Old Original 1 1/2hp Hercules Hit Miss Gas Engine Crank Guard Steam Tractor NICE
This is a rather hard to find original cast iron crank guard. Fender, or shield for a 1 1/2hp Hercules hit and miss gas engine. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It mounts to the crankcase of the engine with two bolts 5 inches on center. It has been primed at some time in the past but this could be undone very easily or leave it as it is. It looks like there's a lot of original paint underneath. These original crank guards are pretty tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets as they are usually attached to an engine! This would be a great piece to finish your restoration or just to have on the shelf as a spare. It could be a while until another one turns up so don't miss it. The pictures tell the story. This is a very unusual original sales brochure for Hercules gas engines. It is a foldable pocket brochure that has been unfolded and laminated sometime in the past to protect it from wear. It measures about 7 x 10 1/4 inches and shows the 1 3/4 Style E. F, and G, connected to different kinds of pumps. It also shows the portable tilting table saw outfit as well as the drag saw. The back of it shows the complete list of nationwide repair parts service stations and it also has a list of"dealers who have large stocks of repairs" I have seen lots of interesting and rare original sales literature but have never seen this particular piece. It is in good condition for its age with the exception of the missing piece in the lower right corner which doesn't affect much more than the eye appeal of the piece. This is a real nice original jobber style engine cart or truck for a hit and miss gas engine. I believe it was used under the 1hp Sparta Economy and several others. It would look great under any 1-2hp engine and would certainly make moving it easier. It is in excellent condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind and includes the original pull handle. The wheels measure 8 1/2 inches in diameter with a 2 inch face. Hercules auxillary engine from a 1917 White truck with a Star drilling rig. This engine powered the Star drilling rig belt driven flywheel. This engine was removed from the Star drill frame due to the wood frame erroding badly. This engine is complete and in excellent condition for its age. Running Antique Hercules ZXB Boat/Tractor Gas Engine
Antique 4 cylinder boat engine and transmission. Got this from a local machine shop for a spare for my boat but turns out the casting is a little different so won't bolt into my boat without some changes. They said it ran several years ago when previous owners boat was repowered. When I removed the air cleaner and sprayed a little starting fluid in it coughed when cranked over. Fuel lines. Tank,and filter should to be cleaned before running gas through. Hand crank, no starter or generator. Has a magneto for the spark plugs. Self-contained cooling system, doesn't use river water for cooling. Honeycomb radiator still has antifreeze in it. Stromberg carb on it and probably needs new gaskets but they're really simple to overhaul. Very cool housing for this engine. The only thing missing that I could find is a drain plug on the bottom ... moreof the carburetor. There is an inline fuel filter between the stock filter/bowl and carb that looks to be a newer addition to this engine. This is same engine used in some tractors and military generators. All rust seen is surface rust. If you need extra photos or have questions let me know. Buyer to arrange all shipping. I will build shipping crate for cost of materials and can take to freight terminal for $0.80/mile(one-way mileage not round trip) I can deliver within 150 miles of my house for $0.80/mile. Shipping weight and dimensions are approximate until crate is built. 7-25-13 Put drain plug in carburetor and hooked up external fuel tank to newer inline filter bypassing original tank and filter. Put a little starting fluid to it. Set the choke almost closed and throttle slightly open and cranked it over 3-4 times and it fired right up. No knocking, rattling, leaks, or smoke. Good smooth running engine with 40 psi. Just needs a good cleaning and new paint and it will look great and run great without any major work. Magneto ground switch is broken and will need replacing and it's a simple toggle switch next to the oil pressure gauge.

Economy or Hercules engine, hit miss or throttle governed
This engine is in great shape. I got it from my father-in-law. He had the head rebuilt and no one has tried to start it since. I believe that the magneto sparks. I think it will run without much effort but cannot quarentee it. The gas tank is up under the engine, it has a nice oiler and magneto. Please look at the pictures. I do not know much about these but I will answer any questions that i'm able to. For pickup only, I can store it until spring if it is paid for.

You are bidding on a very nice. Farm fresh 1 1/2hp Hercules engine. All that you are bidding on is a good crank and flywheels, very nice block, good gas tank, a cam gear, and a flat belt pulley. The engine has very nice original paint. Pulley has a very small chip, as shown in pictures, and timing gear has one tooth missing. Gas tank looks very good. Cylinder bore is perfect, NO issues. The bore has no ridges, scoring, or anything, ready to use. I can bolt this engine to a pallet and deliver to Fastenal for shipping. Shipping should run $125-$175 I would say. I can also deliver this to Portland, IN spring swap, or Coolspring, PA show in June for $20. You can also pick it up here, we are 100 miles north of Detroit. I've been collecting,repairing,buying and selling one cylinder engines for about 30 years,long enough to be able to know that,nice original, unmolested,engines are getting harder to find.
