1950s MONTAGUE DREADNOUGHT Genuine Tonkin Bamboo Saltwater FISHING ROD ~2pc 6ft
This is a Vintage 1950s MONTAGUE"DREADNOUGHT" Genuine Tonkin Split Bamboo Saltwater FISHING ROD. It is in Good condition. It is a 2 piece rod. And measures 6 feet long when assembled. Comes with the original cloth bag. It has Lathe Turned Wooden handle grips. ALL the line guides and wraps are still in Good shape. There is some minor salt pitting on some of the chrome parts(mostly the reel seat and the connecting ferrules.Still, A Nice one to add to a collection! Check pictures Below for condition details. Nice 7ft Tonka Prince 2pc bamboo fly rod
Rescued from the dust bin. This HI Tonka prince 7' 2pc has been competely rebuilt. Its saving grace was the beautiful flamed cane that was still perfect. The decal and Tonka Prince inked name were miraculously intact. Now preserved. These rods in good original condition usually sell for 150- 200 bucks. In rebuilding this rod, I gave it the same care I put into a custom rod. Only the best available parts were used. It had a busted reel seat, crumbling cork, missing guides, broken wraps and a cracked ferrule. A real mess. It has a new aluminum reel seat( to keep the cost within reason) premium cork grip, CSE step down ferrule, Snake brand guides/tip top and Strubel agate stripper. The new silk wraps are the original factory color. Three coats of Man-a-War spar varnish hand rubbed to a beautiful sheen, the flamed cane really catches the ... moreeye. The cane is in excellent shape, butt section is 42" and top measures 42 3/4" I believe it is worth the extra few dollars, it has gone from a production rod to a high quality rebuild and will last for many more years. The action is medium fast, a double taper 5wt will fit it nicely. Comes with a new bag. This would make a nice starter rod. Thanks for looking.

It's slightly over 7' due to the handle being replaced, and also has one unoriginal guide. The ferrule appears to fit snug, but as I said, I'm no expert. Goodwin Granger Aristocrat 7' 2pc. 2tip. 3wt. Bamboo fly rod
Here is a Goodwin Granger 7ft. two piece. Two tip bamboo fly rod. Has the hammer or eliptical shaped handle that shows some very minor ridging in the cork. Reel seat is clean and works fine, chrome plated. This rod appears to have been recoated with varnish in its past but was done well. There are a few minor imperfections as can be seen in the finish, where the new coat of varnish covered an imperfection especially over the original wraps. It comes with the original cardboard tube and partial label. Serial number GA7030. The cane is in great shape and is ready to fish. The ferrules fit snug and make a pop when pulled apart. The cigar shaped cork grip does show the beginning signs of ridging, but is structurally in very good condition. The reel seat is walnut with downlocking mechanism. The rod sock has a very small hole worn in the bottom where the rod has poked through, and can be very easily sewn closed. The ferrules fit very snug, and make a strong pop noise when pulled apart. post war NFT SPLIT BAMBOO SPINNING ROD 2pc 6'6" - PRISTINE - HARD 2 FIND
This is one of those post war Japanese bamboo rods that were quite popular back in the late 40's and 50's that the soldiers brought home as a prize possession or gift. What's unusual is that there were not too many of the spinning rods made as you always see either combo spin fly or fly rods now days. This is a 6'6" 2 piece bamboo spinning rod made by NFT Japan and is in pristine condition. First of all. The wraps are solid and metal[ eyelets, reel seat, ferrules] surfaces are pristine. The rod POP'S when pulling it apart, the cork handle is free of digs, and it looks as if the finish on the rod is original. And the best for last, it's straight as an arrow. The only issue I could see anyone raising is that in several areas of the rod length there is a minute area of finish either beginning to wear off or that ... morethey could be rub marks. Here is a newly built 2pc fly rod. This was built using vintage cane from a US made fly rod. New cork grip. Reel seat, snake guides and ferrules. This rod may have some of its original character, some twist, set or guide foot staining(variations present depending on the individual rod)but make no mistake, it's ready to fish your favorite water. This will make a great small stream rod. The rod weighs about 3 oz and should cast a 8 wt line. This rod is just under 6 ft long(70" assembled. This is a 9' two piece E. C. Powell Bamboo fly fishing rod. Lots if info on the web regarding these poles. My research indicates that this is a semi-hollow bamboo pole. With a"B" taper. I'm told the 2piece rod is a better rod. Though longer to transport. It has more build quality because of the longer bamboo sections and less metal joints. Everything shines. It looks like it's never been used. Silk threading looks perfect. This is a 2 pc. 2tip 6ft.Heddon swelled-butt casting rod; all sections are the same length. And the cane is in good condition(though one tip has a repair wrap-see photos) and the cork is in remarkably good condition for its age. This rod will display beautifully, or catch bass till the cows come home. The six inches of cane surrounding the repair wrap has been over-varnished, and the over-varnish is poorly done, but you can remove it with denatured alcohol and re-varnish without having to re-wrap, if you wish. The original wraps, varnish, and agate guides are all in good condition- and if you wanted to remove and resell the agate guides, you could probably get more than my minimum bid for them. For Auction: A vintage Scottish split bamboo fly rod. Manufactured by AUGER, the model is"The Talt" after Lake or"Lough Talt" I believe) This rod is a 2 piece rod, 2 sections, 5 foot each in length, assembled it is a 10 foot rod. I believe this rod to be from the 1930- 1940 era of British rods. It is constructed and wrapped very much like many Hardy rods of the period. The bag is original. The rod is completely original. No breakage whatsoever, all original"whippings" wraps) of original silk and with no alterations. The reel seat is chrome, aluminum, with threads on the end of the butt for a fighting butt. The ferrule is beautiful nickel silver and blued. The reel seat is an up-locking seat, clean and in good, fully usable condition. The cork is perfect. The stripping guide and tip-top are identical true agate. ... moreThe only treatment given to this rod is a very light coat of Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil Gunstock Finish to preserve the wraps and enhance the rod's finish. This is a used rod. A portion of the Auger label is worn off. Wear on some of the guide and ferrule wraps is evident in the pictures. However. The Tru-Oil finish has stabilized the guide wraps very well. I decided to leave the original wraps as is and not replace them. It remains a fine vintage rod. I fished this 10 foot rod with an 8DT line on the West Branch of the Delaware last season. It performed beautifully with a long. Smooth cast. The bamboo or cane is in excellent condition with a medium action taper. I have enjoyed this rod and the next owner will have excellent performance with this rod. Vintage Heddon Bamboo Fly Rod #115 9' 3/2pc Turner Bros Delight #1tube/sock
This is a very nice condition used late 1930's or early 1940's vintage Heddon Bamboo flyrod- 9'2 1/2F-HCH or D rating(6-7wt) 3pc rod with 2 tips in perfect straight shape and great condition. It has the diagonal script Heddon label. But no model numbers. The 2 rod tips are in excellent original and straight condition and have been stored in the wooden grooved rack over the years. The butt section and the second second are original bamboo ferrules and black tipping on windings, but have old stock Heddon replacement snake guides and a red agitane stripping guide from a donor rod from the era, as well as old silk gold orange windings. As you can see in the pictures, the original cork grip and reel seat were damaged beyond repair meticulously replaced with a high quality full wells grip trimmed in Heddon style, and a burl wood and ... moresilver chrome high quality reel seat. All sections are equal length and all ferrules join together and come apart with pop, so to speak. I believe this rod was near the top of Heddon bamboo line in the day. And should cast nicely with a 5 or 6 wt line. This is a late 1930's or early 1940's model. evidenced by the gold silk windings with black tipping of the Heddon Premier and Experts of the day, The six sided bamboo blank is in perfect shape with excellent spar varnish finish blank looks great, with all guides, ferrules, hook keeper tied with gold and black tipped silk windings and black snake guides, and tip top and ferrules. Finish on the rod is shiny and like new. Clearly, this rod was well restored and cared for and occasionally fished. It comes with a period correct canvas rod sock with nominal rips at the top, and an excellent condition barely scratched Turner Bros#1 Delight rod tube with screw cap, adding another dimension of interest to this 60+ year old rod. I'll admit I have not cast this rod yet since I could not mount a reel on the old setup before restoration. But it will look great when paired with an older Pflueger black reel(not included)It's read

R L Winston San Francisco Bamboo Rod 6' 9" Beautiful with Agate Guides 2Pc.
A very beautiful vintage Winston San Francisco bamboo fishing rod that I have had hanging in den for 40+ years from a old friend. I have no knowledge of rods so ask for added pictures or questions. It is 81" long put together with the first section being 48 3/4" long and the second 33 1/2" and it weighs 10.5 ounces. The cork handle is 16" long from butt to the bottom of the small cork, it has 3 red agate eyes including the tip and one silver loop. I have never tried cleaning it due to once trying I rubbed some of the name off. The cork is like new with only one small nick at top of main handle, the second agate guide has newer thread to keep it attached, the silver butt plate has some tarnish near the cork that i'am 100% sure would clean off if you choose. Vintage South Bend Bamboo Fly Rod #59-9 9' 3/2pc with Original Sack
This Vintage South Bend#59-9 bamboo fly rod is a 9' 3 piece two tip flared from the late 1940s or early 1950s that has been completely restored. I believe. According to discussions on classic fly rod boards, that this a 6-7wt rod. The rod and the two tips are completely straight and beautifully colored, and all are equal and original length. Three coats of spar varnish were applied. The rod has the original yellow orange and chrome reel seat which works great, and easily adjusts to the real. It has the original winding guide, and all original ferrules that are solidly in place and tight. It has a fully intact South Bend label and#59-9 script model number as can be seen in the pictures. The stripping guide has been replaced with a period correct red agatine guide that may be original. All snake guides have been replaced with slightly larger ... moreblack snake guides that allow for modern fly lines. All windings have been re-done in dark green creating a spectacular look. The original damaged cork grid has been replaced with a high quality full wells grip that looks and feels great in hand. What appears to be the original South Bend four pocket rod sock with ties and a correct but unreadable label is also included. I will provide a plastic rod tube for protection as the original cardboard one was not available. When acquired. The original grooved South Bend grip was seriously damaged and removed. All original snake guides were missing or hanging from a thread or two. The rod is now ready to be fished or displayed in your collection. It is solid and has a strong backbone that seems like it would be ideally suited for large trout, steelhead, salmon or bass.
