prevent damage and twisted the wires together. He further noted that the white wire is positive. See photo below. He also coiled the wires and tired them together and left a note describing all this and dated this action 1989. There is no indication that there was, or is, anything wrong. Rider RCA Chanalyst, Vintage Test Equipment. Works Well! 1945.
This a RCA- Rider"Chanalyst" vintage. Multi-channel electronics tester made in the U. S. of A. it is date stamped 1945. This tester was a high-tech tester in its time that could be used to quickly find faults with a radio circuit by substituting known good circuits(in the Chanalyst) for the suspect section is the item being repaired and thereby quickly isolating the problem to one section of the radio being tested. Since the Chanalyst has radio RF/IF and amplifier circuits built in, it can also be connected to make a working radio, thus verifying the circuits are operating properly. This particular unit has properly operating RF/IF sections, AF pre-amp, Watt-meter and Voltmeter sections. I don't have a way to test the RF oscillator, so I don't know if it works or not. For the sake of completeness, let's say it does not ... morework(which will be a nice surprise if it does! This tester has been well care for during its 69 years, with only minor dents/dings/scratches/areas of wear. The cabinet had just been repainted when I received it and the rubber feet replaced. The electrolytic capacitors in the power supply and the AC power cord have been replaced and the controls and switches cleaned also. This Chanalyst has been internally"moisture and fungus treated, June 1945" probably due to U.S. military use in tropical or damp locations(as a result the chassis and inner works are glossy and yellow) There are no cables or other equipment included, but it uses standard 1/4" jacks, so cables could be easily made for whatever purposes you desire to use it. All four of the 6E5 tuning-eye tubes are good, and are quite bright. All the pictures were taken in a brightly lit room, and the eye tubes are viewable. I an including one jumper to connect"RF/IF out" and"AF in" jacks(see picture#12) which allows the unit to be used as an AM radio when an antenna is connected to the RF IN jack and the AF output jack is connected to an amplifier and speakers or a headphone.
