Waterloo Boy 2 H.P. Type H Hit and Miss Gas Engine, John Deere Engine
Up for auction here is a 2 horse power Waterloo Boy hit and miss gas engine. This is known as the John Deere built Waterloo Boy and has the JD cast in the block. There are no cracks breaks or welds I can find anywhere on the engine. It is not locked up but I have not had it running. It will need a new fuel line. It has the Wizard magneto. Both the mag and igniter are good. The magneto has been rebuilt by Adrians's Magneto Service out of Lancaster. MN. at a cost of $212.00 I have the receipt for the mag rebuild which will be included. This engine also has a good drip oiler, belt pulley, and will come with a tin crank guard that bolts to the engine block. There are 2 nice brass tags that are very readable. Up for sale is a John Deere Model E 1.5HP Hit Miss Engine. Serial# 331730 I think it is a 1934 or 1935 year vintage. She s tarts great and runs off of the original magneto. It is a older restoration but still looks great with very little use. I just changed the oil in her so she is ready for farm or to be hooked to an ice cream maker. If you have any?s please ask. Here is a link or her running. It includes the nice oak skids but not the cart. Its in fantastic condition for its age. 1944 John Deere Model E 1 ½ HP Hit and Miss Antique Gas Engine
Up for sale is a barn find John Deere hit miss engine. When I got this engine it had a stuck exhaust valve. Took it apart and was surprised how nice the internals were. All springs are in good condition except for the one for the fuel mixture screw. There is an old Crack in casting which doesn't effect the engine. It will need a new gas tank and the mag tested. This would make a good survivor engine or a fun restoration project. There are no visible cracks to the cylinder or water jacket. Located 20 min east of Philadelphia PA. This is a nice JD model E 3hp gas engine on a steel wheeled cart. I am selling the motor for a friend and he said it ran great when it was put into storage a few years ago and shouldn't take much to get it running again. The original gas tank is rusted out and will need a new tank. The guy that I'm selling it for just hooked up a different tank to run it. this is a nice old restoration. I have the ignitor that has a very good repair. the base has a crack in the back(pic 6) only thing that seems to be missing is the pushrod and magneto even if not pictured I have them. otherwise all gears.Piston,rod,bearings all seem to be in good shape. 1 1/2 HP John Deere Hit and Miss Engine on Original Factory Cart
Up for sale is a nice little 1 1/2 HP John Deere hit and miss gas engine. This is a nice complete engine on the original factory cart. The original factory Deere carts are even rarer than the engines! I've sold these carts for $600-$700 before. But this one is in excellent condition and goes with the engine. The serial number is 319964 making it a 1930 model. I don't see any missing or broken pieces on this engine. No repairs that I can see. I also looked and didn't see any freeze cracks. That all being said, this engine is 83 years old and has to be sold as it due to the age. I turned it back and forth a little bit and the engine seems to be nice and smooth and tight(no knocks) but I didn't want to turn it over before the magneto and rocker arm/valves are loosened and oiled. I took this engine out of a shed where it had been ... moresitting for probably 40 years. It is a nice original barn fresh engine that would make an excellent project for someone. It shouldn't take a lot of work to have it up and going. The fuel tank even looks really good from the outside. About the only thing I can see that is worn is the pulley. It has some holes in it from having a belt wrapped around it and being wet, but it shouldn't hurt anything for just being a show piece. You are bidding on a very high quality. Scale model of a 1 1/2hp John Deere E hit& miss engine. The engine is in fantastic shape and is mounted on a nice set of trucks. It has great compression and starts right up and will run all day. This is not an easy to build or simple model in any way. Many hours of work went into making one of these. Every part that the full size engine has, so does this one, including everything inside the crankcase. Even the gas tank is the curved tin, like the originals. It's totally complete, even has the muffler and tin pulley. Like any other model, the magneto obviously isn't functional but the detail on it is just incredible. The flywheels measure 6" The side cover even has the brass serial number tag, just like the real thing. John Deere Letz 220A Burr Mill for a Hit and Miss Engine or Tractor
This is a nice John Deere Letz 220A burr mill. These were made by the Letz Manufacturing Company and sold through John Deere. It still has some good lettering on it. The burr mill works as it should and could be ran with a tractor or a hit and miss engine. Use it at a show to draw a crowd and grind some corn. There are grease zerks to keep the turning shafts greased up good and it has an adjustment knob to control how fine or course you grind. There is also a nice serial tag still on the burr mill. Unrestored Waterloo Boy hit miss ignitor engine John Deere runs good 2 1/2hp
This is an original un-restored Waterloo Boy engine that was found in a collapsed barn in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It likely was belted to a water pump that was found nearby. The cylinder head has had a very nice braze-over of a frost crack from the old days. And there are no leaks. The repair looks like a complete recovery from a well-earned battle scar. Waterloo Boy Gasoline Engine Co. was sold in 1918 and it's assets and designs became the John Deere Co. The engine is bolted to skid timbers that rest in the engine cart frame rails. The engine on skids can easily be slid off the cart to rest on the ground for solid belt work. Or the belt can be tensioned by staking the cart to ground- owners choice, and a nice option. Original 1 1/2hp BRASS TAG JOHN DEERE Type E Hit Miss Gas Engine Steam Magneto
This is a pretty nice original barn fresh 1 1/2hp John Deere Type E hit and miss gas engine. It is the early brass tag version and has the original serial tag and correct side cover on it. It is unmolested as can be seen. It has some original paint on it and I think there's more to be found under the grease. It turns over nicely and the exhaust valve is stuck open. There are no cracks. Breaks, or repairs that I can see or know of except for POSSIBLY a crack in the bottom of the water jacket. It's very hard to tell and it isn't pushed out. It doesn't leak and if in fact it is a crack has probably rusted shut over time. It's very hard to notice. The engine has the factory cast iron belt pulley and muffler on it. The original gas tank looks to be in great shape as well. This should be a pretty straightforward project and ... morewill be a very respectable original engine when it's done. A 1922 John Deere Waterloo Boy 3HP Model H Hit & Miss Old Gas E Engine D B
This relatively late John Deere produced 3 HP Model H Waterloo Boy gasoline engine has a serial number of 228.881. Both of the fragile original brass tags are in very nice original condition. According to the site this engine was built in 1922 with production ending in 1923 when John Deere introduced the Model E 1-1/2. 3 and 6 HP gasoline engines. This engine is stuck and is missing the mixer. Igniter, fuel tank, governor cover, connecting rod guard, intake valve spring and cylinder drip oiler. As is often the case, someone a long time ago substituted a spark plug for the original ignition system. This engine is worthy of a restoration so any help in locating these missing parts would be greatly appreciated. The speed control lever still moves but everything else seems to be seized up. The cylinder head has been frozen and broken and arc ... morewelded with nickel rod. The cylinder water jacket and water hopper appear to be fine with no cracks or welds. The very fragile and often broken original rocker arm is fine. The pivot for the rocker arm is broken but both of the pieces are present. One piece is still bolted to the cylinder head while the outer part is attached to the original rocker arm. I have looked very carefully at both flywheels and am very confident that neither one have any cracks in them anywhere. Someone drilled and tapped a pair of holes in the back of the top of the water hopper to attach a pair of strap iron pieces that may have held a gas tank at one time. These straps also attached to the back of the engine base where the connecting rod cover originally attached. I removed the straps because I am sure they are not original to this engine but they are included if the new owner wants them. This engine still has traces of it's original John Deere paint intact and appears to never have been repainted. If you collect John Deere tractors or engines.
