Columbia Electric TONG- TEST Bakelite Amp Clamps This is a good working set of two meter modules and one clamp/handle assembly. The clamp portion is made of a cast metal frame and laminated steel jaws with a heavy black wrinkle finish paint. The handle is made of bakelite. The meters measure 50 Amps and 200 Amps respectively. They will measure AC as well as DC current. The meter cases are made of heavy black bakelite. The clamp has a serial number of: C-61485. The 50 Amp module: 31477C, and the 200 Amp module: C-G1485. This is a very interesting set of test meters in very good condition. They are usable as is and indestructable. From the Web: The Columbia tong test ammeter. Manufactured by Weschler Instruments. This is a vintage General Electric clamp-on a m meter and voltmeter with a rotating scale in working used condition. It comes with its original leather case in somewhat rough shape but serviceable. The leads have been soldered to the base of the meter- don't know if this was original or a modification. But have just tested them and they do function. This is a heavy duty piece of equipment. Up for auction is a vintage Weston AC amp meter with 100 amps full scale. It is a model number 156 with serial number 58413. I used a AA battery to test it and it did deflect the needle but do not know about the calibration. This meter has Patent dates of June 1892. July 1894 and April 1913. The face Measures approx. 6 1/2" across and the back flange is approx. 7 1/4. The meter is 3" from front to back with the 1/2" studs for the connection extending another 2" The meter itself weighs in at almost 7 pounds. Thanks for looking and happy bidding. RARE VINTAGE GENERAL ELECTRIC AMP METER IN BLACK BAKELITE CASE * 0-5A AC *WORKS
A beautiful and rare Vintage Laboratory Electrical Meter. Made by General Electric of America with nice GE logo on the case and the meter scale. This is an amp meter(ampmeter) with a range of 0-5A AC at 25-125 c/s as per its markings. The black bakelite case is in very good condition for its age. Just a few normal scratches/scuffs noticed, no cracks as far as we can see. Hinge in good condition. Working fine, the meter itself is very low series resistance(less than 1 ohm on my multimeter) and the non-linearity of the scale suggests this is probably a moving iron type movement. I would think with some tlc and bakelite polishing paste this will come up really nice and shiny! Tested on a low voltage transformer and series resistor it seems to be working but we cannot vouch for the calibration accuracy across the whole scale(no idea what it was ... moresupposed to be anyway) Will be shipped very well packed indeed with the usual"shorting link" added to dampen the movement during transit. I have no way to test this meter, but the needle is sensitive to handling of the meter and moves around a bit, so it is not seized and I have every expectation that the meter is functional. We had a friend of ours who is an electrician check out the meter. And IT DOES WORK! This is a Real nice add for any Collection. It does need cleaning WE NEVER CLEAN or REPAIR ITEMS THAT WE SELL.
