Lauson Antique Gas Stationary Engine - Motor
This 1939. Lauson Built, cast iron motor was sold as a Montgomery/Ward product. The Lauson name is cast into the crankcase, but MW put their name on the ID tag. It starts with one pull and runs very well. No smoke, no misfires. It runs just like it should. I completely restored it and painted it while disassembled. The round gas tank has some small dents that I was unable to remove due to lack of internal access. Mounted on a solid oak board. Great show engine if you belong to a club. It will run all day long at a engine show and not miss a beat. Because of the weight(40 lb) buyer must arrange local pickup. Contact me with any questions. Rick
Old 3 1/2hp Lauson Alpha Hit Miss Gas Engine Antique Motor Steam Tractor WOW
This is a 3 1/2hp John Lauson/Alpha Model W hit and miss gas engine. It is a true hit and miss engine and was built by the John Lauson Company for the DeLaval Dairy Supply Company. It is a restoration project that was started and needs to be finished. It is mostly complete except it is missing the Wico EK magneto as can be seen but these turn up quite frequently here on Ebay. It has the correct hinged cast iron crank guard. The piston and rod are out because the wrist pin came loose at some point and scored the cylinder. The grooves have been JB welded and it needs to be honed back out. The fella that did this had very good luck with this method on several other engines. There is a repair on the detent pivot and on the rocker arm as can be seen. The head has already been repaired. The engine has been repainted at some point in its working ... moreday. It needs some other small generic engine parts like valve springs. Keepers, and some new head studs as three of the originals are twisted off. With a little patience and time this should be a pretty straightforward project. These are very good running engines when they are dialed in. The 3 1/2hp is the largest of the W series and is quite tough to find compared to the 1 1/2 and 2 1/2hp sizes. The pictures tell the story. I can deliver this to Baraboo, WI, Portland, IN, or Coolspring, PA, later this year for free. I can also ship it quite reasonably through Fastenal. He took it to several tractor shows. He has had these engine in storage for the past 12 years. The engine has very little run time on it. This is an old LAUSON engine cart in very good condition. I can find no cracks. Breaks or welds. Just add your own rails and your in business. This cart has the 1 ½“ solid steel axles that are 32“ wide so it should handle a sizable engine. The rear wheels are 17 ½“ dia. X 2 ½“ wide and the fronts are 13 ½“ dia. X 2 ½“ wide. I am not sure if the handle is original or not but it is an original formed steel handle in very good condition and works well. This is a very nice set of engine trucks. antique kick start Lauson RAY gas engine
For sale is what I think is a Lauson RAY- it is missing the tag. I'm pretty sure it is the wrong carb on the engine(the intake tube has been welded) Two of the lugs are broken off the base. The engine turns over but does not seem to have much compression. These engines are a little hard to find. I have to many projects and will likely never get around to this one so it's time to send it down the road. Please look at the picture closely as these are a big part of the description and ask me any questions before bidding. If you want more pics just let me know and I will email them to you. here we have an old lauson 4 cycle stationary engine. motor still turns and looks pretty complete with the exception of the spark plug and air cleaner. fuel tank has very minimal surface rust. still mostly galvanize. thanks for looking and check out my other sales for more great deals. shipping is estimate so wait for invoice to pay. shipping could be cheaper.
