The label on the handle is mostly gone. There are a few cracks in the cork handle but no missing cork pieces.The reel seat lock nut urns freely. The bag is free of any rips or tears but has normal age related dirt and darkening. I don't know if it is the original bag for the rod; it is unmarked.

Old bamboo 9' rod with extra tip. Both tip sections are the same length. Varnish is worn in places. Rod has"tunnel" guides with red wraps, there are red and black wraps in-between the guides. Cork handle with reel seat above it. I can't find any maker markings on the rod. Comes with a"rod holder" that is ~37 3/4" long, covered with worn green cloth& has"channels" or grooves that the rod sections fit in, it's ends are rusted or tarnished metal. The rod is in very good to excellent condition with original. Tight metal ferrules, original line guides and wrappings, a cork handle that is intact and a metal rod seat engraved with“Made by Wright McGill Rod Co. Up for auction is a Wright and Mcgill split bamboo fly rod. This is a 3 piece. 9' rod with extra tip and includes the original bag and tube. The rod is in excellent condition, all sections are whole, guides are all in place, windings and varnish is in good shape, ferrules are nice and tight. Although it is chipped and a remains of a word that ends in m or n up the rod from the decal on one side. The other rods handle is unmarked. This is a Vintage Split Bamboo Fly or Bait casting fishing rod. Rod has three sections with each from top measuring: 34 1/4' 31 1/4" and 34 1/4" Now,unless a rod has a name, especially these very old bamboo rods,I know very little! I am listing and doing best I can to give buyers the most information as well as photo's I can. Ok,this rod has nine eyelets including the tip which is different than most I see. In fact I am thinking this is a bait casting salt water rod when I look at handle and tip? All eyes look the same as well as the wrappings. no eyelets are missing that I can tell. Tip section of rod looks darker than the other sections,not sure this is common? Handle is wood I believe. I can not find a name anywhere on the fishing rod,handle or butt! Hi and thanks for looking. Up for sale today is this Vintage Split Cane/Bamboo Rod. 3 pcs. It is about 10' when assembled. Fittings are somewhat tarnished but still in good shape and they fit together well. The rod has one obvious split(one side only)see last pic; split is a little south of center, and there are the beginnings of other minor cracks throughout(see 4th pic, middle rod section-looks like a big crack but that is a super macro picture-the crack is very fine) The rest of the rod looks pretty good(I am NOT an expert-just reporting what I see) it is dirty in spots and there are no'eyes' although there is line, sinker and an"old" fish hook attached. vintage 3 pc SPLIT BAMBOO fly fishing rod 10 ft long in aluminum tube case NICE
split bamboo rod I am offering a nice split bamboo fly rod in cloth sleeve and aluminum tube carrier. This is actually a 3 piece unit with an extra end included. The extra is minus the end eyelet. I put this together loosely to get an idea of the length. And it appears between 9-10 feet in length. It was over the guttering over my garage. Looks to be in good condition. I see a bit of discoloration rub of part of the cork, but other than that it sure looks like a good one to me. Cork is still in good shape otherwise as you can see and everything looks as it should be. The case shows typical wear and it appears the word CAST printed in red on it- not sure if it even came with this rod or not- but this is the way I found it. I cannot make out a maker on the tag, and I am just not sharp enough of fishing equip. to even give you a guess. Whatever ... moreit is, it is very nice and it will find a new home come Sunday night. It appears it is marked#14 as only the top parts of the numbers are visible. Perhaps. It was refurbished/reconditioned at some point. We believe this one to be a"Thorobred. Take a look at pic. You be the judge. The lock-nut has a Patent Number engraved on it. Overall. The rod is in great shape: there are no cracks, or any other noteworthy wear. We measured the rod by overlapping the beveled connection points. We didn't put it together because the slip/connection points need to be re-lubed/refinished. It appears time has dried up the lube/area. Nonetheless. The rod would make a great addition to your collection or for use, it feels strong& has a nice surface sheen to it still.
