For auction is a rare early example of a volt meter/tester produced by the HICKOK Electrical Instrument Company. Based out of Cleveland. Ohio. This volt tester comes with the original cables. The box is composed of a cherry red stained wood case. With brass screws, brass knobs at the front. All original. There is a crack in the glass. But otherwise in really good condition. Weston Electrical Electric Volt meter Model 45 vintage antique Pat Nov. 8 1888
Here is a real old vintage meter. It was made by Weston Electric in Newark NJ. USA. The pat. date is Nov.8 1888. For as old as it is it is in fairly good shape. I don't know if you would call the face brass or not. It is a heavy metal like brass but has more of a chrome color to it with may be a little brass in it.One of the little rubber feet is missing for when you set it up the one way. This would make a good display piece.It is not very often you find them as old as this.The meter goes to 140 volt. It can read positive or negative. I put 14 volts to it and the needle did move. The I reversed the polarity and the needle moved the other way. I believe it is in working order.I think the case is oak. it all most looks like Tiger Oak. Feel free to email questions or comments.

This is a beautiful antique piece that was designed to test the voltage of various electronic equipment. This piece was made in 1918 by the Weston Electrical Instrument Company in Newark. New Jersey. The piece is built into a beautiful wood case(likely oak, but we're not certain) with brass latches and hinges. The case opens up to reveal a lower panel with the original company paperwork tag that gives details on usage and the range it can measure. The top part of the interior is a textured metal panel with the volt meter in the center. There ... moreis a brass badge on the front of the piece that says"Made by Weston Electrical Instrument Company, Newark NJ, Patented July 16, 1901, Model 45, Serial No 17449. Just below the badge is a"Correction" mechanism which allows you to calibrate the machine. This is a beautiful antique piece that would be great for any collectors of antique electronic equipment! Condition: This piece is antique and used with some wear. The piece has not been tested and we cannot confirm if it works or not. The wood case has some wear from use and age. Including some scratching, light dents and and chips in the wood.I believe there was another cap on the negative side at one time, no longer there. The interior is relatively clean with some light tarnishing from age and some fading and discoloration on the paper label from age. There may have originally been a leather handle on the exterior, but that piece is not included. Overall this is in nice condition for its age, and has a nice antique patina which gives it a classic look. I find these old pieces fascinating. I bought two of these at auction some time ago. Now I'm moving out of Victorian to a beach house and there just isn't enough room. Instruments such as this were used by trained technical/scientific staff for precision laboratory measurements of electrical current. And as secondary standards for calibrating other meters. The mirrored scale makes it easier to read the instrument to a given accuracy by enabling the user to eliminate parallax errors. This particular instrument was specified to be accurate to ±0.5% The instrument in housed in a 7" x 6-3/4" x 3-1/4" walnut case with a mahagony looking finish. It has a leather handle. The front panel has a window cut into it to view the meter face. The meter has a mirrored scale. The serial number(46328) is stamped on the inside as ... morewell as the the front plate. This is a really cool find. This was found high in the rafters of a barn near Sebastian Florida. It looks as though somebody made the case and It gave it a very neat primitive look. Overall in measures 5 inches tall 4 inches deep and a little over four and a half inches wide. I have not hooked any electrical currents to this. So I have no idea the working condition. Antique Weston Electrical Model 496 Meter - AC Amperes - Industrial Gauge
It is a Weston Electrical Amperes meter. The meter is 6" tall x 5 3/4" wide x 8 1/4" deep. Including the posts. It weighs five and three quarter pounds. The latest patent date is 1913. There is a tag attached to one of the posts with a date of 1962. It has some paint scratches and rust spots but is otherwise in good used condition. I don't know if it works. How it works or if any parts are missing. A cool antique meter. Would look great with industrial furnishings.
