Sand Blasting is a superior method of cleaning and prep for paint or sealing over Bead Blasting in this case. And if you doubt that just ask I will tell you why. Here is an exceptionally nice original gas tank for a 3-5hp IHC LA and LB engine. This tank is as nice as they get and has no repairs and no holes! Last time this tank held gas it didn't leak a drop and I have thoroughly inspected it just recently and cant see any pin holes or even rust inside it. This tank is NICE and you won't find one better. Fuel Gas Tank for Hit Miss Stationary Gas Engine Round old tin tank Weber Marine
This offering is for a nice old fuel tank for some old hit miss stationary gas engine. In a quick glance at the Big Yellow Book I noticed several engines using a tank apearing to be similar to or the same as this tank. Dimensions are as follows 7"X7" The fill plug which is not loose is 3/8" and the outlet bung is 1/4" with a 1/4"X1/8" reducer in it. I can not see any holes. But if there are any a quick coating of tank sealer would take care of the issue. The main issue I see is a area on an edge that took a hit. You can see it in one of the pictures. The dent is on the bottom so at least it will not be facing up. Other wise as you know finding good old tanks like this is getting harder every day. Keep in mind that if you want an original looking tank on your engine that its hard to find a tin man let alone getting ... morethem to make a tank in the old styles any more with all the old style flares and lips and so on. His son told me that this tank was hooked up to an air compressor that was run by a Hit& Miss Engine. The tank is not big. It weighs only 12 lbs and stands 31 1/2" high from the bottom to the top of the gauges, the tank is 9 1/2" in diameter x 12 1/2" at the base. The tank has beautiful riveted construction on the seams. All the gauges are original antique. Look at the old control knobs, they are really neat! The tank is in excellent condition there are no dents or bends, needs cleaning. NO RESERVE! Sold As ls! Fairbanks Morse 1-1/2 hp Engine Fuel Tank Hit and Miss
Up for auction is a galvinized fuel tank for a Fairbanks Morse 1-1/2 hp engine. It is designed to sit on top of the wooden skids. The tank does not have any holes in it and would be ready to mount on your engine. It has been brazed some around the cap but is a pretty good job. If it were painted you wouldnt notice it. Brass Steam Engine Tractor Train Whistle Hit Miss Kit With Compressor and Tank
I have a antique Crain 125 Brass whistle that measures 8 1/2 inches tall 1 1/4 diameter. This kit includes a a brass line from the compressor to the tank with a 160 psi gauge a small I would guess to be 2 gallon tank. Also a good antique Kelvinator compressor with a pressure relief valve and pully. All you need is a line from the tank to the whistle and a antique engine to power the compressor. This set up is great for shows or parades buy it now and have time to build it all before the spring shows. Should be an easy Prime/Paint job for you if you choose to paint. It had some tank treatment inside but was so old and cracked that I removed it. There is some pitting on the bottom of the tank. Not bad considering its age. But all and all good shape. I water tested it and the only leak I found was around the drain plug, so will need to either buy or make a new plug bushing. Hit Miss Engine Gas Tank Fuller Johnson FPE
Not 100% sure this goes with a Fuller Johnson FPE. This was a spare with the engine when I purchased. It only had two bolts to hook up to mixer, the one hooked up had four. Measure out to 8.5" in diameter. 4" tall. The bolts are 2-3/4" center to center. The large hole for the pick tube is 1" from the edge of tank. You are bidding on a very nice original gas tank. For a 6 and/or 8hp Associated engine. These pictures do not do the tank justice. The tank is in excellent shape, only thing wrong with it, is that it's missing the filler cap, I'm sure you can find a new one from multiple suppliers. The top of the tank is 15" in diameter, the bottom is 13.5" in diameter and the tank is 6 3/4" tall. This is not a small tank! I really think it would look correct on a 6, 8 and even a 12hp engine. I think it's correct for both 6 and 8hp, but nobody is going to tell you it's wrong if you put in behind a 12hp. There are NO pinholes, the gas line fitting looks to have been resoldered, it probably broke lose years ago, but that is the only thing wrong with the tank and all it hurts is looks, you could remelt the solder and do a better ... morejob if your peticular. The inside of the tank looks GREAT, no built up varnished gas, or rust. This tank is ready to mount behind your Associated engine, and run your gas line. Nice patina. These real large embossed tanks don't come up for sale often, and usually not this nice! NO pitting, only a few very minor dents on the top. They aren't making them! Feel free to ask questions.
