This engine was originally mounted on a“Jacobsen Putting Green Mower” from the 1920’s. This unique old engine is almost complete. Missing only the easily fabricated two piece shroud to direct cooling air over its upright single cylinder. It has excellent compression, rolls over smoothly and the magneto is very hot-trust me and my still tingling palm on that! It comes with a copy of an original parts catalog/operator manual. Due to the heavy weight and the oversized/awkward dimensions of this engine assembly I will strip down the engine to its basic components to ship it(see pictures. Antique Thompson Engineering Co Hit Miss Gas Engine Air Cooled Portable Motor
An Antique Thompson Engineering Co Air Cooled Portable Motor in"as found" condition. We don't know much about this small motor and it it being sold"as is" just as we found it. It has a large flywheel that measures 4 1/2" in diameter with a small notch at the end. Has an overhead valve with a bronze rocker arm. Down below is a roller and cam setup. The roller on the push rod is stuck with old grease. There is a compression release valve on top that works when pressed down. When you turn the engine over you can hear light compression. This motor has a very tiny Champion spark plug just like in the gas powered aircraft motors. The fuel tank is loose and sits on an angle. It has a small painted red knurled brass cap. The side of the motor has an opening where you can see the connecting rod move up and down. It has ... morewhat looks like a car condenser attached to the ignition device. Another small electrical device encased in hard rubber was found near by and came with the motor. The base is aluminum and measures 6" by 4" The motor stands 8" high. The number"045" is cast in the base under the flywheel. Overall. A very interesting little motor. Sort of resembles the very first Briggs& Stratton lawn mower engine only smaller. Old STANDARD Cream Separator Air Cooled Gas Engine Motor Magneto Steam Tractor
This is a nice old air cooled Standard cream separator engine made in Milwaukee. Wisconsin. It turns over nicely and has great compression even though it hasn't run for a few years. It is on the original base and has the original magneto on it which is almost always missing. It doesn't seem to have excessive wear in the main bearings. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of other than one chipped cooling fin and the bottom of the gas tank has been fiber glassed at some point. I have never had gas in it so I don't know if it leaks but I'm sure some sealer would take care of it if it did. The points housing on the magneto has a repair on it that seems to work the way it is. Old GILSON Hit Miss Gas Engine Motor Cooling Fan Air Cooled Steam Tractor Oiler
Here's an item that doesn't come along very often! It's an original cooling fan for an air cooled Gilson hit and miss gas engine. It is in good used condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. It measures about 15 inches in diameter and the drive pulley is about 3 3/8 inches in diameter. It has the original mounting bracket with it along with the original oil cup on the end of the shaft. This cup has an"E" prefix part number. The fan seems to work as it should but it looks like some of the fins could be straightened or adjusted a bit. This should be a pretty easy task and it should be ready to cool an engine! These are often missing on Gilson engines and I can't say that I've ever seen a loose one for sale so if you need one to complete a restoration don't miss your chance on this one. It will ... morelikely be a long time before another one turns up and it probably won't be this nice! It certainly would be easier than making one! GLOBE Very Small Old TANK COOLED GAS ENGINE "Size of a model but a real old one"
Here is a very rare and little Globe engine. This is an original old engine although it is the size of many models. I would estimate it to be about a 1/2hp or 3/4hp engine. It has good compression although you can hear both valves leaking just a little bit. I believe the carb is a reproduction and needs a piece re-soldered. I believe it is a very accurate and functional. It is supposed to be driven by a small round belt from the flywheel hub. I have never tried to run it. This engine is throttle governed. I cannot see any welds or cracks but I suspect the water jacket may have been repaired. It is very smooth looking so I can't say for sure. Here is a very nice old Briggs and Stratton FH. It looks to be in very nice original condition. I bought this engine several years ago and ran it then but I have not tried to run it lately. I imagine the fuel check valve may need cleaned but maybe not. I check it for spark and it is has very good spark. It has excellent compression and turns over fine. RE Phelon engine & gas tank (chainsaw ?) air cooled shroud 2 stroke Tillotson
Used. Has iginition spark and turns over. Carburetor needs to be cleaned and rebuilt. Internal condition of engine is unknown. Gas tank and fuel line have been cleaned and rinsed. I had to search for markings on this engine. All I could fine was R E Phelon Springfield Mass along with a patent number. I do not know what this was used for. It has a pull start(spark plugs sparks. Engine spins freely, there is compression) It is fairly light and weighs just under 19 pound s. the external dimensions are roughly 12" by 10" by 9" please see photos with tape measure for reference) Ask any questions before bidding- no returns. Shipping weight will probably be around 22 pounds.
