This listing is for a vintage JC Higgins pistol grip fishing rod handle. This is a neat vintage fishing item and it would be great for a collector to display an old reel on. The handle is used and has some wear(see photos) There's a small space between the metal frame and the handle detail area and the left side black part has a very small hole. All in all. Vintage J.C. Higgins FISHING ROD-4 1/2 Feet-Fiberglass- Burgundy Pistol Grip Up for bids is J.C. Higgins(Sears Roebuck Co. 4 1/2 foot long fishing rod. Each plastic handle has the J.C. Higgins name on it in raised lettering. The rod appears to be a one piece. Some the pistol grips can be removed from these J.C. Higgins rods but this model does not seem to come apart to me. The fiberglass is a very light green color. Issues: 1. The wrapping on one line guide is has some missing threading. 2. The burgundy nose piece has a small ding in it. I've provided a photograph showing the ding.an ink pen is pointing to it) 3. Some of the aluminum in the handle shows some minor corrosion. This would make a great rod for a collection or to use. Vintage J.C. Higgins Pistol Grip 5 foot. Solid, clear glass casting rod and a Pflueger Summit 1993L casting reel with engraved side plates. The handle by itself measures 10 inches long. The pistol grips are bakelite as is the knob at the top of the handle. Both grips are marked J.C. Higgins and Pistol Grip. The rod has all of it's eyelets and is straight. The cloth bag still has part of the tag which has J.C. Higgins and the number 3022(model number? The rod and handle are in nice condition. Vintage J.C. Higgins Steel Fishing Rod With Pistol Grip Handle and Higgins Reel
Up for auction is This vintage J.C. Higgins steel fishing rod with a J.C. Higgins reel. It measures 51-1/2 inches long overall including the handle. The handle by itself measures 10 inches long. The pistol grips are bakelite as is the knob at the top of the handle. Both grips are marked J.C. Higgins model 30-62. The rod has all of it's eyelets and is straight.which has J.C. the Reel is marked J.C. Higgins 311. 31/3 The Higgins rod and reel are in nice condition. It has been stored& in good used condition. But does need a cleaning. fresh out of Dads downsizing box. Neat old fishing rod. Ask any questions. J C Higgins Pistol Grip Ice Fishing Rod GlassCaster STUB CASTER Pfleuger Reel
Vintage J.C. Higgins Pistol Grip Ice Fishing or Trolling Rod. I think most of these were made by Waltco. And sold as a Glasscaster or Stub Caster, this one is not marked as such but was probably made for Sears back in the day. This on is paired nicely with a Pflueger Skilkast reel Model 1953. The rods pistol grip handle is made from aluminum with bakelite plastic grips(both slightly loose from age and shrinkage) The fore grip is also matching dark maroon plastic bakelite. The rod is steel with one eye at the end. Embossed on each grip is"J C Higgins Pistol Grip" Both pieces are in very nice vintage condition with light tarnish and scratches on the aluminum from age and use. The reel works nicely. So smooth, very little boat rash and clicker works. Most(90% of the discoloration on the reel is from the camera flash, side plates are ... morestill nicely chromed. Top thumb bar shows it's ware. I didn't realize how smooth winding an old Skilkast could be, it almost spins as free as an old Kentucky reel. The rod measures approx. 23" from tip to end of handle. Here is a vintage(antique) J C Higgins fiberglass one piece fishing rod with a neat pistol grip handle. I believe all the guides are there although some could stand to be rewrapped as shown in the pictures. Rod is complete with reel hold down assembly. Measures about 3'6" in overall length. I'm not sure how rare this is but I haven't seen a single piece Higgins rod this short. I ship these out in a heavy duty cardboard tube so the weight may seem high- this is due to the added weight of the tube. Please ask any questions you may have& I will try to answer them.
