Antique Vintage Briggs and Stratton WMB, WI, WM, 5S restored
Here is another small vintage. Collectible engine. Unfortunately it does not have a data plate, but probably belongs to the Briggs WMB. WI, 5S? series. It is painted in all correct black. Has the correct oil bath cleaner and carburetor. Muffler is missing, but for a couple bucks you can purchase a aftermarket reproduction muffler. The tank as a couple minor dings, although previously cleaned, I guess the high humidity produced a new layer of small rust spots. So the first couple runs you may want to clean out the sediment bowl more often. This is a rope start model and probably was used to power a lawn mower. It does have a good spark and you can see the engine has been gone through. Because of all new gaskets at the oil pan, carb. I will drain the oil and pack properly if it needs to be shipped. Antique Vintage Briggs and Stratton WMB, WM, Sears 500
Here is a vintage Briggs and Stratton engine. Badged and probably sold as and by Sears as Model 500. I believe they resemble the WMB or WM line from Briggs. It is an older restoration. Where the previous owner didn't agree with Henry Fords color selection philosophy. The block, head, carb and flywheel is painted red. It is the kickstart model, which also places it in the washing machine application like so many others, such as Maytag, Iron Horse, Continental. The shroud is not rusted. Has a couple minor imperfections, but is far from being a"repainted, beat up piece of sheet metal" The pot metal carburetor(mixer) is also in good condition. Nothing broken off. You can see that the tank is not original, however, it is very clean on the inside and somebody went through great length to made an adapter plate which a) closed the carburetor ... morehole for the previous application and b) to adapt the check valve and fuel line. The engine sparks and probably only needs some gas to fire up. The governor linkage is also there. The muffler is not here. Many substitute these aftermarket repro muffler, commonly available for a couple bucks. It is mounted on a piece of plywood for storage and display, however, I will remove for a more compact packing. Overall. This is a nice little engine, a step away from the boring black, but maybe that will attract some youngsters or a collector who wants to freshen up his line of 50 or more black painted engines. I will drain the oil and pack properly if it needs to be shipped. The engine weighs approx. 35lbs and I will ship this most likely FEDEX ground. Antique Vintage Briggs & Stratton WM WMB air cooled kick start engine Nice!
This auction is for a Briggs& Stratton Model: WM Type: 95476 Serial: 184710. This engine is in pretty condition and the owner told me it had been sitting a couple years since he rebuilt it. If I am remembering right it had the valves lapped in. Cylinder honed, new piston& rings along with new connecting rod and all new gaskets. Also the base it is on has a hole bored through it so the engine oil can be drained without removing it from the base. The only things I could find to note is that one fin is broken off the flywheel, and there is some varnish in the fuel tank from it sitting the last few years. Would make a good project for somebody! Vintage 1948 Briggs and Stratton model WMB
Here is a neat little Briggs model WMB. The Brass tag reads Type 95476 and Serial number 89894. Overall it is a great engine. Previous owner replaced or repaired what was necessary. It has a nice spark and shouldn't take much more than fresh clean gas to get it going. It has been run after the restoration of an auxiliary tank, therefore the installed tank is dry and clean and not gummed up. The tank is an original Briggs piece, which seen better days. It is not leaking, but does have quite a significant dent(see picture) but considering a new one runs over 50 bucks alone. The shroud is not dented. Carburetor does not show signs of cracks or breaks. On the pulley is a repair made with the magical JB weld it seems, but would not affect the use of a belt. The muffler is the easy to obtain aftermarket type. Flywheel is painted red. Nice contrast, ... morebut may be not for the purist. Governor adjustment screw is there and all levers work properly. If you consider current market prices for i.e. Brass tag. Carburetor, kick start lever, I would say I start the bidding process at a fair rate. If you have any questions. Let me know, but understand that any request shortly before the auction ends, may not be answered on time. Properly packed and boxed it may weigh in around 45-50 lbs. So far FEDEX ground/home delivery have done a great job for me. The engine is currently mounted on a piece of wood. I will discard and also take the spark plug out, probably the muffler and will disconnect the fuel line and gas tank. That seems to be the best way to protect the stuff which easily breaks off. This is an Original Muffler. Exhaust Hose& Engine Coupler For The Briggs& Stratton W Series Of Engines. Like W WM WMB WI This May fit different models Or Brands Of Engines, But Are commonly seen on the Briggs& Stratton WMB Wash Machine Engines, But would look good On any Engine That Uses A 1/2" Pipe thread for the exhaust Like Johnson Iron Horse And A few other Small Gas Engines. 1941 Vintage Briggs and Stratton Model WMB
Here is another refurbished little Briggs engine. The serial number puts it around 1941. It has received a make over. Meaning, meaning old gaskets have been replaced. Points, condenser, spark plug, springs, screws have been replaced if needed and the engine does produce a nice spark. So, it shouldn't take more than a bit of fuel to get it running. As you can see the engine does not show the correct colors. Although they came in various options besides black, but I believe this kind of blue was not one of them. But it is just color. It is an earlier type. Because it still has the crank case breather on the outside. The cap for the breather and the valve inspection cover(although nicely machined) are not correct. The tank is also from a later model briggs. But as with the others I had, an adapted plate has been machined to incorporate the ... morefuel check valve and it appears this is a common practice up and down the land. The tank is clean and dry on the inside. The shroud is not in perfect condition and has 3 holes on top. Possibly for a throttle lever at one point, but that is just a guess. The flywheel is painted red and still has all fins. The attached pulley is about 3" in diameter vs. the more common 2" pulleys. It has the original exhaust elbow. The Briggs decal is one of the great repros which are available. Not a perfect example. But an early WMB and a good start for a youngster or for someone who needs a running engine for a project. Original Briggs & Stratton Gas Engine Model WM WMB PTO, drive pulley
here is a nice. Clean, just sandblasted and primered. drive pulley for the Briggs and Stratton models WM and WMB. It has the correct 1/2" left hand tread. So you turn it counter clockwise to screw it on the flywheel side of the engine to adapt a V-belt which essentially drives whatever you desire.washing machine. Ice cream churn, generator. The pulley diameter is approx. 2 3/8" which corresponds with the Briggs parts manual under# 29743. I've seen(and have) plenty of little Briggs engines. However, it seems just few have these pulleys still installed.

This is an old Briggs and Stratton motor. Horizontal shaft Model WMB. Not frozen and some compression. Last engine I shipped like this cost me $135 to ship it South Carolina. For auction is this 1939 Briggs and Stratton WMB engine. This engine is in running condition and includes the original gas tank as pictured. But due to age is being sold in"as is" condition. The tank does have some rust in the bottom. Serial number on the plate is 70961. All fuel and oil have been removed for shipping. The wooden skids are not included with this sale. Thank you.
