I weighed the three pieces that make a complete ... morerod(handle piece. Middle piece, end piece) on my postal scale, it weighs 5.2 ounces. Each piece is 35 inches long. Near the handle there are two rubber stamps on the rod, one says"Granger Victory" the other says"Wright& McGill" The metal reel holder part of the handle says"Made by Wright& McGill Rod Co Denver Colo USA" it also has two patent dates- Pat Apr 12 1938" and"Pat No 2114107. The aluminum tube says"CHAMIPON" MFD by CAL-AIR Products Los Angles" Inside the screw on cover there is stamped" CAL-AIR Products Co Los Angles" This rod is from the estate of a relative who died a long time ago. It has sat unused for decades. I don't know anything about fly fishing. I have tried to describe the rod carefully, I see no damage, no wear, no stains, etc. There is some oxidation on the silver metal, not rust, and there is some darkening of the cork handle from holding it, othewise to me it looks absolutely like new. This rod has been what I call preserved, with the nice aged look of the original silks under the original varnish. All varnish was carefully scraped off the bamboo, however, retained over all the original silks to give the look of an original aged rod, while getting 2 fresh dips in varnish to ensure it is water tight. One snake guide at the bottom of the mid was replaced and rewrapped with new silk, however, tastefully matched against the original silk look. There is one scratch on the reel seat and one tip is down 2.5 inches(pictured) Includes original cloth sack in perfect condition, and the original aluminum tube in very very good condition, with a decent label, you don't see many tubes in this good of shape. The rod casts a 6 weight DT modern fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length(except the one tip) straight as an arrow, reel seat functions well, ferrules are great and pop with no clicking during casting. If you want a Granger to fish this is it. All the wraps look great and are an original aged wrap. The cork looks good, though suffers from some soiling and use over time, it could be cleaned if that is the look you want, varnish looks great. Completely restored and preserved. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. This rod. For those that don't know is positioned as an upper mid-grade rod and used bamboo that was not quite good enough for the Registered and Deluxe but better than the Special, and way better than the Victory or Champion. The 9" length in my opinion is great for the fisherman out there, rather than the collectors. Let the collectors keep paying way to much for the shorter rods that don't have the length to high stick or mend the way a fisherman needs to catch fish. The shorter rods, may cast a little better, but I would be willing to bet these longer rods catch more fish, since

Comes with two tip sections, a polished chrome rod tube& rod sock(neither are original to the rod) This rod casts like a dream(as all good Grangers do) is made for a 7 or 8 weight fly line. Only two minor issues: 1) the reel seat is slightly dented where the reel foot presses against it. But this in no way affects the functionality of the reel seat, and is not visible when the reel is attached; and 2) the butt-to-mid section ferrules are a little loose. The other ferrules fit snugly. All sections are full length(36.5 inches) straight, except for one of the tip sections that is 1/2 inch shorter(36 inches) If you are looking for a sweet-casting. Vintage Goodwin Granger Aristocrat 9' Fly Rod With Original Metal Tube
Up for auction is a Vintage Goodwin Granger Aristocrat 9' fly rod with original metal storage tube. The handle is marked: PAT APR.12.1938. PAT.NO.2.114.107, MADE BY GOODWIN GRANGER COMPANY DENVER. Cork handle does have some damage as shown in the images. The rod sections, eyes, and wrappings are all in very good condition. No cracks, bends, or other damage is visible. The auction includes four sections of fly rod. Canvas carry case, and metal storage tube. The metal tube has paint missing, and handling marks. There are no large or deep dents in the tube. The tube has the original Granger label listing the rod as being 9' and what appears to be 8 3/4" oz weight. Thanks for looking and good luck!

Vintage Wright McGill Granger Special Bamboo Fly Rod 9' 3 piece 2 tips 9050 NR
NO RESERVE AUCTION with Buy it Now Wright McGill Granger Special 9 foot 3 piece with 2 tips. All pieces equal length. This rod is in fantastic near mint condition. I have fished this rod and it is a 6 to 7 weight rod. I hate to sell it. But I have too many. I recently had the ferrules on the mid section re-glued and professionally re-wrapped. He did a great job matching up the thread and varnish. You can tell there is a slight gloss over the new wraps, but that can be dulled with a little steel wool if you like. Look at the pictures of the ferrules and see if you can tell. Otherwise, this rod is ready to fish everything is tight and like new in original condition. I hated to have the ferrules reglued because we had to cut the original wraps, but I wanted this rod to be fished, and i wanted to fish it. The tube has a dent in it and some scuffs ... morebut really a nice little aluminum tube. This is the real deal. If you want a nice collectable Granger that you can fish and not have to do anything to, this is the rod. Reel and fish not included in the one picture above. I am an honest seller. And my goal is to put these rods and reels back on the rivers and streams to be used rather than collect dust. I try to find good quality product and take high quality photos to let the buyer know what they are getting. I also try as best I can to let you know everything I know about the rod. Vintage Granger Champion 8'6" Bamboo Fly Rod With Tube & Cloth Case
Vintage Granger Champion bamboo fly rod. This rod is 8 foot 6 inches. It is three parts and each part is in good shape with no breaks. It also comes with a cloth bag to store it in and a shipping tube. The Granger Champion is wood burned on the rod on one side and on the other side it looks like the initials HJ. Vintage GRANGER VICTORY BAMBOO FLY ROD FISHING POLE. This includes the rod. the canvas bag and the tube. This has the 4 pieces of the fly rod(the one piece is broken and tied together. See pictures) It is 9ft long. The label is mostly still there on the tube that stores the rod. There is a canvas( cover to put all the pieces individually in. The cork handle has patina, this fly rod has been used. It appears to me to be in very good condition except for one section is broken. There appears to be 2 tips, the longer one is broken. Vintage Goodwin Granger Victory Pre WWII 8' Fly Rod in Original Condition
First let me state that I am an avid fly fisherman. However. I am not an expert on vintage split bamboo rods, The rod is a Goodwin Granger Victory 3/2 in the desirable 8' length. It has a reverse half wells cork grip w/ a nickle silver up-locking reel seat patent pending. The silk threads are orange and black with black tipping. All sections are of the same length and are straight. I do not see any breaks and in my opinion the rod has never been repaired or refinished. The cloth and metal tube fit but may not be original to the rod. Please view the numerous pictures I posted as to the condition and I will reply as best I can to any questions you may have. I am starting the bidding at $100 with no reserve and no re-listing. If this rod does not sell, I will throw a 4 or 5 wt on it and fish with it next Spring.

Vintage Wright McGill Granger Aristocrat Bamboo 8'-6" Fly Fishing Rod Pat 1938
This is a very nice vintage Wright McGill Granger Aristocrat bamboo fly rod. Made in Denver under a 1938 patent. It looks lightly used. There are a couple of small nicks to the finish but there are no signs of misuse or abuse. With an extra tip, each section is 34.5" long thus 8'6" Works well with a 4wt or 5wt set-up. The ferrules are tight fitting. They will likely need a cleaning if you intend to use this bamboo rod on the water. The grip looks to have been sanded at some point. The pieces are straight and it appears well cared for. I have a cloth bag and aluminum tube as well. The tube is a good 10" longer than the rod sections so I'm not sure if it is original. Fully marked, it is offered here with a reasonable, convenient buy-it-now price. Free shipping.

I am selling a vintage split bamboo fly rod. On the reel seat it is stamped"Made by Goodwin Granger& Co Denver" And"Denver Special" A green"fish" decal forward of the cork handle says, Del Rell St. Paul, Minnesota" Also, just forward of the cork handle is written"Al Mudrick 842 Univ. Ave. St. Paul, Minn" Near there in the same writing are the initials"R.J. There are four(4) parts to the rod: the main reel part, which measures 38 1/2" the center part which measures 24 1/2" one tip that measures 32" and one tip that measures 35" They are all in the original cloth bag, which is in the original aluminum tube with brass ends(the tube has some storage marks) The sliding ring and reel seat appear to be nickel and silver. I don't know much about fly rods, but my research ... moreindicates that it was made in the 1920's. All parts of the rod are in excellent condition, and I can only find a few very small marks. The eyes and windings appear to be in perfect condition. To me, the rod does not appear to have been used, but if it has.very little. It is a beautiful vintage rod. Vintage Granger Favorite Bamboo Fly Rod with two tips. Cloth bag and tube. This rod has been fished and is in good condition for refurbishing or restore. The cork handle was cleaned with Dawn soap and cold h2o. to clean the dirt from fishing use. The Bamboo is sound and straight- no warping. The Ferrules, Line Guides and wrappings are original with no apparent repair. One Ferrule is lose as stated above. The Rod has a fly guide holder. The cork is damaged from hook placement near the reel seat. The cloth bag has 2 small tears from ferrule rubbing. The metal rod seat has a small dent that doesn't affect the use of the rod seat. One short tip appears to be a replacement from another rod as the guides do not line up with the other tip. Granger Favorite is written in black ink on the bamboo near the hook guide. Vintage Wright & McGill Granger Aristocrat Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod Broken Tips?
Here is a nice Granger Aristocrat Bamboo Fly Rod that is in excellent condition. This is a 3 piece that measures 8'3" in length and has an extra tip. One of the tips has a slight bow and the other is straight. The ferules. Guides and wraps are perfect. The original finish is in excellent condition. The original canvas bag and an aluminum tube are included. The tube is unmarked and has a solid machined and threaded cap. The fly rod is being sold as-is, as-pictured so please ask all questions before bidding. A watcher indicated that one of the tips or possibly both tips could be broken based on the lengths of each piece. The handle and middle section measure 34.5" each. Offered for your consideration with a low starting bid and NO RESERVE is this Vintage Challenger Bamboo Fly Rod by Granger Wright& McGill Information ink stamped on butt section says: Challenger” Please inspect ALL of the photos furnished. For those of you who are not aware. Challenger rods were completely hand made in the same Denver, Colorado factory as the famous Grangers and Wright& McGills. Yes. the same patented ammonia treated rich caramel colored 3x3 node spacing cane. This is a wonderful piece of Handcrafted American bamboo at a fraction of the cost. Rod comes with 3 sections. Please note this rod is extremely straight when assembled plus ALL of the sections are correct and equal length with NO signs of damage to any cane sections. Overall the varnish is in very nice condition, having a few minor flaws. Silk thread wraps ... moreare complete, tight and appear to be well varnish to seal out moisture. Comes with a divided 3 pocket cloth rod sock which is in nice condition. NO holes in the material but is showing wear marks and stains from years in the tube. Ferrules fit snug and secure having a very nice audible“POP” when broke-down. Cork grip is in extremely nice condition show off is patina from years of service. Reel seat mechanism works wonderful, securing the reel as it should. Also furnished is an aluminum tube and screw cap. Tube and cap have some scratches. Dings and dents but secures the rod safely. VINTAGE GRANGER ARISTOCRAT 9 FOOT 6 INCH 3/2 BAMBOO FLY ROD
This is a vintage Granger Aristocrat 9 foot 6 inch 3/2 bamboo fly rod made by Wright& McGill. Denver, Co. I believe it is number 9660. This rod is in very good condition. Two guide wraps are loose, one on a tip and one on the fore section of the mid section. Probably by taking it apart. All the rest of the guides and wraps are in excellent condition. All sections of the rod are 38 1/2 inches, original length and no repairs. All sections are straight with no warps and a bright finish. A few very minor chips or blemishes. The sections fit tight and all ferrules are sound, pop when you take them apart with no cracking or corrosion. Comes with original tube and sock.

This pole is from the fishing collection of rods. Reels and lures that I have been selling off for the last couple of months. This week I will be listing the remaining contents of that collection. This auction is for a vintage wood Wright& McGill Granger Favorite 3 piece 9 foot Fly Rod with the storage sleeve and tube. This pole is in excellent condition other than an eye is missing in the middle section. The finish is in just as great of condition. The pictures are do not do this justice. The patina is just awesome and would make a great display piece. The cloth sleeve is in good condition with just a rip in the flap that folds over and covers the top. The metal tube is in great condition as well but the screw stopper is missing for the top. I found this group of bamboo fly rods at an estate sale in a corner all bundled together-there are about 20 pieces in all-the only one I could find marked was a Goodwin Granger Pat. 1938 Denver Colorado. Thjis rod had 3 pieces tied together but the tip piece is a lot lighter in color than the other 2 so I don't know. The vintage pole is a 3 piece with one extra tip piece.The cork handle piece is in good condition but the bamboo part has splintered, the middle piece also has a section that has splintered and has no eye holes, the two end tips show signs of wear and one is missing the metal piece to slide into the middle section, most of the bamboo pieces have marks, dings and other types of wear and tear. Vintage Wright McGill Granger Special 9' 3/2 Bamboo Cane Fly Rod
Classic vintage Granger Special Fly Rod by Wright and McGill in original bag and labeled tube. This is the Model 9050. Nine feet long, 3-piece, with two tips, weighing 5 ounces, and compatible with a modern DT-6F line. All sections straight and full length. I doubt this one was ever fished, as it still has the cellophane wrap on its cork grip. Almost as new, except for a little tarnish on the patent Granger reel seat(should clean easily) and a couple of miniscule(I mean almost microscopic! bag marks. Lime green wraps. The cellophane wrapper is yellowed and a couple of small pieces have flaked off, and the label on the outside of the tube is worn, otherwise this might have been made yesterday. I hate to let this one go! Granger was one of the best mass-produced rods of the cane era, and this one is about as good as they get. This is a beautiful. Fine old 9-foot Granger Victory 4-piece bamboo fly rod. Marked with 1938 patent date. And Made by Goodwin Granger Company, Denver on the shiny metal reel seat. This nice old bamboo rod has straight. Full length sections, and appears to have been hardly used. The cork handle is clean and nice. No chips, you can see the rod has been used extremely little, if at all. The bamboo is in fine shape. No splits, no cracks. All ferrules, eyelets, and wraps are intact, and look very nice. Wright& McGill"Granger Victory" vintage bamboo fly rod. 3-piece. Overall length 9' Includes(2) tip pieces; weight of complete rod is 5.8 oz, and 1 additional tip weight is 0.6 oz. Note that the rod blank section between the male ferrule and first guide on both rod tips appears to be split; just perceptible on one(see picture) on the other becomes apparent when the rod is stressed. This would need to be restored were these to be fished with. Up-locking nickel silver reel seat, black and orange silk wraps. Very slight oxidation on a couple of the guides. Most of the wraps look very good; to my eye, only(2) wrappings show slight loosening or missing threads. Cork grip in very good condition; varnish in reasonably good condition, given original condition of the rod, but some scuffs are apparent from normal wear. Vintage 1930s Granger Champion Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod Model GC9050 Nice Shape
You are bidding on a Vintage 1930s Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod with Original Labeled Cardboard Tube Holder and threaded end cap. It is a Granger Champion Model GC9050. Original label is marked 9 Feet and 5 Ounces. There are Four Pieces to the rod which I believe two are tips or rod ends. I showed this to a dealer who specializes in hunting and fishing and he gave this the thumbs up as a nice clean original rig. He noted the only detraction is that two of the bent wire line guides are missing from the middle or second piece. I have showed this in the photos. I think it may be the maker. it is not a wright McGill but does resemble the granger favorite I have in another listing. it also has an aluminum metal canister and cloth wrap for the rod. Vintage Goodwin Granger 9852 Split Bamboo 3 wt Fly Rod
Vintage Goodwin Granger Denver. Colorado split bamboo fly rod. 9"6" in length, in very good overall condition. Has two tip sections, one working and one of which needs repair. The tip needing repair has a repairable crush(see photo) about 4" from the tip that can be repaired by"reweaving" the bamboo and replacing a missing guide. The other tip is in working order and the rest of the rod is sound. The varnish is generally good, not worn off. Markings say"PAT April 12, 1938 Made by Goodwin Granger Company Denver" The butt section Ferrule measures 18/64" and the other ferrules are 12/64" so this is probability the 9652 Goodwin Granger rod, which is the lightest of the their 9 1/2 ft models. Vintage 1938 Granger Victory Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod. 4-Piece, 2-Tips, 8 1/2 Foot, Plus Tube. This Vintage Fly Rod was recently acquired at the estate sale of a keen fisherman. The set includes the 4 piece rod plus cloth bag and aluminum tube with screw top. The rod sections measure 34 3/4" 34 1/2" 34 1/2" and 34 1/4" respectively. The aluminum tube measures 52 3/8" The rod has the following details printed on the metal: PAT APR 12 1938 PAT NO. 2414.107 MADE BY GOODWIN GRANGER COMPANY DENVER" The rod is in good condition. There is some minor wear to the handle(See photos) The eyes are all firm. The previous owner replaced one of the tips at some time. Information clearly ink stamped on butt section says: Wright& McGill” GrangerVictory” Stamping on reel seat says: MADE BY WRIGHT& McGILL ROD CO. DENVER. COLO. USA Rod comes with all 4 sections. Also furnished is a cloth rod sack with hang tag loop and aluminum tube. Screw cap and label. Please read carefully. I will try to describe the condition. Rod is very straight when together. It is very solid and fishable, I used this rod on a few occasions last season, and must say it preformed wonderful. All of the ferrules have the correct signature witness marks and a distinct audible“POP” when breaking down. The cane on all four pieces are in very nice shape. All 4 sections are correct ... moreand equal length. The reel seat has a few very minute flaws. Reel seat mechanism is very smooth and secures the reel as intended. All thread wraps are tight and very well varnished. Cork handle is in exceptional condition. Vintage Goodwin Granger Bamboo Fly Rod - 2 tips - Tough shape
Up for bid is a vintage bamboo Goodwin Granger fly rod. There are 4 pcs. There is no Rod sock or tube included. The butt section is in good shape with all wrappings present. At the ferrel the wrap is split. Ferrel has a slight crack in it. It is solid however on the blank. Measures 34 5/8" long. Coke bottle cork grip is perfect. Reel seat is tight with some oxidation in areas. The mid section measures 33 1/2" All the guides are intact and wraps are tight. Re-wrapped at top ferrel. Top ferrel isn't correct. First tip section measures 34 1/2" all guides/wraps are tight. This tip doesn't fit into ferrel of mid section. The second tip measures 33 1/8" lowest guide has a poor re-wrap. All others are tight. This tip fits into mid sections ferrel, although ferrel isn't correct. Overall the finish is good with some ... morechips, scratches, ect. through out. E.C. Powell Wright Mcgill Granger Aristocrat bamboo fly rod lot parts vintage
Here we have to vintage antique bamboo fly rods one. An E.C. Powell patented 3 piece rod with an agate stripping guide and all original hardware and at what appear to be original lengths with an additional tip that fits snuggly but i cant tell if its original. The second rod is an Granger Aristocrat by Wright Mcgill, it is missing a couple line guides but otherwise is complete. I cannot tell if the tip on this rod is original. Although the Powell is technically"fishable" this lot is being sold for parts or repair due to state of repairs needed.
