Clinton motor from the Clinton machine co. Maquaketa. Iowa USA Model VS 300 NON I don't really know anything about this small engine.it seems to be pretty complete to me other than missing gas cap? It is not locked up.when I turn the pull rope on top by hand the shaft on bottom side also turns and can hear valves move thru spark plug hole if that tells you anything? It does have oil plug but seems tight and i do not want to break it.all I have done to this is wash some of the oil off to see just what we have! Rare Vintage Clinton GEM 2 3/4 HP Motor Collectable Gas Engine Aluminum Block with a cast iron sleeve- Weighs about 23 lbs. This engine came from an estate sale in central Indiana. I don't know much about engines but I will describe it as best I can. The engine turns over ok and has lots of compression. The spark plug is very clean-inside and out. I removed it and checked) I removed the oil and it was clean as new. I wish I had saved it. I didn't test for spark. The only way I know to test is painful. The gas tank is completely dry and looks pretty clean. It didn't come with a pull rope. I guess you could buy or make one. Vintage Carter Model N Clinton ? Carburetor Gasoline Gas Engine Motor
I am no expert on vintage carburetors& such. I could be wrong but with some research I found this to be a Vintage Carter Model N Clinton Carburator. Let my pictures play a big part of my description. The brass float inside the bowl is free& when you push up on it the little plunger inside goes up& falls back down when releasing it. Looks to be missing the needle valve& there are some dents on the aluminum bowl probably from years back when they were having trouble with the engine& they would tap on the bowl to release the float.
