The red light comes on and was able to adjust the meter with the various knobs. I'm sure if some one knows how to calibrate this thing it would be a nice addtion. The unit is in good condition. But the handle is starting to unravel a bit.

I recently opened THREE $100 clamping voltmeters from a leading brand[still factory sealed. to check the fuses because they didn't work. and found they had numerous parts missing from the plant[in China] Unfortunately I need the cash more than I need this meter. Which came from a plant far from China! It needs an uncommon battery. And this model doesn't have ac power cord socket, so I opened the case& checked boards with another working meter. Looks good, components test good, but can't power up to check if may need calibration/adjustment. Actually. There is a fix/work-around for the battery problem. I was going to do the following modification on this meter, but other priorities have intervened: The meter wants 22.5 V DC[battery] input. ... moreYou can readily find the"iRobot Roomba Power Supply AC Adapter Charger Model:17062" which supplies 22.5 V DC to a standard 2.5 mm jack. Dear bidder, This item is sold as is. It was removed from working avionics repair shop. But I lack the HF experience and tools to test. It powers up and the instruments are responsive when probes are left un-grounded responding to stray HF. Every attempt was made to protect the probes from over voltage and it seems the internal probe amplifiers are in working condition and sensitive to stray HF from other instruments in the shop. When probe tips are grounded the instruments quiet down. The instruments respond to the controls in some way. One of the probes has a dent in the ground sleeve but the electronics inside seem unharmed, one screw-in probe tip is missing, the probe cables are not frayed. All boards are present and all enclosure parts are present. This Voltmeter was owned and used by the United States Air Force(they said don’t remove the sticker and I darn sure wasn’t taking it off! so based on what I’ve seen and what I’ve tested, I have to believe that they took really good care of it! IT powers on as you can see on pictures. this is the only testing done on it. Shows signs of age and the power cord in good condition overall great condition! Made in U.S.A. Volts 115/230. 50 1000 Cycles( Serial number F4378) Does not come with leads. Copied this from the internet. As you can see this unit is a very early serial number. Local pickup is free. Otherwise I will only ship FEDEX ground. Packed with TLC and a lot of bubble wrap. After repairing both a and a VTVM. I decided to tackle the oldest model of the series, the 400A. The 400A is the same size as the later 400C but uses all octal tubes and has an upper working limit of 1 MegaHertz. It's lowest level range ... moreis 0.03 volt full-scale. Its circuit consists of a 6SQ7 as cathode-follower input amp, two stages of 6AC7 amplifiers and a 6H6 as meter rectifier. Designed by David Packard in 1942, it is listed in the first HP catalog in 1943. When compared to the 400C and 400D models. It lacks external connections as a wide-band amplifier and does not use DC for amplifier filaments. DC is necessary in the other two models for their lower ranges(down to 1 millivolt) Like the other two models, the 400A power supply is voltage regulated. The 400A uses a 5Y3 rectifier, 0D3 regulator, 6SQ7 error amp, and 6V6 as pass tube. Repairs Before ever plugging in the 400A. I replaced the rotted power cord, a leaky 1 MFD capacitor, and the fuse holder for which the rivets had failed due to metal fatigue. After those repairs, I did a slow power up to reform the electrolytics. The meter went to full scale without any input. I pulled one side of the 0.1 MFD coupling cap between the two 6AC7 amp tubes. That allowed the meter to stay at zero. Although the original cap was a bit leaky, replacing it did not solve the problem. Even with the first 6AC7 pulled out, the meter still read fullscale. Up for sale is a HP 410A vacuum tube voltmeter. In used and fair cosmetic condition. The unit has a replaced power plug and can be powered on, but beyond that no way to test and as such it is assumed non-working and is sold as parts or collectible item. It was introduced in 1946 and was the first RF high frequency voltmeter which can be used to measure AC voltage of up to 700MC with the special diode, which was developed by ENMAC and was considered the first example of tailor-made components for HP instruments(there is more info on the web) The voltmeter was used by a retired US radio engineer and is in fair condition- the glass was broken as received(but replacing with a plexiglass should not be too difficult) The lower part of the case is slightly deformed, some paints came off and some rusts appear on those surface. rubber feet were lost. ... moreOther than that others including the probes seems to be complete. But again this has to be sold as non-working parts as something of almost 70 years old and for sure some professional work is needed to restore this back to normal working condition.
